Artest to warriors trade

This just seen on rotoworld.com

"Ron Artest might not be with the Kings after the February 21st trade deadline passes, as Kings president Geoff Petrie admitted on Wednesday that the team is listening to all offers for the talented, troublesome forward.

"They say 'Where there's sparks, there's fire?'," Petrie said. "Well we're still at the stage where you're rubbing two sticks together." The Kings have reportedly discussed a trade with the Nuggets, Knicks and Heat, but nothing has progressed beyond inquiries. Artest is good enough that he'll maintain fantasy value no matter where he lands. "

The warriors should do everything they can to land artest. We need a defensive stopper like him. What do you guys think we would need to give up to get him?

And should the warriors be on the phone trying to land artest?

Remember a few years ago when there were huge rumors about Artest to the warriors...

this thread
has been visited over and over again.  there are many opinions.  however only one is valid.

if there were no chemistry issues, acquiring artest without giving up our core(in other words trading complete trash like MICKAEL PIETRUS, and my boy POB plus pick...which btw no sane team would do, because would you want that garbage? BUT IF we can swing something like that) would make us a title contender.

run on sentence

actually, webber might make us a title contender. no joke.

nellie should play wright more. and also, POB! hes a beast. and he can shoot a jump shot! u have no excuses nellie.

we believe jrich

dont for get
POB patent sky hook!!!  it is so damn smooth...

by maybenextyear on Jan 31, 2008 11:15 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

no way we can only give up PIETRUS but...
I would be willing to give up wright and pietrus for artest... crazy I know considering we gave up jrich for him.

BUT WHO WOULDNT BE HAPPY WITH ARTEST ON THE DUBS?!!!?

by cuse7284 on Jan 31, 2008 11:21 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

I wouldn't...
,,,but that's me. Also, while I've conceded that POB may never work for us, I maintain he's gonna be a great NBA center.

If we can get Artest for crap...
Then let's do it.  But JWill is better crap than they're going to get from us... and we're in their division.  It's not gonna happen.  Sorry.

Yes it is crazy
It makes no sense to deal B.Wright for Artest who has peeked. If you watch Sacto his game is no where near what it was in Indiana. Besides in 4 years when he's moved on to another squad we'll be getting beat down's from B.Wright 4 times a year ala Webber & Richmond.

Look yes Nellie isn't playing Wright now. But remember Jamison, Murphey, Hughes, etc...All came on in March/April of their rookie years and went on to bigger and better things. So you can't give up on the kid for a role player until you see what he has after a year in the bigs.

The only players who make sense for us now, are inexpensive and short term, and availible are Charlie V, Joe Smith, & Channing Frye.

Agreed. Trading within division is rough. But...
you think JWill is better than Pietrus and Wright? or Pietrus and a draft pick?

by cuse7284 on Jan 31, 2008 11:40 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

Wright/draft pick
Neither Wright or our first rounder count as "crap".  If they want Pietrus and our second rounder, let's do it, though we'll have to find some extra cap fodder out there somewhere and it'll be hard.  Artest is good, but he's still not going to spell Baron, he's a headcase, and Jax got suspended for 35 games last time he and Artest were on the same team...  It's just not a good recipe.  If we can get him on the cheap, ok, but other teams will offer better than I think we should.

Nope
I don't think either one is worth it. I don't care about trading i the division or conference as long as it is the best deal you can get. In Baseball the Twins screwed themselves by trading their best player for 4 suspects just so they wouldn't have to see him again instead of getting better deals from NYY or Boston.

I think Wright can give us something we are missing hieght and athleticism. Artest doesn't give us anything w don't already have and he has no potential he's only going to maintain or get worse.

JWill is toast. I don't think we make a move unless we get a player who adds somethig different while fitting in with our style ala Mike Miller, Charlie V, etc...We don't need 6'6 to 6'8 guys who play like big men or big gaurds. We need height, 3 point shooting, speed, health, or pg skills.

I don't see Artest and JWill at this point doing that for us.

Lets try not to assemble the Pacers team from 5 years ago. The only thing that will make the trade work is the TPE, Jackson and TMNT, no other salaries can match Artest without giving up like 5 for 1 so there is no plausible way the Kings help a rival and take the TPE since his contract is expiring next year and could be a good trading piece and we surely aren't going to break up our core to acquire Ron Ron.

Something else
John Salmons and Francisco Garcia are better players than Pietrus, so I don't see Pietrus ending up with the Kings.

I think it could happen
Nelson loves Artest's game - always talks about him as one of the only 2-way players in the league. And Mullin is friendly with him. If we could use the trade exemption - why not - I think we could really have a shot at going all of the way if Webber can play like he did for the Pistons last year. We would fare much better against the big teams in the playoffs. May as well gamble and go for the glory.

What would possess you to ever want to trade for Moore? You can't just match salaries and call it good man, think about the shit contracts we shed by getting rid of Dunleavy, Murphy, Richardson and Foyle, there was a reason why we were stuck financially, lets not go adding Moore's horrible contract. There are already a ton of personalities on this team, no need for Ron Ron to join the group. Also why in Gods name would you want to throw Wright in the trade? Some people just have no clue. Think before you type.
