Stephen Jackson Suspended

I am watching ESPN news and the BREAKING NEWS section says he and Ron Artest are suspended 7 games each(seperate instances). Jackson supposedly for the strip club brawl about a year ago. Artest suspended for spouse abuse.

This seems fair enough I think considering his history. I will post a link and updated this as soon as a story appears. Rick Bucher is on ESPN right now and he says that it is going overboard and that both players pleaded guilty to get the case over with not because they were guilty of anything. Update here is the link from yahoo provided by Caught Backcourt http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=ApqRtYhHOUvUyhqU0PDFXsa8vLYF?slug=txnbasuspensions&prov=st&type=lgns

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Stephen
Jackson and Ron Artest? If my memory serves me correct, Artest wasn't there so I have no idea how he'd be suspended with SJax.

Well
I guess with this development we're going to see just exactly what Belineilli has early on. My guess is he's gonna log significant minutes the first 7 games.

Does the NBA have some
"character" clause in its collective bargaining agreement I didn't know of? We've seen this happening in the NFL lately with Pacman, Tank, and Chris Henry, but in the NBA I thought you could only be suspended for either on-court hijinks or substance abuse--is there precedent for this? Or is Stern just trying to keep up with a trend started by Roger Goodell? I'm confused. Kobe was dropping forty points a night in the middle of a rape trial--I don't recall him missing a single game. What gives?

did kobe ever plead guilty?
Action Jackson plead guilty to criminal recklessness.  So basically he admitted what he did and was ready to take the heat for it.  Also from what the sources say, at first they had to determine if what he was being charged for counted as a felony by the NBA rule book.  If in fact it was a felony under the NBA rules, then he would be suspended a minimum amount of games... i can't remember the minimum but I think it was in the range of 4-7 games.

He might have saved himself a lot of trouble by fessing up to the crime b/c if they would have drawn out the trials, etc etc he would have had to fly back and forth during the season and if eventually busted, would be charged with a far worse penalty than what he's dealing with now.
