PUKE ALERT! : Article blasting Foyle Buyout?!!

I ran into this article the other day and was amazed someone with so little basketball iq could write for hoopsworld.

http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_23047.shtml

What I learned from this article is that Foyle was a fan favorite and the Warriors should have shown him more love?

Some quotes below. WARNING: Reading these will make you vomit.

"why not show Adonal some real gratitude and buy him out for the full amount of his deal? The fact that they arranged a discounted buyout of his deal, a buyout that the team has been pursuing for at least a year, shows that this move was made solely to improve the financial flexibility of the franchise, not to show Foyle some respect."

"Heaven forbid Golden State spend a few extra million over the next few years to retain a decent role player and locker room leader. "

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

yeah
Pretty poorly conceived.

Foyle agreed to the buyout and now will get to play for an Eastern contender. Why is this guy so mad about it when Foyle is probably happier?

Questions? Complaints?

Gotta wonder
who's asleep at the wheel over there?  Thought Pree was press for the Warriors?  Hmmm...

Wow
how did this guy get a job as a sports writer? This might be one of the worst sports articles I've ever read. This guy comes across as knowing absolutely nothing about basketball or sports in general. I hope Pree drops this cat a line and shoots some knowledge his way, he needs it bad.

Yeah exactly what OZ said..
Foyle agreed to the buyout. Instead of taking the buyout, he very well could have just sat at the end of the bench for the next two years and collected his millions.  But now he gets to play somewhere else instead of rotting away on the bench, where he'll get probably get at least some playing time.  On top of that he can potentially make even more money while signing and playing for another team, though I doubt it.  It's not like the Warriors are not paying him either. I mean 13 million is a nice chunk of change.  I think the Warriors showed him plenty of love or he wouldn't have been here for the last 10 years.

Amazing
Seems like it would be hard to write an article in which every single point was so mind-numbingly wrong. You have to wonder if the author moonlights for the Bush Administration...

look like
this guy got a handful of the same stuff Starbury was smoking. (See: OT: Best Inverview, Ever).

How on earth is buying out Foyle for 13 or so million dollars mistreating him when the contract he really deserve is the one he'll be signing soon.

Foyle simply gave back to the Warriors for giving him that lucrative contract he doesn't deserve.

Why would you even bring up a POB, Perovic argument? Last time I check, Foyle's salary is second only to   Baron Davis. At least for half the price, they can warm up two seats instead of one.

This article was a month late for April fools.

I'm not even gonna waste time
reading it since the majority of GSoM folks are damned hoops savvy and these comments speak volumes

I wish someone would 'mistreat' me for 13M soon...

I actually haven't read it yet
I'll read it eventually, I guess, just to see what all the fuss is about!

is 'Garrett Wilson' just a screen handle that Adonyl Foyle's agent uses?

hater
The author is obviously a blatant W's hater since he makes not one legit point in the whole article but still felt the need to write the damn article trashing the franchise. Like Kat Williams says "Let haters hate. That's their mo#$^&-fu%&^% job!"

by Lifelong on Aug 19, 2007 5:49 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

wouldn't be surprised
if Garrett Wilson makes an article on how reggie miller is going to return to playing and score over 30 points on his debut.

too late, already threw up
after a couple of lines I read.  Foyle should be embarrassed he stole so much money from the team.

steal?
aint stealing if the team's depositing it straight into your bank account

here guys, i found an actual good article
found this on Warriorsworld

http://www.warriorsworld.net/news/latest/qa-with-geoff-lepper.html

talks about Foyle buyout, resigning Monta and AB, using the TPE, Brandon Wright getting minutes, and MP.

muuuuch better article
good points throughout particularly likelihood of playoffs, Boston trade, and cool to hear the vignette about Artest in locker room ...

... still think too many people are overlooking Memphis, but his comments re GSW early schedule are right on target

thanks for dropping that in pree t zinta

Too good for this thread...
5 years, $50 million is a lot for Andris and I expect Monta to have the bigger contract between the two.  yikes.

I disagree with his assesment that the warriors don't need a pg, and hope the front office doesn't feel the same way.  If the warriors had a true PG to come off the bench, even an average one, in the Utah series, then it would've lasted 6 games easy in my opinion.  And while Ellis may be the future, he's still a combo guard playing behind a very fragile star.

by BingBluNT on Aug 19, 2007 10:25 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well
I agree with his points on how the Warriors are kind of getting rid of the people who've really stuck with them. Aaand the points that Adonal is a community leader, locker room leader, and fan favourite.

Grah! It's SO DAMN HARD TO DISAGREE WITH AN ARTICLE THAT ACTUALLY COMPLIMENTS ADONAL! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Reguardless, I think the guy is a good writer, he's just talking about a fanbase and history he knows nothing about. It would be like me writing about the frigging Bucks.

And a certain realization has come on to me recently: What if Foyle ends up like Drew Bledsoe? What if he just got released from his contract for the team, and has no interest? Now that would really kill me. And as each day passes, it becomes more and more of a possiblility.

MR. WIIIIIIIILSON
Now Adonal Foyle has to pay for Mullin's mistakes. Instead of getting to bask in the success of the franchise he gave his heart and soul to, Foyle gets the boot after the team's first successful season of his decade of service.

I don't think you should continue to get paid millions just to contribute your heart and soul and nothing more.  If this WILSON character gave his heart and soul to HOOPSWORLD, but couldn't write if his life depended on it, then he should get bought out too!

FOYLE will be missed by not being on the team, but not by being on the court.

Garrett Wilson
I don't read his articles anymore. He is extremely pessimistic and doesn't seem to understand that there is a financial side to basketball as well.  Here's an older article that really made me decide that this guy really has no idea what he is talking about.

http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_22835.shtml

In the Foyle article, he blames Mullin for handing out the large contracts but in this article it seems like he wants them to do the same things.  He just wants moves for the sake of making moves and he seems to have some sort of vendetta against Mullin.  He can have his opinion but that doesn't mean I have to read.
