According to ESPN's Marc Stein:The teams that combined on December's Allen Iverson blockbuster trade are hooking up for another deal Monday, according to NBA front-office sources.
Philadelphia and Denver have agreed on a deal expected to send reserve center Steven Hunter and second-year forward Bobby Jones to Iverson's Nuggets for forward Reggie Evans and the draft rights to Puerto Rican forward Ricky Sanchez.
The trade is scheduled to be announced later Monday.
Frankly, I think Philadelphia got robbed on this one.
Reggie Evans had something like 4 years, $5M/per on his contract left, so this saves some money (Hunter makes $3m/year for 3 more years)
Steven Hunter had been a pretty good shotblocker prior to last year (still was decent), and he's still young and cheap. I still remember him being a good backup for Amare a couple years ago.
The Sixers drafted Jason Smith and Herbert Hill this year to play PF. They will not win a darn thing this year, maybe challenging for the 8th seed at best in the East. Hunter is a true center that defends, which is more valuable than a rebounding PF that doesn't defend or score
I don't know much about this Ricky Sanchez, but he better turn out to be useful.
