Damon Stoudamire to be bought out

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3215868

stoudamire is a name that has been floated around gsom as a possible candidate for backup pg. i for one think he would be a good fit, much better than payton anyway. i still don't think that watson should be replaced at all however, as he has done absolutely nothing to show that he isn't capable of doing the job. thoughts?

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

realistically
He'll probably want to sign on with Boston or Phoenix, so it's really insignificant to us.

Besides, CJ Watson is doing a fine job so far.

agreed
we've addressed the backup PG issue for this season, all that's left is to sign CJ through season's end

anyone see what buyout ended up at? (link?) 80% off contract seemed a lot to leave on the table even for an NBA player

doesn't matter to him
Stoudamire's contract gives him 4 million this year and next. However he has to play a certain amount of minutes for him to get all of that money, otherwise the salary is halved I believe. So the amount of money that he would recieve from the buyout would be insignificant considering there's no way he is going to fulfill the contractual agreement. Conley is their PG gaurd of the future, Lowry is also a solid prospect, and JC Navarro could also fill in minutes at the point. Memphis only waited this long to buy him out to see if they could fetch something in return for him. That is the reason he was starting at the beginning of the season. It was sort of a showcase for him.

meh.
IMO C.J is gonna fill that 6-12 min/game PG spot as good as anyone I can see remotely available to us.

Sure, Mighty Mouse is a vet and all...
but when it comes down to it, Baron is the guy and Nelson ain't resting him! We might like to see him get a little more rest but Nelson plays his best players and Baron is our best player. Simple.

GP is slightly different because that could me more fun.

CJ For DJ?
Can I get a hell yes?!  I think Mr. Watson will out perform DJ as a back up player and do it for a guy like Baron.  BD needs his rest and CJ will fit in well, especially with whats available out there now.  Sign his arse now!  Get C Webb too, I'd be fun to see him come back to the Bay.
