Warriors Upset against Mavericks NOT 'Mind Blowing'?

Did anyone watch the Best Damn Sports Show's "Top 100 Most Mind Blowing Sports Moments"?

It was a really good list, but they left out the Warriors upset against the Mavericks from 2007. I might be the only one feeling this way, but I got a little offended (Not emo, but I was just like "aww wtf. no love?").

So yeah, anyone feel like the 2007 'We Believe' Warriors aren't getting enough recognition? I'm not trying to be picky or anything, I know that the Warriors got their props. It's just that now it feels like people are thinking that the upset resulted because of the "Mavericks sucking", instead of the "Warriors being good".

Sorry for bringing up another topic about the 2007 playoffs, I just wanted to see how people felt about this. Whether or not the Warriors were really good that year, or if we weren't really that good at all and the upset wasn't all that great.

Yeah

At first, I was like “It’s ok if the Warriors don’t make the list. After all, this is the TOP 100 EVER in all of sports. There’s too many crazy that has happened in sports history that i’m pretty sure there will be many great moments that will have to be left out”.

Once I saw the list, I was like damn WTF how did some of these plays/moments make it over the Warriors upset over the Mavs??

Am i the only one that thinks

the Michael Jordan play where he goes up and reverses hands is completely overrated? I mean, there was absolutely no need for him to switch hands. No one was in front of him. I actually hate that play.

And it was completely ridiculous that the Warriors werent on there

My pictures never show up here, so this is my new Signature

yeah i know

I’ve always thought that same way about the play. It was just the fact that he’s Michael Jordan, people tend to magnify a lot of his plays. I’m not saying that his clutch shots weren’t great, just the ones like the one you mentioned. If it was someone like Kelenna Azubuike doing that play, no one would really mark it in the history highlights as a great play.

Take a look at this play by J-Rich

If that was Michael Jordan, the commentators/broadcasters would have gone crazy and said something to make the play look AND sound great in the history books. Video editors would put that play in extra slow motion during highlight reels and documentaries, to show the finesse of the play or whatever. Don’t get me wrong though, i’m not trying to discredit Michael Jordan at all. I’m just talking about the hype given on his most simple moves.

Nah

It’s updated. They had Michael Phelps winning his gold medals in China at the number 2 spot. Number one was Team USA winning the Gold Medal in hockey or somethin.

it's not a big deal

i loved those games but the upset wasn’t ‘mind-blowing’ at all. gsw had owned the mavericks in 3 or 4 straight contests as an unheralded team. gsw had been blowing teams out with 20 point leads, playing great defense, and the offense was the most potent in the league at the time. no one was balling like they were. on the flip side, the mavericks were at that time winning very close games against crappy teams like boston. where is the upset?

Yeah I know

But a lot of people didn’t really realize how good the Warriors really were. You only say those things because you’re a fan of the team and know how they were.

Most people were surprised at the fact that Golden State made the playoffs in the first place. It wasn’t till the last game of the season where they finally clinched a playoff berth. They barely made it in and ended up owning the 6th best team in NBA History.

exactly

NOBODY gave us a chance going in to that series. Most of the analysts would say that it was an intriguing matchup but that’s all they gave us.

+1

What’s “mind blowing” about beating a team we owned? Maybe it’s an upset due to the seedings, but certainly not mind blowing.

It's not us, its them

I think the win over the Mavs has lost some of its charm because everyone’s opinion of the Maverics has been going down steadily since that loss. They were great in the regular season that year, but looking back they were over rated and it doesnt seem so improbable that the Dubs would take them out.

I think historically, that Mavs team may have been one of the most underachieving teams ever. There was a lot of talent there that just couldnt pull it together.
