Baron Davis Contract Extension

Apparently Baron Davis' agent and the Warriors are already talking about a contract extension.

QBaron Davis' agent, Todd Ramasar, said he's had initial discussions with vice president Chris Mullin regarding a contract extension for the point guard. Davis is signed for another two years at a total of $37.8 million, but can opt out after next season. "It's in a good place," said Ramasar, who declined to go into specifics. Davis is in France attending the wedding extravaganza of Spurs guard Tony Parker and actress Eva Longoria, and is expected to return to his offseason home in Las Vegas next week.

Warriors don't really have a choice do they?
We all know how well Baron plays when he's unhappy. What's the alternative? There is nothing available of equal value.

Remember, this is the franchise that caved to Troy Murphy because they were afraid of him (and JR) being a malcontent during the season. Baron can out-malcontent Troy's sorry ass any day of the week.

Think Nelson's going to tell him to play hard and honor his contract? Nelson is doing the exact same thing to the Warriors that Baron is.

So the real question is, "how much, for how many years and can they get insurance on it this time?".

choices
  1. cave and give it to him, through in a pedicure
  2. tough, you're already getting big time money, play a whole season at a big time level
  3. see ya, we'll see what we can work out in a trade to, say Memphis?
  4. hey Baron, chill out - we're working on bringing in KG dude! you want to win or what?! you'll get yours

Granted, but none are good for the Warriors
  1. Bad but probable. They have a history of this.
  2. He's not going to play at the level they need him to if he's pissed off. Who's going to tell him "Tough"? Nelson, who will get his contract re-done or Mullin who just re-did Nelson's contract?
  3. This is somewhat plausible but likely not advantageous. Who can you get back that will replace your best player and, sadly, your only low post threat? You really aren't even going to get cap relief if you dump his salary because he comes off the books if he opts out after next year.
  4.  C'mon! He's gotta feed his family.

Plays like a bulkier Monta
But their games appear similarish. This is based entirely on 10 minutes of You Tube watching.

It took me 4 clips before I saw a jump shot and ball handling.

Yikes man
18.9 mil a year... Id be happy with 1/36 of that.If we plan on trying to win with the team we have, better get that extension paperwork started....  If we have some sort of youth movement brewing (knock on wood) its probably not a good idea

i'd bet
they try to extend him for about 3 years...the W's are going "all in" right now...Nellie will be gone in a year or two and if they get KG the window is small.

Let's Go Oakland! Gas, Brake, Dip.

does BD look frustrated to y'all?

Is it perhaps
  1. cuz he's not behind you know who (yummmmy)
  2. cuz he's hungry and this wedding is taking for-freakin-ever
  3. doesn't like weddings (c'mon guys, who does? raise y'r hand)
  4. just heard he aint getting an extension
  5. knows when he says congrats to Parker, he's afraid he'll hear "Thanks, and don't worry someday you'll play in a Finals too"

i think is cuz
he is seperated from miss alba

he's upset b/c
he knows that tony parker is marrying an ugly broad who just has a really good makeup artist.  I don't think I have to post up the comparison picture again of that monster, but if you must see it just search google images for pictures of her w/o makeup.  I dare not post it again for I like to dream, not have nightmares.

wow...
you can't really call eva longoria an ugly broad.  i can almost garuntee she looks better then your girl w/ or w/o makeup.  besides dude your just being mean.

i've seen a bunch of pictures of celebrities w/ no
makeup and yeah... they don't look so hot, but its just a picture, and everyone has those days...

i say 3
i like weddings because there's potentially open bar. also, haven't we learned anything from "wedding crashers"? jp

i think w's should make him sweat
i have a pretty simply reason too. if baron plays poorly, or injured, for the warrior's next season, he will not be able to opt out AND also keep his advantageous/powerful negotiating position. plus, if he does opt out, we would still have the best chance to resign him; it will cost us the exact same dollars as he wants now.
