REPORT/RUMOR: UDONIS HASLEM on the block???

In today's ESPN NBA Rumor Central:

Haslem Doesn't Want To Leave

Jul 18 - With most of the big names in free agency now off the market, the Heat will likely have to pursue trades to fill its needs for depth at point guard and small forward. And Udonis Haslem's name has come up in several trade scenarios that involved the Heat.

Despite the speculation, Haslem said Tuesday he expects to be in a Heat uniform when next season opens.

"When your name comes up, you take it as a compliment, I guess," Haslem said Tuesday.

"If it's a better situation, I just have to understand the business side of it," Haslem said. "But I've done all my work here, from state title to NBA title. I want to be here, no doubt." -- Miami Herald

So reading this I automatically think of trading PIETRUS, who the HEAT have been rumored to be interested in, for HASLEM!  Seems to work for both sides if the HEAT is looking for a small forward and they already showed interest in PIETRUS.  I don't what HASLEM's salary is, so I wouldn't be able to go into detail about the various trade scenarios, but maybe someone who does can share their knowledge w/ the rest of us!

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

MP (S&T) + Jas?
if Heat need both a PG & SF

Jas' shooting may spread floor for shaq

* Golden State restricted free agent Mickael Pietrus, perhaps the best small forward still available, wants to play for Miami, agent Bill McCandless said, but it will only happen through a sign-and-trade. Talks between the Heat and Warriors are ongoing, but it's unclear if a deal will get done, McCandless said Tuesday.

Would Haslem be a difference maker though?

GOOD QUESTION
And a good suggestion for PIETRUS and CABBAGES!  That definitely shores up both of their needs and I think HASLEM would be a difference maker!  Regardless, PIETRUS is practically out the door and it doesn't seem like CABBAGES will ever get off the bench in NELLIE's system, so I say or ask...why not?!

Another question would be would the heat do it?!  I wonder if PREE has any "inside" info regarding any of this!

I have a feeling...
Haslem would be like what Kurt Thomas is to the Suns.  I'm not that excited about it.

i really, like the idea of Haslem plugged next to
Beans. Now that is a defensive and rebounding two-some. I am unsure if the Heat would want to take on Jazz's contract as well. Think about it, they are already over the cap and are looking to shed payroll. Unless ya know, your name is Mo Williams, or Shard, then i doubt the Heat increase its payroll. I was thinking of something more along the lines of Sign and trading MP to a 3 year, 12 million dollar contract. Send him to Miami along with Patrick O'Bryant, who has only one more guaranteed year at around 2 million. This now matches up pretty well with Udonis' contract while it would also save the Heat about 5 million dollars.

However i think Miami only trades Udonis if they think Wayne Simien is ready to cotribute.

Then in a seperate deal i'd send Jazz to Boston for Gerald Green and Sebastian Telfair. I would love to bring Powe back, but with the addition of BWright, and Udonis i doubt he'd get PT.

Boston trade
That's pretty one-sided.  I really don't see Boston giving Green straight up for Cabbages.  Maybe they'd do a Telfair swap but I think they're going to keep him since they don't have any depth at PG.  I think Haslem would be a decent fit for our team.  He's not the tallest or biggest guy, but he can run the floor, get rebounds, and also has a fairly nice 15 foot jumper.  I think the Heat would actually take on Cabbages since he only has one more year left, and with their half-court offense I'm sure he could be like Damon Jones was.

I'm thinking Pietrus and Cabbages for Haslem and then resign Barnes with the full MLE for on year.  No one is going to pick up Barnes for much more since they are afraid he can only thrive in Nellie's system.

How
would you send Cabbages to Boston for Green and Telfair? The Celtics would laugh at you if you offered them that for Green.

I'd like to see the Dubs maybe see if the Heat with throw in Dorell Wright in the Haslem deal. He'd be hella good under Nellie.

DORELL

The celtics
are in a win now mode. They want results while Allen and Pierce have life left in them. What they desperately need is a backup PG to place behind Rondo. It also seems that Celtics nation is pretty open to trading Green, so as long as it improves their club right now. They've been discussing Jazz for awhile so its not too far fetched.

Nice Vid
I know about the midrange J and the nice rebounding, but I didn't realize how strong of a finisher he is.  It's the exact same two handed dunk everytime but at least he knows what works and doesn't try to get too flashy. I would like to see him as the first big off the bench in our system. Coming in to back up Al and Beans he would solve our depth issues in the frontcourt. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether or not it would be smart to add his salary at this point. If Brandan matures faster than expected and we re-sign Monta and Beans we might be in a bit of a crunch when the time comes to re-sign Wright. Of course by then Foyle would be off the books and possibly Baron could be gone. Anyone want to do a more in depth analysis of the Cap ramifications? Help me out.

COOL VID
After watching those HASLEM highlights, I could totally picture him playing NELLIE-BALL.  He also kind of reminds me of MARION, minus the range of course, but his athleticism, up and down court skills, and ability to finish!
