Thoughts of KG from a Garnett addict

First off, let me just say that I love KG.  My Goldenstateofmind screenname is 50% Kevin Garnett dedicated and thoughts of him consume my day a little too much for a 23 year old straight male. I am taking summer school right now so I have a  class that goes on for a little over 2 hours. We get a 10 minute break  after the first hour.  So what do I do during this break?  Run to the computer lab to check gsom and espn to see if KG is a Warrior.  When I wake up in the morning with smelly morning breath and a full bladder waiting to be relieved, I don't run to the bathroom.  I grab my lap top and check gsom and espn to see if Mully/Nelly and Mchale were up late hashing out a KG deal.  I can't listen to music in my car anymore.  It's KNBR 24/7.  Fitz, Brooks, Ralph and Tom all the time.  I sit through Sabercat football updates/SF Giant banter (I'm an A's fan) hoping to hear anything Garnett related.  I check hoopshype, realgm, espn message boards, basketballboards.net, truehoop,cbssportsline.com, cnnsi.com, foxsports.com, yahoo sports, tim kawakami blogs at the merc, hotcocoa, sfgate.com,marcus thompson III blogs, goldenstateofmind, and kevingarnett.com for anything Big Ticket/Warrior related.  The only movies I watch lately are KG highlight videos on youtube. I have visions of a Garnett The City throwback and  believe it will be the most aesthetically pleasing jersey of all time, and everytime I close my eyes, I see Kevin Garnett fairies dancing in my head.  My man love for KG is terror alert red. Despite all of this,  I have reached a point where giving up Monta Ellis for KG is too much.

Stop for a second and picture Monta Ellis at 26 years old.  The kid will probably be 25-30 lbs heavier full of muscle.  He will be insaneley quick, more developed with his ball handling, and posterizing Leandro Barbosa's cousins. Monta as a vet is flat out scary.  He is already schooling seasoned pros and he's only 2 years out of high school.  Monta will be holding clinics and putting up 25-30 ppg easy.

After losing Gilbert Arenas, I fell into a severe NBA/Warrior depression.  I had been clinically warrior depressed from the past decade but the Gilbert loss took me to a dark place.  Luckily I got some prozac in the form of Baron Davis and am feeling perky about the club these days, but I don't think I can fathom seeing Monta dominate for the next 15 years in exchange for 3-4 years of KG and a possible title.  I was talking to my friend about Monta and KG and we came up with an analogy that suits the situation.

Monta Ellis is the young, extremeley hot but baby faced girl that wants a relationship with you and can see herself marrying you.  You are all she knows and she is madly in love with you. She is a little underdeveloped but you know that in time, she will go from young adult to majestic woman.  She knows how to cook, will do your laundry, and your mom loves her.  She doesn't look at other guys and will be by your side through thick and thin.  You know you can cheat on her but she will come back because she loves you.  Then you got KG.

KG is your really really hot Milf that lives next door.  She was a former Miss Montana and posed for playboy.  She has a husband but every guy knows that she would cheat on him for pure thrill and experience.  She won't get with any guy though.  She posed for Playboy and has her standards.  The other day you were out washing your car and she was watering her garden.  You caught her giving you those ** me eyes and know that you have a shot and can't believe it.  You know that you can have fun with this Milf.  She has a husband already and doesn't want to leave her situation, but she wouldn't mind messing around with a new, younger guy that might be able to take her to the mountain top for a little bit.  You know that bagging this broad would make you the talk of the town and elevate your game with women to new plateaus.  How can you resist?

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Yes you can
You know you can cheat on her but she will come back because she loves you.

what that means is we can trade Monta as part of a KG package, and he will sign with us after next season

or it could mean...
throw his name out in trade rumors publicly and let it be known he is being shopped...

hahahaha
great diary... dude you need to get help with this KG problem its not healthy! hahah.  but dude i totally feel you on the monta situation.  there have been many trade proposals involving monta and i have been saying that he is a huge part of our team and that his speed, quickness, hops, and finishing ability have star written all over it.  i feel you and that was a great analogy.

i have to say as an A's fan
and as a disliker of the giants, i know way to much about the giants because of knbr and it sickens me lol.

It is hard being an A's fan these days..
They have been pretty unwatchable.  I want to stab myself in the face every time they bat.  It's like their lineup consists of 25 Ben Wallaces.  Great D, no O.

KG's a MILF!?!?!?!

Holy crap.  Get some help dude.  You're 2 burritos shy of a party plate. lol.

Your KG love is off the meter with that analogy.

Damn, and I thought my manlove for KG was bad
Quick tip: there won't be deal until Wright's 30 days are up.  Though there could be a proposed deal that will just wait but everyone knows will happen.

I know parting with Ellis/Wright/Biedrins is hard but truth is they could be stars or they could have reached their potential and never improve.  As an A's fan, you might remember Ben Grieve who had a very good 2000 regular season with the A's but then was a no show in the playoffs.  I know a hole in a swing is not the same as a hole in one's game but Ellis' disappearance against the Mavs and Jazz is potentially worrying.

If there was a way to get KG for Foyle, POB, and Sarunas it would be obvious.  You have to give up a player who's sky is the limit to get a player who's already playing in the clouds (well at least gets rebounds there).  And c'mon Baron and KG together would be sick (Now if along with that we could just get Camby or Artest with the TPE).

Ellis' disappearance doesn't worry me.
I think people are overreacting to Monta's playoff no-show.  The kid should be in college, not playing next to Baron, J Rich, and Stephen Jackson in the NBA playoffs.  He had mad butterflies and I don't blame him.

I remember Ben Grieve.  His 3-5 debut against the Giants was awesome and every A's fan crowned him as the franchise (even me).  He had such a sweet swing and looked like the purest lefty.  It sucks he hit into 32 double plays and set the major league record.  The dude might be slower than Bengie Molina.  Luckily, all A's fans were reminded that Tom Grieve was the Texas Rangers announcer every time we played them.

I Feel You!
God man, that first paragraph was the paragraph I wished I could put into words.  I thought I was alone.  Anyway, even though the breakdown of Monta as a vet is scary, I don't see him making some of the improvements you mentioned.  Sure he can score the ball but I don't see his ppg going to 30.  That being said, I agree that we don't trade him at this point.

I love KG, but at what price, as you said.

Awesome post!

Playoffs!!??

LOL!!!
That was some funny stuff!  Way to go outside the box on that one.  Its good to read sommething humorous around here all while making sense. I'm waiting to hear what Sleepy has to say about your diary-it should be choice.  Again, very funny JB2KG!

Since you asked
First paragraph: totally awesome. Not quite Baumerworld-level genius, but very truthful, passionate, and, by GSoM standards, extremely well written.

Last few paragraphs: meh, not so much. Just not a big fan of meathead/sexist fratboy humor, unless it's done really well, by someone with a lot more experience and savvy than this diarist. Comparing the sports world to the world of babes ... hardy har har, dude, never heard that one before. Actually, I think that may be #1 on BSG's list of "tired clichés to trot out when I've run out of clever ideas." And I think I read the whole bit about the hot MILF in the old copy of Penthouse forum I used to keep under my bed in my youth...

Besides, when you hit your late 30s, MILFs and hot young babes become basically one and the same ...

didn't realize..
gsom turned into a creative writing critique workshop....the real question is...are you ready to lose Monta?

by JimBarnett2KevinGarnett on Jul 13, 2007 4:06 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hey, he asked (kind of)
You should be flattered: most of the posting here doesn't even rise to the level of "writing." As I said, concerns about sexism aside, I thought he first paragraph was fantastic. You've got promise, son. You're like the Monta Ellis of GSoM...

Would I dump Monta for an established superstar like Kobe or Garnett? In a second. Unless he improves his ballhandling skills, there's still a good chance he ends up an average tweener type, a poor man's Steve Francis. 30 points per game? No chance.

by Sleepy Freud on Jul 13, 2007 4:24 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

haha..the monta ellis of gsom...
sounds flattering until your description of Monta was "an average tweener type, a poor man's Steve Francis" with no shot at 30 ppg.  Well, hopefully I'll get paid like Steve Francis.

one of the best diaries I've ever read on here. Good post.
