Kawakami's Mancrush = KG

Yet another blog about KG. This time he wants to get KG and Yi to put with Baron and AB. He is going insane but if you dont believe me look for yourself.
He thinks we can get KG without giving up AB and I really think this is impossible but you be the judge.

http://www.mercextra.com/blogs/kawakami/2007/07/06/dream-warriors-scenario-how-about-garnett-and-yi/

At least Kawakami is entertaining.

Do you think it is time to give up the KG dream?

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

ok, ok, it's all supposed to be fun anyway right, er I mean Wright?

the KG thang only works with all the stars perfectly alligned, the four leaf clover, rabbit's foot, and 7-7-7 lining up - hey which is tomorrow isn't it? ok, one more day then I'll put away the clover and foot laying next to the keyboard ... then again, it aint over 'til ...

Kevin Garnett or Yi Jianlian
It's either or for these two players. I don't really see us acquiring both players without having to surrender Andris Biedrins to either the Bucks or Timberwolves. I liked how Kawakami incorporated a possible sign-and-trade with Orlando's Darko Milicic to entice Minnesota, but I believe it's just in the name of fun and unlikely. Kawakami was right on point saying that our best trading asset is Brandan Wright and our $10M trade exemption/exception. Along with either Monta Ellis and/or Andris Biedrins, we can use that along with the Wright and exception to get KG in a deal. Getting Yi on the other hand, should not be too much of an issue. It's a lot more risky just banking on an international player who wants to meet his trade demand. Milwaukee only sees that opportunity to bank on Yi's value, hoping they can land some more veteran talent. A smart move by Milwaukee as of so far. I would kinda go for the KG offer if we wouldn't have to include Andris in the deal. I would hate to say that Monta is our best bet along with Brandan and our trade, plus a combination of Foyle, Harrington, and POB and/or Kosta Perovic with the exception to get KG. I'll welcome any move that makes our team better. If that means sacrificing our future to win now, we might as well go for the gold.

his idea is horrible
even NEXT year, im not sure i would take garnett over harrington, wright, and ellis. basketball is a team sport (duh!), not an individual one. worst case, assuming no more moves this offseason (unlikely), is we miss the playoffs and get a lottery pick in what looks to be a very deep draft. best case is our young players develop and we make the playoffs.
we will miss your j rich

Tim's just having fun
Look at how he opened up that piece:
I'm just thinking out loud here. Unlike most of my previous Warrior bloggery, I have no inclination or information that would lead me to believe that Chris Mullin and Don Nelson actually are trying to pull off the following double-bonus big man super-bonanza.

Thinking out loud... Caution. I'm not saying this is about to happen or that the Warriors are seeking to make it happen. Just thinking and typing.

I applaud him for just having a good time on his blog. Tim's just throwing a out crazy scenario which is what fans do ALL the time. I give him and enormous amount of credit for not coming off pompous or holier than thou to Bay Area sports fans. In many ways he's like the fan- still having a good time doing his job.

There are very few sports journalists with his mileage in the industry that still keep an upbeat and positive approach with some fun mixed in. He's given Warriors fans a ton of credit for sticking with this team through all the bad times. Tim's the people's sports writer!

i don't mind him having a good time,
but you do realize that if someone on this site were to come in just like him stating, this is for fun, im just thinking, etc. and then propose those trades, they would be the laughing stock of GSoM.

hahaha
wow... this man sure has an imagination... but... the signing of darko to trade him in a package for KG is interesting, but no way do they accept a deal without monta and AB.  plus, if we did make that first trade, no way would i want to make the second trade.  I wouldn't trade monta for Yi straight up, but thats just me.  personally that lineup looks kinda weak to me anyway.  what are we gonna do, just post everybody up?  naw im cool.  way too tall and slow.  if we made the first move, mullin would be genius and then we would have a dope lineup of baron, monta, jackson, KG, AB... and then we'd be goin to the finals... haha probably not happening tho

Kawakami
has been writing these "Trade For KG" columns for years now. I personally can't wait for KG to either retire or become a Warrior, just so Kawakami can stop writing these columns every six weeks or so. While KG has been his steady mancrush, I also seem to recall columns in which he pushed hard for the Dubs to trade for Eddy Curry, Sam Dalembert, etc.--he seems to fetishize height in general, despite the fact that there are far more 7ft stiffs in the league than there are 6ft stiffs.

I think Tim's losing it
It makes no sense from a basketball perspective. Trading for KG means "GFIN." Installing a total question mark as one of the centerpieces of your lineup is not GFIN. You go after either Yi (blow it up move) or KG (GFIN move). Not both.

Honestly, after that ridiculous entry, I'm starting to feel embarrassed for spouting some of Tim's "talking points" on this board. He may just be having fun, or whatever, but his previous conjecture at least seemed to have some grounding in reality. I have no interest in hearing people's pure wet-dreams. We get enough of that on this board ;-)...

Love it
Unlike most people here on GSoM, I love hearing what  different ways we can trade for KG or any other player.  My favorite time of GSom and newspapers is the basketball offseason.  I love the rumors and posts about how we can get these superstar players even though it never seems to work out.  Even though this article seems way too far fetched, (as it is supposed to be) I want pieces like this to keep coming.  I wish more sports writers focused on the rumors that surround the local teams like our beloved Warriors.
The offseason is a time of hope, not hate.
Playoffs!!??

Speaking for myself
As someone who likes to indulge in trade rumors, I have to say there's kind of a "sweet spot" when a rumor seems realistic enough, from both teams' perspectives, that it might just happen. Just coming up with a bunch of random, implausible crap "for fun" is the antithesis of this to me.

It's like the pleasure of the girl you're hot for showing real signs of interest v. the "pleasure" of looking at pictures of Jessica Alba on the internet.

Don't Matter
It ain't a big deal if the writer is just having some fun.  I mean, what does it have to do with us, if you don't like reading about far fetched rumors then you don't have to.  Too many people complain about Kawakami.  I like his articles but if you don't, then don't read them.  Just don't fill up space of diaries complaining about a local sports writer who loves our Warriors just like we do.

I'm glad to hear others like rumors just like me but we don't need to rant if we don't like one article.  So Kawakami wants KG to come to the bay.  Can we hate him for that.

Sleepy- funny, unique, and creepy analogy (it was a compliment)

Playoffs!!??
