REPORT/RUMOR: For you IME UDOKA lovers!!!

In today's ESPN NBA Rumor Central:

Room For Udoka?

Jul 18 - With Travis Outlaw's signing, Ime Udoka's future with the Blazers could be in jeopardy. The Blazers now have the NBA maximum 15 players under contract, which seems to mean that GM Kevin Pritchard will have to make a trade or someone will have to be cut for Udoka to fit into Portland's plans for next season.

"This kind of raises the question: 'Hey, what about Ime?' " said Erin Cowan, Udoka's agent. "That's the story line. Hey, what about Ime? And to be honest, I don't know. But you know what? It's not our decision. That's (the Blazers') decision. The ball has always been in their court."

Cowan said there are multiple teams that have expressed interest in Udoka, but he would not confirm or deny that one of them is San Antonio, as has been rumored. -- The Oregonian

Just wanted to share what I found!  I don't know much about him, but a bunch of GSoM members have expressed their interest in this guy.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

we could use our trade exception
in a Sign and trade for him since they don't need another player in return

Trade Exception
Are you allowed to combine the exception with a draft pick?

I
don't think you can use the trade exception in a sign and trade. I'm not sure if you can combine it with a draft pick.

Not a problem
You can use the trade exception in a sign and trade and you can combine it with a pick.  The Warriors would have to send something to Portland (probably a second rounder) for the re-signed player.  The TPE allows the Warriors to take back more salary.  Portland isn't taking back any salary at all in the deal, so it's not an issue for them.

The issue with the TPE is that if the Warriors use it, they cannot combine it with an outgoing player to add more salary than the TPE.

is it all or nothing?
in other words, if they use less than the total, do they retain the remainder or is it a one&done type asset?

What about...
If the incoming salary is LESS than the TPE, is the full value transferred, or is the incoming salary subtracted from the total TPE amount, the remainder of which is kept by the team? If we were to sign Udoka for, say, $2.5 mil, do we keep a $7.5 mil exception, or does it just disappear and turn into pure cap space?

I've read somewhere...
...that it's all or nothing.  Don't quote me though.  I'll post back if i can confirm or disprove this.
