RUMOR: Mickael Pietrus S&T to Miami

I'm hearing MP2 to Miami is starting to heat up, with it being a sign-and-trade with Jason Williams coming back. I don't have much more information than that at the moment and I feel as though I won't be getting much more information than that any time soon because both of these franchises tend to play close to their vest.

If the Warriors get Williams, they'll be comfortable spending their MLE - or most of it - because they won't be committing to too much that will affect the extensions we've all talked about. That could mean Barnes is still in the picture.

Baron / Williams / Jasikevicius
Monta / Belinelli / Azubuike
Jackson / Barnes
Harrington / Wright / Lasme
Biedrins / Foyle / POB / Perovic

I don't really like it and don't see them going all that far, and my concern is that the TPE or Williams won't be use to bring in a player because of luxury tax concerns after those extensions.

You know .. maybe those extensions won't happen after all and the Warriors are left to using Williams and the TPE at the deadline.

You have to remember that if Williams expiring deal is brought in and the Warriors either use him or the traded player exception to get a player with a long-term deal, you can pretty much say goodbye to either Monta or Biedrins because of luxury tax concerns for the 2008-09 season.

Update [2007-7-21 14:3:18 by OptionZero]: Today's edition of the Sun-Sentinel has published an article supporting Pree's info.

Heat General Manager Randy Pfund and Golden State are in discussions for a sign-and-trade involving Pietrus. The first element of such a deal is Pietrus' desire to join the Heat. Pietrus' agent, Happy Walters, said Friday that South Florida is the preferred destination for the restricted free agent. "We hope so," Walters said. "That is our wish. Mickael would like to be there."
