Article about Warrior Fans

A must read for any fanatical Warrior fan.

There definitely was a rabid fever when playoffs came around for us but it looks like the Warriors Organization is just as crazy about us as we are of them.

Contra Costa times had an excerpt of this but here's the link to the article.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601039&sid=avTJVVh2DK9A&refer=home

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

*Appears through the cloud of smoke*
Although I've almost dissappeared from GSOM for about 4 months and did not plan to come back ever, (or at least 'til the season started), I had to come out of my seclusion when I came across this diary.  Great post.  That article gave me chills.  For people who know what Bloomberg actually is, and to see that a journalist reached out and got that type of response from our beloved organization, speaks WONDERS for the direction we're heading in.

1 Dub.

(Dissappears again)

*Blinks eyes*
No way!

Welcome back GSD. Life here hasn't been quite the same without you. For one thing, your old friend Coma seems to have lost his edge without you here to spar with...

Anyway I'll read the article. Look forward to hearing more from you when the season starts.

1Dub!

wtf
I find that to be a load of crap, personally. I just got something deleted in THIS thread. Taste it.

Yay! That's the old Coma!
Clearly you and GSDubz need each other...

PS
What'd you get deleted?

If you said something like

werwerwer, who the fvck cares if the Warriors PR office gives a bandwagon fan a buncha free stuff? I'd rather have Kevin Garnett.

I'd agree with you 100%. ;-D

I just said this place is better off without GSDubz. It's not like I told a lie or anything.

Well
It's true that the flame wars involving him did get pretty intense. I got a full taste of it occasionally, as did Atma, DJFL, and pretty much all the regular posters here. Somehow it seemed to get the most personal with you two.

On the other hand, he was/is a pretty interesting guy, and some of the debates he ignited with his screeds were pretty fun to read. He brought up a lot of hot-button cultural, social and race issues that I think are part of what sets this site apart from other pure hoops blogs. Sometimes it's a fine line between being provocative and just provoking people.

I don't even really remember any flame wars with him. Seriously. No one is safe with me. I don't single anyone out.

His contract!
He gets a dollar, an autograph by Mully and gets 10 dollars for appearing in warriors game. I want a contract now lol

heartwarming
i visit daily and comment almost rarely, but this just warmed my heart. i'm so proud...like a father seeing his son hit the game winner. i wonder if st jean would have offered the lifetime contract also.

side thought: i know we have all pushed this out of our minds, but reading this i wonder if this is how we treated garnett? how could he turn that down???

by sandstorm on Aug 29, 2007 11:02 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

same here
I'm a regular visitor but haven't made any comments until today. I really wanted to share that with everyone. I was actually shocked it was an article from bloomberg but the Playoffs really was great national exposure for our Warriors and fans as well.

Hopefully this year will be better. :) Bellinelli really has biiig shoes to fill...

Great Organization
is a great match with great fans, now if we could just get a bunch of customized jerseys, promo dvds, and contracts for everyone on GSoM

by FoyledAgain on Aug 30, 2007 1:01 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

wow
that was impressive.

It shows that they take that insane playoff environment as something special which must be cultivated.  Re-enforce that they feel that Warrior fans are special and that the team understands that.   Keep the sense of pride going.

what a great article
it truly shows that the organization cares as much about its fans and the fans care about the team.

another reason that makes me proud to call the Warriors my team.

this is a random
thought. i would love to chant we want foyle when playing against orlando lol. that would be hella tight. haha

by baller90210 on Aug 30, 2007 2:43 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Or
we could chant useless when we play Orlando.

by J Rich 4 MVP on Aug 30, 2007 4:53 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

w/e we chant
we should show our appreciation towards foyle same way were gonna do it to richardson. even though foyle wasn't didn't have that big of an impact for our playoff run on the court im sure he has had some influence on the younger guys, like beans and monta.
just my opinion. i know there will be some bitchy person who will say FOYLE WASN'T SHIT, SO FUCK HIM.

by baller90210 on Aug 30, 2007 5:43 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

okay.
Foyle really wasn't S*%T, so F&$K HIM.

That guy BETTER
be a Warriors fan now. Wooooow. Lets all email them now!

(Hahahahaha, I'd never be that cruel.)

But man, congrats to the Warriors staff. Hopefully this continues.

Too bad that the article doesn't pertain to me, and that I chose the Warriors. Zip codes don't own me!!!!

Does it work if you're already a Dubs fan?

wow
I doubt they would do that for just anyone.  I think the W's were just smart enough to know that this guy was a sports writer and they probably figured it out that he was gonna do a column about this.  Hate to sound cynical, but for Mullin to actually participate in putting together that package means to me that they figured it would be overall good PR for the club.

by ssmokinjoe on Aug 30, 2007 9:11 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

am i the only guy who doubts this actually ever
happened.  dude did not sign a freakin one dollar contract.  i would believe that they treated him nicely maybe through a free poster or thunder doll at him while offering him a ticket package, but no way in hell all of that stuff he was talking about goes down exactly like he said it did.  a we believe T shirt with his face on it?!?! wtf?  YEAH... HAHA
