Keep Kurz movement
Let's start a Keep Kurz movement. In the last game, he showed a proficiency for shooting 3-pointers and good defense, Dubs don't need Dickau, Hendrix or Marcus.
Trade Al Harrington for Raymond Felton. Best scenario for both teams. Bobcats get their big man and let DJ be their PG. Dubs get their PG. Salaries almost same. Perfect Match.
Bobby and Mully - Please pull the trigger on Marbury if you don't get Felton. Trade Al for a first rounder. We'll luv you more.

marcus williams has a guaranteed contract. as per the fact that he was traded for.
and the warriors losing al harrington for another point guard to be relegated to the depths of the bench when monta returns is not good for this team. not good

Why do people underate Harrington so much?
He’s our only viable option for PF unless Wright really improves this season. We already have one position in flux, we don’t need two.

it doesn’t matter, kurz has shown proficiency for shooting three-pointers.
so, basically, why keep harrington?

no argument on Kurz – perfect Nelson big, shooter stretches the floor + he’s cheap – but Nelson’s not about to anoint him as Harrington’s replacement this soon … Hendrix should be worried about his spot
as for trading Al for a PG – these are just silly proposals for several reasons – Harrington is more valuable to this team than we’d like to admit because he’s not a stereotypical bruising PF but very rarely do you trade big for little in the NBA & are we ready to turn that over to Kurz, Wright & Randolph? AR had a nice quarter in the PRC, but we’d be pretty thin at PF w/o Al
plus any PG pickup has to fit in the LONG term, not just for 3 months. I agree with those criticizing CJW as insufficient. Williams has yet to show. But picking up a young PG like RayFelt would either mean we have three high paid guys to play two positions (Monta, Jax, Maggs) or you are simply trading away your starting PF for another backup PG (which Williams should be)
Marbury? How does that fit into the LONG term picture? Same problem – shifts too many high paid guys into too few slots (even with a coach like Nelson who likes to play small ball). For the vet min, sure not much of a gamble. But he’ll have better situations to choose from for the vet min than GSW.
Unpopular as it may seem and as frustrating as it will be to watch at times, I’d go with Williams backed up by Watson and watch as Nelson grows into a combo guard & can replace Watson as backup PG until Monta’s able to return. Jax will help with ball handling some, and Kaz coming off the bench behind the SF/SG spot is perfect.
I predicted earlier that we’d snag a vet PG off the waiver wires – and we still can as rosters are pared down – but I doubt it’d be Marbury. Wouldn’t be surprised by suggestions that this might be the season when tanking for a draft might be in order.

Kurz is not a nelson big man
He’s slow and unathletic. Yes he made two threes last game, doesn’t mean he can make it on a consistent basis. He reminds me of that stiff we had last year, the one who came over from Utah. I haven’t been impressed with any of the rookies except Randolph. I would sign d. nelson because he fulfills a need probably hendrix because he is a banger, and morrow and send him down to the d league.

Don Nelson likes him
Adam Lauridsen’s Fast Break Saturday Practice Summary and Q and A’s
Rob Kurz
Q. Don Nelson just called you his best rookie in camp.
A. It’s a great honor coming from him. I’ve worked hard all summer and throughout my career. It’s nice to have a coach like Don Nelson say that.
here is a better example Kurz’s work on glass catching Nelson’s eye
By Curtis Pashelka
Contra Costa Times
“His outside shot is good and he’s been my leading rebounder,” Nelson said. “He’s not pretty, he doesn’t jump high, but he’s been my leading rebounder in this camp. And it’s not even close, including (Andris) Biedrins.
"He rebounds, he shoots, he’s always in the right spot, you tell him something once and it’s done. He’s been a delight. I don’t know that he can make the team, but I don’t know that he can’t.”
Nellie likes Kurz but he won’t say whether Kurz makes the team or not. Kurz was apparently the best rebounder in training camp
Kurz rebounding>Biedrins>Turiaf>Hendrix>Harrington this is all according to Nellie but he likes to smoke…

i know i read that post too
Anthony Morrow shot 75% from the 3 point line during summer league. The fact that he leads the team in rebounding during preseason practice means nothing. I might sign him and send him down to the d league, but he is by far not a starter, maybe a body for the gs bigs to play against. He will almost certainly not make the team because he is not a nellie big man.

whoops forgot to add
Doesn’t mean morrow turn into the next kapono…
By the way… belinelli has looked awful. I don’t know why people are so hyped up on him. I haven’t seen him shoot lights out, and his rebounding and ability to finish at the rim is awful.

Nelson said. "He’s not pretty, he doesn’t jump high, but he’s been my leading rebounder in this camp.
Haha, Sounds like he’s at best the best of a crappy bunch! If he can’t jump he’ not gonna be a big rebounder in the NBA. The warriors practice is a poor place to decide who’s a star!!

+1
Kurz didn’t do crap against OKC on the 11th! I agree keeping D. Nelson III (plays defense and can score), Hendrix (dood is big) and Morrow (for a more consistent 3 pt. threat than Kurz).

Those are the two players i hope the warriors keep its a toss-up for the last spot though

Al makes too much money for his production
Trading Al this year would free up some big money ($8-$9 million) for a major acquisition next year. Also will allow AnthonyR and BWright to get more playing time. Isn’t it more existing to see dunks and take-aways than 3-pointers from Al? RayFelt makes around $3 million. He would be the starting PG – placing less pressure on Monta who would go to SG and ActionJackson who would be SF. The Starting line-up will look like this RayFelt (PG), Monta (SG), ActionJackson (SF), AnthonyR (PF), Biedrins ©. Doesn’t this look like a line-up that all Dubs fans would like to watch? And this is enough for sixth place and the playoffs!
by getBoshIn2010 on Oct 20, 2008 10:46 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
you're right about freeing up money, but doubt the playoff predictions
trading Al for RayFelt = moving Maggs to the bench – most expensive 6th man in history of NBA?!
we also would be tanking the season, and should just leave Monta on the sidelines because we would be taking so many lumps inside with Wright/Rudolph at PF for the majority of minutes that we shouldn’t even try to make playoffs with that group – that strategy would also suggest we NOT extend Jax
RF+Monta will not be realized until January, and not likely to get us in the playoffs much less 6th seed without Al for the first half of the season
Al may be expensive for his production, but keep in mind that his contract allowed us to unload Murphy&Dunleavey + get Jackson which is the cost of making poor decisions in the past, and if you do comps on similar starting PF you’d be likely to find that Al’s contract isn’t as grossly out of line as we feel it is
by hardcore on Oct 20, 2008 7:43 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah
saying that anyone on this team could take Al’s place is ridiculous. Trading him would make us very vulnerable inside, and none of the newbies are big enough to bang, and shoot outside. Putting Turiaf at the 4 would clog the lane, not spread the floor. I know it is all speculation, but for those people who are saying great things about these rookies, check out all the box scores and you will see how inconsistent they are:
http://www.nba.com/warriors/news/2008_training_camp_central.html
Kurz 0 rebounds in 15 minutes, and this guy was supposedly the best rebounder in camp. You will see other off balance statistics among the rookies in Preseason Games. And they haven’t been tested by any really big teams yet either. You need vets like Al to help cover Ming, Boozer and Gasol.
I think Nelson would be a good fit, and help initiate offense. I wouldn’t send him down to Bakersfield, but rotate him and Williams in the roster. Also, even though Williams has been a disappointment so far, he is an investment that they need to try to make work. If he can get comfortable with his role and get into better shape…….
Keep either Kurz or Hendrix and send them to the D league for a few months. Bring them up if they show promise. Watson may not be a star, but he will prove his worth in the season. I think that there is a lot of criticism about him because he wasn’t ever a personality player who was hyped by media. However his stats so far make Williams and Dickau look like dirt.
Not a fan of Marbury, but for the minimum it would be worth it. Bringing him in might screw up team chemistry, (or solidify it), which is going to be very important if we want some W’s this year.
Why don't you all quit bitching and just talk Warriors Basketball.

ok my mistake
i voted +1 on keep kurz. but -100000000 on trading AL. hendrix i can see being released, marcus williams is awful, but we should keep kurz.

ummm.......he wont ever play
we have branden, hendrix, and Ar before this guy. we spent 1st round and 2nd round picks on these guys and suddenly we just succumb to an undrafted forward who can shoot the 3

Dickau
was just released by the Warriors, which garantees D Nelson on the roster…

if
hendrix being a 2nd round pick is the only reason to keep him, remember we just released Stephane Lasme last year before he even played a single minute. However, the guy is a big so if we keep him, why not.
Keep the Curse, release Morrow…for a better tomorrow

What's a movement?
Do we have to sign a petition? Stand outside of the Warriors home office? Write letters to the player we’re starting a movement for?
