Wat Happens

In light of tha J-Rich trade I have been thinking. Wat happens if tha warriors somehow fall short of tha playoffs and get like an end lottery pick. Then Davis realizes its gonna take years with tha young kids to make tha playoffs again in tha stacked West. So he opts out. Then Nellie leaves. So we have no superstar agian and no proven coach, jus like before. HA, wow. Anyways I hope and pray that doesn't happen, but if Baron leaves maybe will bring back agent zero.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Oh god
I hate Marcus Thompson.  Who remembers when he wrote the article in the middle of the playoff run that was all about why the warriors wouldn't be able to keep together the boomrich backcourt.  he was an asshole for doing that and now he writes this.  This was really the best case scenerio for the warriors if they "had" to get J-rich because they picked up a great young big man and added no other salary, and this wasn't enough for him.  He said that we had to give up j rich or Baron this offseason, and now hes saying that they made a step backward.  im sorry but if your only satisfied by bringing in a player of KGs caliber your going to be disapointed more then not.

good article...
I think Davis is gone after this season unless th W's get KG or especially if the W's don't make the playoffs. Plus, if we don't bring in another veteran the W's might implode. They better make the playoffs.

I agree that this move could land us in
the lottery again, but I think that only happens if Baron goes out for 2 long stretches. If it does though then we are better set up for the future and are in a better situation then we have been in a long time.

I aagree that offensivly this is a step back, however, our team wasnt good enough to be a championship contender and mullin knew that, that is why he made this move.

At least we can all repect mullin for taking a shot instead of sittiing on his hands as our past GM's have done.

Also Mullin isnt done manuevering,
He has pretty much said as much with the constant, "This gives us flexibility" talk. Dont worry he is not done, I have a feeling he is bringing in another veteran with that 10 million dollar exception, whether it is KG or a free agent is yet to be seen

If
BD does decide to opt out of his contract, we'll be able to sign a top tier FA because we'll have some money to spend in free agency. Here's just a few of the potential 2008 FA's...

Elton Brand
Gilbert Arenas
Jason Kidd
Jermaine O'neal
Rip Hamilton
Ron Artest
Shawn Marion
Tim Duncan

All these guys have the option to opt out of their contracts and test the FA market. So even if BD does leave I think we can make a splash somewhere in the FA market.

I like the article
but I dont get this thing he says, "He was the sprinkler in the fiery huddle." He was supposed to stop their team huddles? What?

i wonder how close to the dubs he was
by all accounts, the team chemistry seemed to stem from bd's workout friendships w/ jax & al along w/ his friendship w/ barnes from the ucla days - coupled w/ that groups reverence for nellie.

remember, al & jax chided jason b/c jason nearly tackled jax in the portland loss b/c he thought he was gonna go at one of the refs saying that they were all grown men & didn't need to be restrained like kids. though that proved to be somewhat untrue...

but, i'm sure nellie & mully, who see the day to day interactions of the team are much more in touch w/ the team's influences.

the dubs will be hurt offensively (especially in the half court), but they should be a lot better defensively. especially if lasme can slow down those pf-tweeners that give the dubs so much trouble (turiaf, wilcox, patterson, etc.).

and what makes him think that the true fans will desert the team just b/c jrich is gone? we're not faker fans who are like "if kobe is traded, i won't support the lakers."
