How about James Posey at SF?
The Miami Herald is reporting that Posey has narrowed his choices down to four teams, and one is Golden State. I think Posey would fit in very well at the 3 spot. He's a good defender and can shoot the 3 very well. Basically he's a much better Pietrus. If we can get him for less money than Barnes, I say grab him. What do you think? Also, I would love to get Joe Smith at the PF position if he will take less money.
Davis/Ellis
Jackson/Belinelli/Azibuike
Harrington/Posey
Smith/Wright/Lasme
Biedrins/Foyle
Heck of a squad!

yes
He is 6'8, great size for a swing man, has a rep for being a solid defender. He has experience on a relatively successful team.
Posey has 3 point range, boards decently for a SF, and should be athletic enough to run in our system.
His game might be compared to Pietrus, but as a vet, I expect he won't have that many mental breakdowns.
He's not the greatest player in the world, but he has appeal because he can play a Barnes-like role for something like half the MLE.

He makes too much sense not to be on our radar.

We'd have Ellis starting at SG, Jackson starting at SF.
Belinelli and Azubiuke backup both spots; Ellis and Belinelli can spot PG minutes.
I figure Posey would be the backup SF and pseudo-PF for Nelly.
Barnes would just be a excess we don't need to spend on.
Frankly, I'd take Posey because he's a better FT and has more experience (assuming both are equal price).

even in Nellies system
BD
JAX
Posey
Barnes
AL
But you are probably right, i would still like to see them get a reliable back up for BD (since he doesnt seem to want to play sarunas, and a maybe little inside muscle
Posey would be a nice addition here

Posey
except
$6M was his old paycheck, that says nothing about what he'll get this time. He's not gonna get the full MLE, and the other teams on his "list" (CLE, NO/K, NJ) are over the cap. Taking a paycut is pretty much a foregone conclusion unless someone's stupid enough to sign and trade just for the privilege of paying him more than the MLE.
Frankly, I can't imagine Cleveland paying him much because they're basically going to bust the bank keeping Sasha Pavlovic and Varajeo.
That leaves the Nets and the Hornets.
The Nets have Nachbar, Jefferson, and Hassan Adams, so I can't see Posey getting significant minutes there, so no advantage for Jersey.
The Hornets swingmen are Peja and J. Wright, and they area already paying Rasual Butler a good amount ($3M per) to be a backup.
Honestly, I don't see why he wouldn't want to play in our system, where swingmen thrive if they're willing to spot minutes at the 4. If we weren't gonna touch the full MLE for Barnes, there's really little chance we'd do it for Posey, so I'm pretty sure we'll come in at $4M or below.

We get it dude. You know everything about sports. You don't need to sit here and figure out different ways to tell people you think they're wrong. Just post your opinion and leave it be. It's tired. I'm bored of it.

Expect something from me soon
Blechh
30 y.o swingman with a career 41.6% FG who does nothing above average, except defend? I'd rather have Barnes. I'd probably even rather have Pietrus.
Player age / 2006-07 PER
-----
Barnes 27 / 14.7
Pietrus 25 / 13.0
Posey 30 / 12.7
Given that we can likely have either Barnes and Pietrus for cheaper than the MLE, I don't really see the point in playing ring around the Posey.
Good point
Parker Posey, on the other hand, would be a great pickup...
comparo
Barnes had an unusually good year; Pietrus' flaws are well documented. Both are looking for the full MLE.
None of the 3 bring any individual offense and rely mostly on opportunistic 3 point shooting or transition/garbage buckets for scoring.
Posey, however, is a superior free throw shooter and rebounded well playing at the 2/3 positions. Barnes and Pietrus put up good board numbers, but at the 4 position.
I would not want Pietrus back under any circumstances, and would take the cheaper of Barnes or Posey.

Unless there are more players around the ring???
"The Heat needs to give Mo a deadline. This is silly - he's obviously holding out for a massive deal. The only reason I can see the Heat wait is if there is a sign and trade involving Golden State to send Yi to GS, Williams here and players/picks to the Bucks."
NOT an advocate...but solves the Bucks draft problems and gets Yi into the NBA
True

In defense of RealGM
Not anymore
I don't know if his body could handle playing uptempo all season. IIRC he has played for Denver, Houston, Memphis, and Miami, all halfcourt-set offense type clubs while he was there. I'm not sure he would fit in our system that well. He is also a bit of a hot-head/cheap-shot artist, which is one of the few things that bug me about him as a player. Anyway I might take him if it was a super bargain but then again he might be a good pick-up if we land KG. haha, it's funny but I can't think about any of these moves without also considering how it would work with a KG trade. lol.
UPDATE: Hornets sign Peterson

Looks like NO/OK is out of the Posey sweepstakes.
