Idea: Dee Brown

http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,695196098,00.html

Sounds like Dee Brown could be on his way out in Utah with the recent signings of Ronnie Price and Jason Hart.  That would put him at the 3 or 4 spot in the PG rotation over there.  He's a restricted free agent and the Jazz didn't make a qualifying offer so apparently he's open to outside offers.

I only saw him play in a couple games (outside of our playoff series) but he seemed capable of running an offense - although the Jazz's half-court sets are vastly different from the W's run-and-gun game.

Would he be a good fit for us?  And do you think the Jazz would be interested in possbily swinging a sign and trade Brown for Cabbages and salary filler?  Cabbages seems like he would be a better fit in their offense.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Non-roster invitee only
Dee Brown's a non-roster camp invitee type player.  He came in when Fisher wasn't available in the playoffs, but for the most part through the season he didn't show much to suggest he's able to handle NBA competition. He was good keeping control of the ball and finding teammates, but he shot poorly.  450 minutes played may not be enough to show if he can find a way to get the ball in the hoop, but as an undersized player, he's got to find a shot since he's going to be a defensive liability much of the time.  Simply being a distributor whose shot doesn't need to be contested at all won't win too many games.

It might be worth it to bring him in to camp provided no one else does so, but I wouldn't give him even a one-year guaranteed contract at this point.

On the non-roster invitees: I suspect there's a guy or two we haven't seen yet who will wind up on the team.  The summer league didn't really suggest anyone, much like it didn't suggest anyone last year either.

Injury issues?
Remember the spill he took during the Jazz/W's series?  It might be more serious than those in the know are letting on.  He was a solid contributor and showed flashes or being a solid change of pace PG.  His speed would definitely be a boost for the W's.  I like the move if his neck checks out.

Dee Brown
Wouldn't be a bad back-up pg to Baron as he is a good ball handler, has good speed and is young. However, I would prefer to get Pierre Pierce as he would be a guy who could come of the bench and be a good scorer - also, we wouldn't have to pay much for him.
