Wow, Nowitzki still haunted

Check out the story at http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=txmavericksnowitzki&prov=st&type=lgns.

He went on a backpacking trip to Australia to stop thinking about the 1st round loss to the Ws and then says,

"Of course you try to block it out," Nowitzki said, "but you can't get something like that completely out of your mind."

I almost feel bad for the man...it's rare seeing professional athletes actually care for the game.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

So long
As he continues his disappearing act whenever he sees a dubs uniform, I can care less about Nowitzki's psyche.

Without the W's in the way
I think Dallas will finally win it all next year.

without the W's?
where are the W's going? My guess is that they will still be a thorn in big D's side.

Unfortunately, not to the playoffs IMO
Even if they slide into the post season, which is unlikely now, I think, the W's don't present the same matchup problems for the Mavs without JRich. And matchups are everything. The key to the matchup last year was JRich/Josh Howard and the trade has changed everything. I think they take 3 out of 4 from us this year.

lol
they had a lot of matchup problems, which i think were over rated.  how is the jrich howard matchup so important.

Oh, U saw that, too
I was scratchin' my head on that one.  I think the match up of baron vs the whole state of texas had more of an effect than the howard/richardson matchup.

exactly what i was thinking
they couldn't handle baron.  that was the biggest advantage we had.  also jackson vs dirk we owned.  j rich and howard kinda neutralized each other if you ask me

HAHA
he does do a good David Copperfield impression when the dubs roll through.  or maybe more like Dirk Angel Mindfreak?

Well...
You begin to wonder if the Mavs will eventually become the Colts. Peyton made it so close for so many years, just to lose when it mattered the most...all of a sudden, the stars aligned!! Dirk is still a young leader/captain...he's not even 30 yet!

His psyche is fine...if anything, the Mavs and Dirk know more about how to pace themselves for the whole year then to try to win 70 games and flop at the end.

Finally, the Mavs would have to meet the W's in the playoffs...if the Mavs are seed 1 or 2 or 3, and the W's are seed 4 or 5 or 6...they would probably never meet...if the W's meet ANY OTHER TEAM first (and even this new Mavs team...since the W's idiotically GAVE away a pure shooter in JRich) they might not get out of the first round...then who wins it all?

Mayhaps
The Suns, Spurs or Celts?

Hmmm...
Let's allow the Celts to actually MAKE the playoffs...they have Garnett and Allen and Pierce...but that might implode...Kobe and Shaq anyone?!?! Good luck to them, but those three aging stars aren't any better than a young talented core...like the one in Dallas.

Kobe & Shaq
Grabbed 3 rings b4 "imploding".  I'm sure any Boston fan would take that tradeoff.   Let's not turn this into a "shoving contest".  My only point is that Mavs have WAY more than the dubs to think about.  In fact, in hindsight, I don't think the Mavs would've got past the Spurs, IF the dubs had decided not to show up in the first round last year.

Oh...
I'm from Texas...what the heck does "mayhaps" mean?

by BigTex84 on Aug 16, 2007 2:30 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

The lovechild
of "maybe" and "perhaps".

by Caught Backcourt on Aug 16, 2007 2:43 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

oh...
Word Lovechildren...I like that...I shall start that trend in Texas... ;-)

Oh...and I'm not trying to start a shoving match at all...I was simply saying that the Celts could win it all...but, they have to make the playoffs first.  It's a bit early to say they could win it all...  Oh, and I hope they don't implode, but some teams have...without winning a championship.

That's all...and I agree no one in Dallas is worried (right now) about what happened last year...or the years before. It might be a different story in a year.  Can't wait to see how the W's do this year...they've peeked the interest of America...
