kosta perovic update
http://www.nba.com/warriors/news/2007_summer_league_blog.html
if he, wright, and lasme can play, the team should be pretty deep next yr. it will also mean pob may be enjoying another yr in the d-league.
we can feature a team similar to last yr w/ baron, jax, kelenna, al, & andris - then go to a more conventional 2nd unit w/ monta, marco, lasme, wright, & perovic. i only put monta in the 2nd unit as a ball handler and obviously there will be some mixing and matching.
if we keep barnes, he'll obviously take kelenna's spot, moving kelenna's into lasme's, and putting lasme at risk for the d-league since the last two roster spots are probably foyle's and sarunas'. if powell is kept, he'll probably be on the inactive roster w/ those last two inactive spots either left open for call ups or belonging to camp invites.

Everything
nah, you guys just need to read better
2nd, i never said lasme was a SF, i said kelenna would take lasme's SPOT in the rotation/roster. but if you read the summer league info, you'd see lasme is a 15-18 foot jump shooter and he actually weighs less than steven jackson (same height). he might work at the top of the key in nellie's 1-2-2 zone.
If you had read correctly, i only put kelenna in the starting spot b/c i moved monta down for a ballhandler and like i said if barnes resigns or they find some other guy to be their rebounding small forward, he automatically fills that spot.

Most
You're right
Thing is, i'm under the impression that nellie prefers BD, Jax, "yet to be determined rebounding 3", Harrington, and Andris - based on what he said the team's needs are.
out of who is on the rest of the roster - monta, marco, kelenna, lasme, wright, kosta, sarunas, foyle, pob - i just threw kelenna in there b/c he seemed to best fit that description compared to the other 8.
time will tell whether we re-sign barnes or pietrus. or try to lure a FA on a 1-yr deal like Ruben Patterson or James Posey (since the heat didn't get williams, maybe we can even dump jassy for posey if we throw in pob). b/c the starting lineup is going to have trouble rebounding w/ subpar rebounders at their positions like jax, al, and either monta or marco.
maybe we should of drafted dominic mcguire instead
of lasme like some GSOM members have lamented.

Kosta
He simply doesn't possess the skill and instinct neccesary to compensate for his poor foot speed and overall lack of athletiscm.
There was a time a couple years ago he was considered a player with top 10 pick potential - those days are long gone - for good reason. The novelty of his size invariably wore off as his skills have progressed at a sluggish pace.
If he ever steps foot on an NBA floor it will be as the 10-12th man, coming off the bench. I'm sure that Mullin and the rest of the front office looks at Kosta as a player with a very small chance of contributing this year or in the future. They simply have to hold on to him because of his size and the position he plays.

has anyone actually SEEN him play?
I know he's white and European and really, really tall. I don't subscribe to the Agaean League Pass, so I haven't been keeping up with his game this year, and doubt too many of you have either. Most of us are going on what we've read from other source, and I suspect many of those sources haven't seen more than 10 minutes of clips of him and I'm being generous with that time estimate. Many more seem to repeat what another site has posted without any new info.
I doubt he's really any good because most big men aren't, but I've read that he is both slow and runs the court well in the same sentence at Draftexpress. That sort of sentence makes me think that they're basing their evaluation on, well, nothing.
Chances are he'll suck. Chances are he lasted to the second round because people who are paid to watch more than game clips thought he was a project at best, but they've been wrong in the past about foreign players and I suspect many of them read the pop reports because they're not really sure what they're seeing either and hell, it's easier than trying to order coffee in Croatian while on a scouting trip. I'd just caution that most of us are going on third hand reports about him, so projecting anything should be done with extreme caution.
I second this...
Although with the Warriors, that may seem like a stretch... but yes, think about AB. Nobody gave a damn about this kid until this season, now everyone, including a large chunk of the members on this forum are all over him and some of you probably even want to have his babies... lol

Kosta Perovic
I have seen him play
I have the games saved on my TiVO and I've meant to watch them again. We'll see how his contract situation goes down before I sit through that pain again.
Thanks.
I'm assuming that he, like 99% of all big men who get drafted, will be busts. The interesting thing is that it doesn't seem like some of the mid-to-late lottery guys are any more likely to be worthwhile. It's just a hunch, but I suspect there's as good a chance of finding a Brad Miller (or at least the version that played up until last year) who went undrafted as there is of getting a player of equal caliber with a 7-14 pick. The advantage of lucking into a guy in the second round or after the draft is that they don't cost much when you do find them.
