Al Harrington Asks to be Traded
While Tim Kawakami broke the news earlier, "Harrington no longer wants to play for Don Nelson", Marcus Thompson interviewed Al around midnight last night where Al basically says that he wants to be traded:
========================================================
So what is it about playing for Don Nelson that has you fed up?
"I went through it all last year. It all started in the playoffs the year before. It wore on me, you know what I’m saying. I didn’t want to play for him. I told him that this summer. I told Mully that. I reiterated that again to Mully. I’ve told him twice since training camp has started that I don’t want to be here. I don’t think me and coach is going to work out, regardless of who’s playing, who’s not playing or whatever, because I feel like he uses me in certain ways and I don’t think that’s going to change. We all know how Nellie is. We all know his history. If you’re not one of his dudes, you ain’t never going to be one of his dudes. And that’s the truth."
"Have I asked them to trade me? Yes I have. Plenty of times. All summer. Once a month. It never happened. I’m still here. Do I know what my future is? I don’t know. First game is tomorrow. We’re going to see what happens. But at the end of the day, if it’s like last year, then I can’t be here. And that’s for damn sure."

i can haz point guard?
This shouldn’t be news to anyone. The truly upsetting thing is that, for sure, the warriors have been trying to trade him since last season and have not found anything to their liking. With Al going public, that makes it even more unlikely that the warriors get fair value. At this point, I’d be glad as long as someone picked up his tab and sent us a draft pick. Sucks for the gsw, but then again that’s nothing new either this year.
"They can trade me," Bonds said. "I don't think they will, though. It's not like I want to be traded, man. I'm a Giant. I'm stuck here till the end."

I'm gonna miss....
…not much I guess. Al’s very inconsistant and I wouldn’t mind if he was traded. Especially with B-Wright and Randolph in the back burner. What are some possible trades?

Well said Al, well said. Good luck wherever you go, hope you aren’t reduced to a spot up three shooter there too.

sigh...
AL didn’t want to just be a 3-point shooter?!?!? Um, that’s all he was good at. 6’9" and can’t pull more than 6/7 boards a game? Not much defense. Not a great slasher.
He may get more PT on another, suckier, team, but he’ll never get more offensive opportunities. It’s a testament to the overall improvement of the team that he’s not one of the best 3 players on the team. Time was W’s would by trying to push AH as the centerpiece of the team.
I think losing him for next to nothing probably won’t hurt the team.
Trade proposal: Harrington, Watson, 1st Rounder to Chicago for Hinrich.
