"WE BELIEVE" slogan

I've been thinking about this for a while now and does anyone know if the Asian American fan was compensated for coming up with the slogan?

I'm pretty sure he was there all season holding up that sign, "We Believe Playoff" up which appeared on TV and this blog numerous times.

So did the GS front office just rip the slogan and sell tons of mechandise adorning it?

Anyways it's fun to explore the pieces to the whole puzzle when it comes to golden warriors basketball.

Also if the GS marketing team wishes to have the best touch with their fan base, BRING BACK J-RICH!!!

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

The "We Believe Playoff" Dude
I read that the Warriors talked to the We Believe Playoff guy about compensating him before making the We Believe shirts (he also made We Believe shirts but his were apparently just black writing on a gold shirt). He told the Warriors that he didn't want any money and allowed them to make the shirts.
GOOD LUCK, JRICH. WE MISS YOU, MAN.

I met him too...
Very nice dude... he has a Hawaiian joint up in I think Alameda I haven't had time to visit... I asked him as well about compensation and he was very humble about it... we were 2 busy complementing each others work, lol. Next season or if I can get it 2 his store... I'm gonna make a sign design for him of Him holding his own sign! We owe him a lot!

I've met him
He's a cool dude and I bought one of his shirts at his Hawaiian Drive Inn.  The Warriors organization wanted to compensate him, but he refused to take the money because, as he said, he just did it as a fan.

We Believe Shirts
I hadn't heard that the fan refused any compensation.  However, on the other end of the deal, the Warriors didn't actually sell "We Believe" products.  They did give the t-shirts away at several of the playoff games, but never sold it.  Now, from what I'm told, this is because "We Believe" has actually been trademarked by someone back East - thus the Warriors couldn't legally sell the gear.

Warriors did sell the shirts
Before Game 4 against Dallas, they sold the We Believe shirts at the team store for $20 flat.
For that game, the Warriors gave out We Believe towels, so they sold the left over shirts from the previous game.

If you want to support Paul Wong, go to his Hawaiin Drive Inn. I beleive it's in Alameda.

Dell has "adopted" We Believe
I saw a Dell computers commercial where they were using the "We Believe" line.  I think they are trying to capitalize off the popularity and enthusiasm generated by the Warrior Nation.  Dell should pay Paul Wong royalties, or at least give him a new computer.

I saw that too
Jerks. Dell can't steal We Believe.
