CJ Watson
2007-2008 Season Recap
Grade: C+
When the "Quiet Storm," aka "KBLX" was called up from the D-League last year, I had high hopes for the guy. Ok not really, but once he got a contract extension last year, it was a good sign. He had some time to learn behind our starting PG last year, (who was that again? Some Count or something?) CJ didn't really get much time to show his worth, but he was good enough to keep in the background and put in when the other guy was tired. He wasn't amazing or anything, but hey, he did his job for a minimum contract guy.
2008-2009 Prediction
I was really hoping this guy would be our starting PG seeing as though Monta got injured playing basketball (wait, no it was a moped accident? That's new to me.). But hey, I guess you won't hear me battling that "Make Your Free Throws" guy with my "GO CJ! Cause that's my CJ!" chants. Unfortunately, he suffered an elbow injury in the last preseason game, moving him to backup PG. No matter, he's got some more experience and who knows what will happen. 15 minutes and 5 points?

2007-2008 Season Recap
Grade: B-
Drafted 22nd overall by the New Jersey Nets, Marcus didn't look half bad as a rookie on a crappy Nets team. After starting 7 games, he averaged 30 minutes, 11 points, and 6 assists. Not too shabby for a rookie...so why not bring a young talented guy to the bay?
2008-2009 Prediction
Because Nellie isn't about this guy at all. We gave up a conditional first round pick that only made the final cuts because of the money. What does that say about Marcus? This man was given a huge shot after Monta went down and couldn't beat out an undrafted player and a D-Leaguer. Ugh...what a waste of another draft pick...
I highly doubt we'll see Marcus on the court for a long time. Well, unless we're talking POB minutes.
DeMarcus Nelson

2007-2008 Season Recap
Starting PG at Duke. Undrafted. Need I say more?
2008-2009 Prediction
What the? He's our starting PG now? Apparently I do need to say more.
Remember when he first came to training camp? He was simply happy to make the roster. These are my favorite type of players -those that are deemed "rejects" and will always have something prove. I'm sure no one saw this guy coming and actually making an impact, but after proving himself in the summer league and in the preseason, DeMarcus has shown that he deserves the starting position while Monta is out.
He's got some fire in em too - reminds me of Matt Barnes in the '07 season. Against all odds? Underdog mentality? This is what I love about the Warriors!
I can see it now, a few months from now, we'll all be saying, where did this guy come from?

Last year wasn't terrible for Marcus...
…if it was actually his rookie year.
The worrisome thing is last year was his second in the league, and he actually performed a little worse in 07/08 than he did in 06/07. That may have been due to the fact that Williams didn’t play last year until mid-December, but it’s tough to think of NBA players who end up amounting to anything after regressing in their second year after a mediocre rookie effort.
You have to wonder if acquiring Williams was the last move Robert Rowell will allow Chris Mullin to make, or if the move was Rowell’s idea since he seems to have taken over recently, starting with the infamous Baron Davis 3-year, $39 million extension veto. At least the draft pick the Warriors gave up was conditional, and probably won’t be surrendered to the Nets for years.

In Marcus' defense
I’ve been following the NJ Nets since the Kenny Anderson days and would just like to reply on Marcus not playing last year – he started the season on the injury list and he was asked to respond right away after Kidd was traded. For a few games he had performed above expectations but he never had a free reign to run the offense there (always looking behind his shoulder) because LFrank yanked him out right away for turnovers.
I was in the scrimmage game last Sunday and I thought Marcus played good (scored 24 points while running the White Team well) – and I noticed that Don Nelson STILL is disinterested on playing this guy. He surely is in his dog house and I am just wondering what he has done to be in that situation.
I don't think the Nelson experiment will work out.
Call me pessimistic but…He was a SG in college.
Looking at his peripherals, it doesn’t really show the court vision, instincts, or floor leadership. Although this is just from the stats. I haven’t seen him play so i guess i can’t come to a conclusion yet. But all i’m saying is that PG’s aren’t made, they’re born with that kind of ability. It is easily the hardest position to fill on the floor.
I think it’ll be interesting to see if Nellie stays with the 3 headed PG monster or if Monta can handle it.
Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.
Demarcus Nelson never really showed that he was a point guard at Dook, but he wasn’t expected to be. I suspect that he can become a good defender at the position who can also guard 2’s on a switch, but there better be a better plan for initiating the offense than to entrust it to him. The FG% in the preseason was unreal. I don’t expect it to be so high in the regular season. If it is, a whole bunch of people in Durham will wonder why they never saw that when he played in college.
I think that'll be true
I’m sure his only duty will be to guard the opposing PG, bring the ball to half court and get it to Jack, Maggette or Al to run the offense. I hope he’s a good spot up shooter if that’s the case.
Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.
We need
to get that stick figure playing, he’d have super court vision, he would automatically be in triple threat when he catches the ball, and with that length he would be a steal machine
What happened
to Belinelli…or Jax. I would choose Bellinelli over Williams at PG any day. He was sick vs. the Thunder with crazy passes, not shooting. Guaranteed that he will see some solif minutes at the 1 if not the 2. I also think its crazy to see how many people voted Williams over CJ. That must be about the injury, because the guy is the best PG we have at the moment.
Why don't you all quit bitching and just talk Warriors Basketball.
he will see some solif minutes
Is that an Italian term?

What's wrong with Stack?
Until CJ gets healthy we are bout to see a lot of Stack Jack bringing the ball up. We should get used to it because we are way more potent with Monta leaking out instead of waiting to bring the ball up court. Having Monta as our future PG will limit his fastbreak opportunities. I like DeMarcus over Williams and apparently so does Nellie, if Nellie don’t trust Marcus than neither do I.

I agree..
Nelson isn’t a PG, probably never will be. The way he plays is more comparable to a SG than a PG. Captain Jack leads the team better and is more of both a vocal leader and a player that leads by example. Their passing ability is comparable, but I think Jack has the slight edge. Watson and Williams aren’t are best options as of now. I hope Marcus develops soon, I like his size and potential. Belinelli showed huge flashes of PG potential during the summer league and I could see him playing the 1 in the future. For now though, I’d stick with Cap Jack and move Kelenna to the starting 2 spot, at least until Monta returns.
- iBall, do you?
I can't wait
Until Nelson puts the lockdown on CP3 on opening night…one thing he was known for at Duke was his always sticky D.
Please..
CP3 will school Nelson. End of discussion right there.

With two seasons more experience you are probably right. I really miss Boom :>)
