Around SBN: How Not To Criticize Tom Brady For The Patriots' Loss

jeff van gundy gettin paid (off topic)

to change the subject from depressing monta ellis news.

jeff van gundy just signed a five year deal with ESPN to remain a color commentator with mike breen and mark jackson.

http://www.nba.com/2008/news/10/13/espn.announcements/

i didn't think i would, but i actually like jeff van gundy as a color commentator. he does, i think, a better job of explaining somewhat complicated defensive sets to the average viewer, and he makes mike breen look like less of an idiot. plus, i like him way better as a broadcaster than i did when he was a coach.

so how do you feel about van gundy being the voice of sunday ABC basketball for years to come?

The bases were drunk, and I painted the black with my best yakker. But blue squeezed me, and I went full. I came back with my heater, but the stick flares one the other way and the chalk flies for two bases. Three earnies! Next thing I know, skipper hooks me and I'm sipping suds with the clubby.

Definitely in the booth

He’s energetic, he gets into the game, and it’s fun to listen to him get fired up about things, like the “verbal flop”, calling Steve Nash “ambifootus”, or telling the Warriors and the Suns to play each other right through the all star game.

And I think Mike Breen is actually very good on play by play. I consider him second only to Marv Albert in terms of listenability and matching the flow of the game.

But in other news, Magic Johnson defected from TNT and will be joining ESPN?!? Why?

dunno about magic

yeah, point taken about breen. he is good at play by play, and certainly an improvement from al michaels. those were dark days.

still though, give me bob “luke” costas and collins anyday.

You win the dumbest topic of the year award.

Who the hell wakes up one morning wondering about Jeff Van Gundy? Did you bang your head?

I've tried to create 3

But evidently they got deleted because they should have been fanshots…which is ok with me but alsoi why I am wondering why this thread still exists?

some relevance to GSW

is that JVG is one less veteran coach in the mix when we have to go looking … which is just around the corner

not promoting this per se, but curious when the “who’d be our next coach” posts start appearing regularly on GSOM (same with GM)
