IDEA: Buy/Sell Warrior Gear Section
Hi GSoMers I just came up with an idea to make this site have some trading which doesn't deal with players. I was wondering if there can be a section where fans can post up there W's gear and stuff online that they're willing to sell. Either it's just me, or its pretty hard trying to find some good warriors jerseys, shirts, other goods, etc. If there can be like a "niketalk" or "ISS" forum for warriors gear if you know what I mean.
So it would be coo if OZ, Atma, or anyone else who can post some kind of buy/sell/trade thread of some sort on the main page. Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks. Pro
Btw let me know if u guys are interested since theres not many Monta jerseys out there.

[Moderator's Note, by OptionZero] Ebay link removed. Checking in with Atma to see how we handle buying/selling of goods. As far as I know, this isn't a classifieds.
This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Classified?
on the next level is ebay, which has the big money and software in place
it's not just as easy as opening up a classifieds section.
First of all, you need to set up guidelines for what can be sold/not sold.
Second, you have to worry about the liability. What if there's a scam that uses GSoM? Are we gonna get sued? Will the site take the hit? You can't take this lightly. Whenever money is changing hands, there's the possibility of abuse. I highly doubt SB Nation and GSoM wants to get caught up in any trouble.
Third, the website itself isn't nearly functional enough. There's no direct private message system, the diary section is pretty bare. New posts stack on top of each other, with no way of being bumped. Moderators do not have the power to edit comments.
Again, this just seems unnecessary and complicated. There are better alternatives out there already.
This isn't something I'd have the power to do, but those are my thoughts on the matter. You'd have to email Atma and the crew for more information.
Questions? Complaints?

Make it simple
As for the legal jazz, people just use GSOM as a free place to post some items. Then people can just contact each other via email. GSOM could just post a disclaimer on the diary, thread, whatever.
I don't know. Just throwing some ideas out there.

Going to have to say no
Right now, the site is set up to be about content around the Warriors and basketball, not for advertising items being sold. Like OZ said, there are other avenues for you to sell your stuff such as ebay and craigslist that proven to be successful without help from GSoM.
I don't want this site to turn into a classifieds section and I'm sure the majority of people would prefer the site to not have any of this kind of information on it.
Thanks for the idea. We'll discuss it with the SB Nation heads before moving any further on it.

CITY "WE BELIEVE" SHIRTS
If you're worried about liabilities, just make a disclaimer that says that GSoM is not responsible for any transactions made between buyer and seller through this website or something like that. Let the buyer contact the seller through their email address in their profile which doesn't have to be private, etc.
Also, they're only asking for something on the side somewhere or another link for EXTRAS or something like that. Maybe instead of posting an entire ad or something, it could just be a description of the product and a link to their craigslist or ebay posting.
I'm actually a season ticket holder myself and I've thought how it would be great to sell tix to other fans in some sort of forum like this, but decided against it only because I wasn't sure how people would take it, but it seems like it wouldn't be a bad place to go read about news, rumors and reports, and also be able to find out about gear and tickets, etc.
Just a thought! Whether you guys do it or not, won't make me not want to visit the site or anything, but then watch out for people posting diaries during the regular season or playoffs trying to sell their tickets.
