Stephane Lasme

Look at his blocks and rebounds for the last year.

Star-divide

10 games where he had 7 or more blocks.  Points aren't too shabby either. He may end up being a steal.

should have seen him in the nit
this dude was ridonkulus in the nit tourney. he was blocking everything. i was pushing for the dubs to draft him. he'd work well in our system.

daaamn
he has some crazy stats...he didn't have one game without a block last season.  dude is a defensive stud AND grabs hella boards too?...i'm liking those numbers.  now if he has any type of shot, he's sounding like a nice bench piece.

get rid of MP and let this dude do his thing.

the crowning achievement of ira newble's illustrious career

WINNER: The Three UMass Fans At The Draft - Here's the beauty of the NBA draft - other than Joakim Noah wearing a bow tie or the screaming at Stephen A. Smith or chanting outrageous things about Duke players.

Deep in the second round just as deputy commissioner Adam Silver announced to a mostly silent theater that with the 46th pick Golden State had selected Stephane Lasme out of UMass, a wild and loud cheer went out. In the stands were three guys wearing UMass basketball jerseys cheering, high-fiving and eventually hugging each other in a show of complete jubilation and support because their guy had been chosen.

This was their night. They wait nearly five hours to hear a mostly anonymous player on a mostly anonymous team go No. 46. Then they promptly left.

That, folks, is NBA draft magic right there

this dan wetzel is an idiot. how can he think the warriors (aka the first 8 seed ever to beat a 1 seed in a 7 game series) are anonymous.

Relax
Pretty sure he's referring to UMass and not us.

Dude
I think he was talking about UMass, not us. And even if he was talking about us, we are still a pretty anonymous team, by NBA standards. Anyway, he was just trying to illustrate the dramatic irony of the moment -- give him a little poetic license. That "no one respects us" act is sooo last year.

I think he's talking about
UMass
Ronald Reagan was a jerk.

yea
i realized that after i had posted it. lasme looks like he could be a great contributor off the bench. four 10 rebound 10 block games is amazing

Potentially
Stephane Lasme is gonna be Adonal Foyle Part 2. A very good shot blocker coming out of college. I really hope he can be more mobile than Foyle to be successful with our team. Good pick as our final pick.

competition
UMass is in a real conference where they play legitimate NCAA div 1 teams with scholarship athletes.  Lasme went up against genuine college basketball players. Lasme played with and against guys who got scholarships to major programs.  I'm more than a bit concerned that he didn't do as well in some of the more competitive out of conference games, but he did perform well in the NCAAs and against BC in a game before Sean Williams was dismissed from their team and against Alabama and WVa in the tourney.

Colgate was in the Colonial Athletic Association which is on par with the Ivys for competition, if that.  They don't allow scholarship players which means Foyle was generally going against guys who were more like Div II or III quality.  Foyle was playing against 6-6 centers regularly.

Odds don't suggest that Lasme will be an impact player.  There's a reason he was a mid second rounder.  Those guys rarely  make impacts in the NBA (though it does sometimes happen).  If he's as good as Foyle and he's a min salary player, that's a pretty good thing.  Foyle's an adequate very limited PT player on most teams.  If he were a min. salary guy, that would be great.

don't forget
that foyle started playing basketball in like the 10th or 11th grade which explains why he is practically retarded when it comes to any type of handling of the ball.  i think this guy could be more like milsap

i wonder
some scout reports say he's a c in a sf body. but then another states he can guard the perimeter. If thats the case then GREAT! we need an awesome perimeter defender, and the fact that he has the intuition to block shots and grab boards is great. Can someone smell the next Jason Maxiel or Paul Millsap (with better defense)??

Honestly
he could be like a poor man's Rodman running around out there.  That wouldn't be too bad.

Stephane Lasme
I never got to see Lasme live, only on tv, but he was a phenomenal player at UMass, and I think he could eventually be at least a plus bench player for most teams. He has very good hands and his shot blocking instincts are some of the best I've seen in years. He also keeps the balls in play most of the time rather than blocking them out of bounds.
