Iverson edges McGrady

This could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it.

Good news, McGrady is out and Iverson is in, creating another guarenteed spot for a guard. Baron Davis takes the spot and ends yet another draught of a Warrior not making the All Star Game.

Bad news, Baron loses rest and risks possible injury attending and playing in the game instead of taking much needed days off for a rest.

So now that AI's in, is Baron a shoe-in?

There's Nash, CP3, Kobe for sure. B Roye may be another possible. Manu, Tony, Deron probably don't make it.

Call me stupid (please don't) but there is no possible way they can exempt Baron this year. Will he get snubbed?

Baron Deserves It!
Although it would realistically be good to keep Baron out of the all-star game for some much needed rest, us Warrior fans want an all-star. Its' been too damn long since we've had one. I personally think Monta should get a roster spot so Baron could rest, but I of course know that's not going to happen.

TNT Pregame
MAgic Johnson couldnt decide if the last spot should go to Baron Or Captain Jack, so he said they both deserve to go

Charles Barkley didnt even mention Baron Davis, but said that Mr. Jackson deserves to go.

Stephen Jackson?
are you kidding me? He's good but hes nowhere near all stars good.

well I think both said they picked him
because they wanted to "show love" to him, and because they knew he wouldn't really make it...

amazingly good news for Baron's all star chances
Basically opens another spot for him. Sweet!

I don't really think the all-star game presents significant injury risk. It's one extra game where he'll probably play something like 20 minutes, and they will be easy minutes because no one will be playing defense.

Wow
Just to show you how useless fan voting is ---

Yi Jianlian has only 50k less votes than Baron Davis.

Yeah.

I wish i could say Baron is gonna be an allstar...
but realistically....there is no chance.

steve nash, and chris paul are basically gaurenteed to be allstar reserves, and those are the only to spots for a guard. And even if some how chris paul didnt get picked by the coaches, brandon roy would likely be the next candidate, followed by baron. but with the coaches voting maybe they will be able to pick the real allstar out of those four, and vote baron for 08*. im crossing my fingers, but it doesnt look to good.

i never heard of maximum of 5 guards
I'm pretty sure the bench has to be 2 guards 2 forwards, 1 center, then 2 of anything for a total of 7 bench spots. So if the 2 of anything are both guards (as it probably should be for the West this year) there will be 6 guards including starters

Baron over Roy
Look at the stats and Baron gets the nod over Roy. Baron is up in scoring and has hit more clutch shots than Roy. Baron is finally getting some love around the league. He's in fo sho.

this probably does nothing for baron
unless it hurts camby - since it's hard to justify having 3 nuggets in the game.

nash, cp3 are shoe-ins and for one of the wild card spots (the 2nd one will probably go to a big) roy & ginobili are probably going to get more consideration than baron b/c of the better team records. deron's probably out b/c of the record as well. parker is unlikely to go over manu.

stoudemire, nowitzki, boozer are shoe-ins for the back up center and 2 back up fwd spots w/ either camby, josh howard, marion, west, or chandler probably getting a wild card spot.. gasol & kaman likely won't get consideration b/c of their team's records.

it also hurts baron that they were 1-6 w/o sjax. there's no way the team would go 25-12 if baron wasn't there, but it definitely won't help him.

it does do something for Baron
it opens up another roster spot, which is huge.
Reasoning is that coaches will choose Baron over T-Mac, but they will choose AI over Baron.

B Roy is good but
Baron is the real all star.  Roy will probably make many an all star game in his bright future, but Baron deserves it now.  He's playing ridiculous bal this season (for most games, that is).

Unfortunately, someone else will probably get the nod over BD, because some coaches hold a grudge over BD which is absolutely ridiculous -- guys like George Karl, Byron Scott -- good coaches, but to not vote a dude in just because of a stupid grudge?  Come on man, these are adults here.  Gimme a break!  For BD not to make it would be blasphemy. Pure and simple.
