Sellers Remorse

I saw this Warriors video set to the 300 trailer. It got me all jazzed but seeing JRich fly all over place made me realize that nobody else on this team can fly. Sure dunks are only two points but I think they have a psychological impact on the game (probably because I cant dunk). We dont have anybody to just fly in there and score or rebound. AB, TMNT, JAX, BARON (anymore really), cant jump.

If this turns out to be a Jrich for Wright trade staight up, then Wright better come through and sitting out of summer league is just disappointing.

Is anybody else concerned that we don't have a flyer? Monta can sail and dunk by people but not really on anybody unless they are smaller.

After all the speculation of the trade what do we really have to show for it now?

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Your post makes no sense.....
First off, JRich lost alot of his explosiveness when he came back, he didnt really do much in the dunking department, Ellis was way more explosive.

And wtf do you mean by fly there and score or rebound? Just a retarded post dude.....sorry.

I
don't get it, nobody to fly in there to score or rebound? Ellis probably has more hops than J Rich now because of his knee.

As for what we have to show for it? A top 10 prospect who, in any other draft would easily be top 5. We have cap flexibity to sign Monta and AB plus a 10 million dollar trade exception. SOMEBODY had to go, J Rich just happened to be the odd man out because wings are a dime dozen in this league. No doubt that it sucks he had to leave, he was my favorite player for many reasons but sometimes the toughest decisions are the right ones and I think that will end up being the case.

Definition...
Fly: To travel by air.

Rebound: To retrieve and gain possession of the ball as it bounces off the backboard or rim after an unsuccessful shot.

Score: A usually numerical record of a competitive event.

What did he mean exactly?

Even BD with his bionic knee posterized AK-47 if my memory serves me correct.  Monta can slam, so can well, the entire team.  JRich was a freak, so it will be very hard to replace him in that department.

It doesn't really matter because the
brand of ball we play is super exciting no matter what. Plus Jrich hasn't done any entertaining open court dunks in a long time. He has turned into more of a jump shooter which is fine but Baron and Monta are both more explosive

what do we really have to show for it now?
better defense, better rebounds, balanced team scoring and if KG's really in the mix? swap 'better' with 'AllStar' and add a consistent 20 pt, 10 rb, 5 asts/game

if you're mostly worried about highlight dunks, I'm sure our bigs (whoever they end up being) will be able to hammer down a ton of BD's assists

Who's the Spurs' "high flyer"?
If you're worried about making highlight reels, Baron, Buki, Beli, Barnes, Biedrins and Monta (if he stays) can all dunk pretty stylishly.

James White
Whites an explosive dunker but he only plays garbage minutes

Well then
I think that debunks the myth about the need for a high flyer.

The '86 Celtics, perhaps the most dominant team I've ever seen, trotted out a starting 5 of Ainge, DJ, Bird, McHale, Parish -- with Scott Wedman, Bill Walton, and Jerry Sichting the main bench guys. I'm not sure anybody in that group of eight could outleap Sidney Ponson, let alone JRich.

Air France too (if he stays)
On those odd occasions when he can find his way to the rim without losing the ball or falling down or both, he can deliver some pretty spectacular dunks.

We
really at this point have nothing to show for it. Nothing can be shown until Brandan Wright shows up on the court. Who knows if our defense will be better? Who knows if our rebounds will be better? At this point, we've seen nothing and cannot just assume that we are better in those areas based on a prospect in the draft who hasnt done anything at the NBA level yet.

true 'nuff
well, look at it this way - chances are Wright is not the Second Coming of PoB plus there's also a possibly it might be KG we see instead of Wright

it'll still be some entertaining ball even w/o the JRich airshow

by Anomaly on Jul 12, 2007 5:18 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

i kind of disagree
on the surface it would seem like yeah, j-rich was the only real "flyer" on this team. but then u watch the video and you realize that baron had the most impressive dunk. i'd say he still has hops

by AJC3317 on Jul 12, 2007 12:33 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

omg dunking
isnt that special anyway. It's exciting to see, but you still get 2 points. It's not like the dunk contest, in which a better dunk gets more points.

Its still 2 points and like I've been saying a high flying player can sometimes be a little overrated.

by ballin on Jul 12, 2007 1:44 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

it's not slamball
where you get 3 points for dunks. It's the NBA were it's only 2.

by Psion on Jul 12, 2007 2:39 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

They still show Slamball on TV?
Anyways, yeah it's going to be weird seeing the team without a full line-up of electrifying guards. Hopefully Belinelli will replace the loss of Jason's dunks with some crazy 3 pointers or something.

by Five Ten Entertainment on Jul 12, 2007 4:27 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

A dunk
Is still a good thing.  If you can rise up and throw it down on someone, that's a near 100% field goal percentage (unless your name is Adonal Foyle).  Plus it gets the crowd and your teammates riled up as well.

I'd rather see someone like JRich go up strong and jam it then someone like Dunleavy go up weak and get swatted.

by jlagace on Jul 12, 2007 4:29 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Well you wont see either of them
bc they are both gone... haha... no seriously though it doesnt matter look at the spurs
