Marcus makes a really good point!

For those of you who do not read Marcus Thompson and Geoff Leppers blog, I wanted to point you to the entry from last night's game since I think it is particularly insightful.

http://www.ibabuzz.com/warriors/2008/01/07/oracle-struggles/

And even though I thought Capt Jax was MIA for the first 48 minutes last night in one of his anger funks, I still agree in general and specifically with what Marcus wrote about the Warrior mentality at the Oracle.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

couldn't agree more
lately ive found myself cringing when the warriors play and almost unable to watch. i'd love for warriors fans to start chanting, ATTACK THE RIM everytime the warriors get into these funks and start dropping 3's every time down the court. The fact is, the warriors don't attack the rim enough, and it prevents them from both A. Getting easy points, or B. Getting to the foul line. It's hard to be critical of officiating based on trips to the free throw line cause i know the warriors bail out their opponents far too often.

The warriors have so much speed and athleticism that its just sad sometimes to see them give up on it in favor of a 3. The worst part is, they don't even have any high percentage shooters on the team, only high volume haha.

its frustrating to me
to see "fans" begin to hate on the atmosphere at the oracle. so what if jax put up a misguided three. they were up big, and the shot ultimately had little bearing on the game. jackson is a confidence shooter and he would take that shot in any arena. besides, its the best place to watch an NBA game on the planet. and where does this marcus come up with his stats? jackson is shooting over 30% from three, not 20.

While I might...
...agree in theory, wrong example to use. I was at the game, and I seem to remember that Jack had just enough time to hoist the open three, a much better shot than an attempt to extend to the basket with 1 1/2 seconds would've been.

huh?
He says that those type of plays is why the Warriors are 8-7 at Oracle Arena? And then he says Stephen Jackson passed up on sticking the dagger?

OK? How are you going to stick a dagger on the Spurs in only the first half? And most of those losses at Oracle were during our 0-6 start without Jackson anyways. The guy does make somewhat of a point, but it's not THAT big enough of a mistake to make a whole article for. wow. The fact is that we still won the game. But then Marc decides to ignore that and he makes an article on some play we did to end the first half.

one of many
it's not just one mistake. How many times have you seen the Warriors do that? I've seen one too many. He had Monta and Baron flying towards the rim, so it's safe to say there was enough time for an easy lay-up. It was a good and very valid point how the Warriors opt for an ill-advised 3 one too many times. I for one am glad, Baron has cut back on those and would love to see SJax do the same.
