CAL FOOTBALL

Greetings from a Cal freshman...

LET'S GO BEARS!!!!!

What did you all think of the first game this season? I thought it pretty much lived up to expectations--Cal had an outstanding offense, but not much defense. However, Cal seemed to be able to get stops when they needed to, which was good to see. Longshore looked pretty nice, and Jackson was nothing short of spectacular, but how about Forsett and the youngun Best? It's scary to think of the top wide recieving core in the nation together with some nice options at RB. 40ppg anyone? I like.

What did you guys see in the first game that you liked? What needs to be improved on? How about Cal's upcoming schedule? National Title condenders? How high do you think Cal jumped in the rankings? Discuss all CAL FOOTBALL topics in this diary!!!

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Jahvid Best
will be spectacular
Hiesman watch in 2 years.
Forsett also looked great
Desean pitched his case for the Hiesman well
Defense needs to step it up in the big games

speed
it seems like anyone who gets to touch the ball has extreme speed. forsett, jackson, best, hawkins, jordan..theyre all quick.

i was there
and your right, everybody has extreme speed and Longshore has way too many weapons.

Desean Jackson said Jahvid Best is Lil' Bush.

i hope we win a championship soon

Can't believe
Best is a freshman.  That guy is a big play waiting to happen, and hopefully he'll become the regular 3rd down guy.  Hawkins obviously was able to take advantage of single coverage.

But the game ball has to go to Longshore:  What a difference one year makes.  If Cal can stay focused and their D can make a stop or two, this could be the year....

who
would have ever thought jahvid was going to be a hella good college player and potentially a pro.

why did u know him?
he was the top running back recruit in the area or the bay area or something last year i think that makes him hella good unless u knew him since he was a kid or something.

As a USC fan.....
I have to admit that the Bears looked very fast offensively.  I think they have to find ways to get D.J. more touches on the offensive side of the ball, b/c he is absolutley electric.  I think the defense's lack of strength and poor tackling must improve if they hope to actually do anything this year (ie not just win the Holiday Bowl).  Forsett looked great, and I can't wait to see the Junior or Senior version of Jahvid Best go up against Junior/ Senior version of Joe McKnight.  Should be awesome, peace, dan
FIGHT ON

Great win
Now they just got to keep it going and not lose motivation agoinst the lesser opponents in the next few games.  BCS or bust...

OMG....
You have the best webpin that will EVER be created. Coming from someone who is obsessed with Kwelis music...this caught my eye fast.

Oh...and yea, Cal smashed on the Lady Vols. I was there as well...and will be there for every game. My boy is DJ Seeley on the Bear basketball team, watch out for him this year...for those of you who follow Cal basketball, you KNOW who my boy is.

i hope we win a championship soon

I was there too
The crowd was great! They really willed the Bears defense into key stops. I remember we were chanting DeSean Jackson as the Vols first punted, and DeSean really responded, lol.

Revenge is sweet! I bet we shoot up to at least 9th in the rankings. Michigan drops to about 22, after probably the biggest upset ever. SEC? Sorry Excuse for a College! Pac-10 all the way!

Cal vs USC for the championship bowl bid. I'll be there.

The Cal game was GREAT
...but not nearly as great as Appalachian State's upset of Bichigan.

LOL!
Michigan should just forfeit the whole friggin season for that loss.

man
i do not watch a lot of college sports, but i did watch that game and let me tell you, i will be watching a lot more cal games.  that game was awesome, that team is awesome and very exciting.  It was cool seeing the local phenom jahvid Best.  i believe that he was the top running back recruit last year, second was one of my really good friends Brandon Rutley.

top recruits rb
Brandon Rutley? hell no! hes good but he plays for sjsu, he got no touches in the 3-45 loss. i played against the guy when he was a sophmore and a junior, and i know a lot about the guy... i also played against another san jose RB camron jordan... very fast fast fast kid like javid best... but his surrounding team sucked. so we crushed them.
i got an elevator in my house...... thats f'ing ridiculous

you don't know what your talking about
Cal was recruiting Rutley also.  Tedford came to our school and watched one of our home games where he dominated.  the only reason he had to settle for San Jose state is because of grades.  he wasn't able to take the required classes for UCs and he isn't even able to play football this year, but trust me dude, he is legit.  idk who you are, but he will shake the sh*t out of you.  he had games where he rushed for like 300 yards and stuff.

cal didnt offer a scholarship to him
look, hes a great player, but he was not a top 2 RB... ever!

they could have if Best didn't work
out and dude he didn't have grades.  as soon as people found out he wasn't eligible for UCs they stopped talking to him

by Proof on Sep 4, 2007 9:24 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

scratch that 300 yard shit
he once ran for 393 yards last year.

by Proof on Sep 3, 2007 10:14 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

he was "only" ranked
208th in the entire country and that is while missing two games and being slowed down by an ankle injury his senior year.
