Report: Adonal to Orlando *Now Official*

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orl-bk-foyle082207,0,2019944.story

Obviously Howard's the man there, but Otis Smith really blew it when he gave away the franchise's future for Rashard Lewis while ignoring Milicic's existence. Foyle actually has a good chance of getting PT there, as they are desperately thin in the front court. Congrats and good luck, Adonal.

[Moderator's Note, by OptionZero:]

The signing is now official.

According to user djchuckdeez:

The Orlando Magic signed free agent center Adonal Foyle on Friday, bringing in a shot blocker to join star Dwight Howard in the front court. Source: Yahoo Sports

I am happy for him, I think he'll probably see some more pt too.

Good for Adonal
Foyle + Howard = Orlando's twin towers?
The Magic will sign Foyle to the NBA veteran's minimum of $1.3 million (based on his 10 years of experience).

Can't really say I'm surprised that Foyle's getting only the veteran's minimum.  But at least he'll get some play time down there.

Obviously the money dried up with
Rashard Lewis, otherwise Foyle would have gotten paid again! (Not really, but the Rashard deal is another one of Orlando's track record of overspending for non-top tier talent.)

Adonal in a non Warriors uni will take a little getting used to, glad he found another team quickly nonetheless.

yeah I was expecting this
they really needed a frontcourt

I'd heard Orlando's frontcourt
was thin, but this is crazy. The other team mentioned in Foyle rumors was the Celtics, and they have Garnett, Kendrick Perkins, and a bunch of 6'8 and under dudes...

The only other team in the league that is that thin up front is the Warriors, who just paid Foyle millions of dollars to NOT play for them. I'm confused...

This frustrates me
Everyone is saying that the reason Foyle chose Orlando was because it was so close to his Caribbean home .. c'mon man that's just silly. It's a long trip regardless of where he's at!

Adonal wanted to win and he wanted to contribute. He's going to get the second thing in Orlando, but Boston was the place to go.

I agree
it's kinda like when they said Eduardo Najera should be glad to play in Dalls because it is cloes to Mexico....

Agree. . . .
This is what Foyle said about playing with the Magic:
This was an opportunity for me to play again,'' he said. "If I wanted to stay in this league for a few more years, I needed the chance to show I could play. I left money on the table. I took a cut, but I want to have fun playing basketball again. This is going to be good.''

The guy wants to have some more fun and want to play and to show what he is made of.

Good luck Adonal!

Sorry, I slept 13 hours yesterday....
But reguardless, he will succeed there. It really sucks he could'nt of gotten a chmpionship run to Boston. He had little to no cometition there. Now in Orlando, he has to compete with 3 year tenured Tony Battie, the threat of them going small ball and playing soem Rashard at PF, and, hell, Pat Garrity, James Augustine, and Mikolan Rakovic. Lets all pray it doesn't get to that.

I know you will succeed, ADONAL!

SORRY
to say that there are a lot of players out there that "should" have deserved a taste at a championship themselves that have actually done something for the sport, not just by being a nice guy on the bench.

I'm sure he'll get some PT down there and I hope he makes the best of it, but after all these years on the bench, do you really think that he'll be able to dust off the rust?  If his hands were like pans while he was playing, what more now?

Pan-hands + rust = 1.2 pts, 3 reb, 1 asst, 2 to/game.

He is a great person so I wish him the best!

Didn't Orlando
try to sign him when he was a free agent with the MLE? But then Mullin gave him that contract.  So now Orlando could get him for the minimum.

Foyle "City" Jerseys....
Yes! Now his Jersey will be like 20 bucks at the team store! (No disrespect) I've always wanted to be the odd ball at Dave and Busters rockin' a Foyle Jersey and Patron' in my hand!
