What's The Go

Is it just me or does it seem like every time the Warriors start to be look like more than just a good team and it looks like we are going to move up the standings with some solid play. We go back to losing a couple of games that we should of won, and we go back to being just a good team.

Star-divide

Then when we are down and in a bit of trouble we win a bunch of games and suddenly we are back to the stage of going from a good team to what seems like an elite team.

Its like the warriors are trying to be just a good enough team instead of trying being a great team.

Maybe thats all we can be with the current squad we have, a good team.

i tried to make as much sense with this as i can, but it was hard to say exactly what i thought.

Only my second post and i still feel new to this, it's hard telling people what I feel.

8th place in the West...
I think that makes us just a good team.  We're not great or elite for sure, but we're also not just mediocre or sucky either.

The reality is that we could just as easily become a great team as we would a crap team.  I'm hoping that the latter is in our near future.

I pray i never have to use a gun again.

Er ... the latter?
Yes, I know what you meant. ;-)

I'm not at all persuaded that "we could just as easily become a great team as we [c]ould a crap team." We're one legit big man away from being a great team; and legit big men may be the hardest thing in the league to come by. Meanwhile, all it would take for us to become a bad team is an injury to Baron's fragile wheels (knocks wood furiously).

But yeah, for now we're basically "good": a #7-10 seed in a ridiculously tough conference. No reason to think we're on the cusp of some magical blossoming or major collapse.

oops
Yeah i meant the former of course.

I agree that the right big man would put us in the "great" category easily.  And if the chemistry were right then we'd be tearing up the west.  Look what an improved and healthy Bynum did for the Lakers.  At the same time we saw what an absent Stack Jack did to the Warriors start and we all know that an absent Baron would kill us.

I pray i never have to use a gun again.

Thanks Guys
Thanks heaps its 2.05 AM here and ive been waiting for some comments/ideas.

I agree about the baron thing but i think the legit/elite big man isn't as important. I think we could easily become a great team with a guy who brings hustle intangible's and good interior defense. We have biedrins, but he has moved away from his shot blocking factor a bit. We need an intimidator a guy people dont feel safe attacking someone like Alonzo Mournig before the injury with some running game to come off the bench.

If there are players out there (im unsure) post some ideas.

Cusp of greatness
I think the only thing holding us back from being an elite team is lack of depth and a legit power forward. Watching the game last night, a lot of the players looked gassed. Nellie is playing an eight man rotation and has a short leash on his subs. If they perform well, they get minutes, if not they get yanked and a starter comes back in. A bit more production from our bench will keep the starters fresh.
I also hate to see when Nelson puts Harrington at center and goes small. I assume this is a neccessity as POB seems to be glued to the bench and we don't have a legit back up to Biedrins (Croshere is the poor man's version of Harrington.)
If we can fill those needs, I think we have a good shot of getting deep into the playoffs.
