Starting line up for the future.
Who do you want to see bring the Warriors into the playoffs. I personally would love it if this ended up being the starting line-up:
Monta
Jackson
Randolph
Wright
Biedrins
and coming off the bench (in order of importance)
Maggette
Williams
PF to be named
Turiaf
I'm just excited at the potential of the starting line-up. Randolph has a great future ahead of him and can be the ball handler needed to supplement Monta's skills while Wright & Beans turn into a rebounding tandem that should be able to defend the rim while spacing out the floor with Beans' pick & cut abilities and Wright's "Antawn Jamison" like offensive game.
As for Maggette, he's just the odd man out (he may be in the starting five should Jackson not resign w/ the W's). He can score and would be a great 6th man. This is conceivably a team that could do great things....

Maggette
shouldn’t be coming off the bench behind Randolph and Wright any time soon – yes I know Wright is a 4 and Maggette’s not, but if coach X really wants AR in the lineup, it’ll be at Wright’s expense not Maggs
seriously do not understand the lack of appreciation for Maggette’s game unless the majority of folks on this site haven’t watched him play – he’s one who actually will live up to his contract imo … blasphemy perhaps, but I’d say Maggette is even more important and valuable than Jax once Monta returns

another thing...
I said in the future… I don’t believe that it will be anytime soon. Hopefully I’ll be wrong and Maggette does live up to his contract. I am going to be watching him in a Warriors uniform for the next five years and will cheer him for any play he makes.

if its the future
then take jackson out

I did state that if Jackson didn't resign...
that Maggette would be starting at the 2. I just think that Jax would be a better fit than Maggette.

Or The Terminators future?

Obviously, my opinion of Maggette is jaded
because I haven’t really seen much of him. I’ve only known him as a slashing type of scorer who is able to get to the free throw line as much as Monta will be able to in a year or two. An average defender who tends to slack on the defensive end from time to time, but does rebound fairly well and can run the floor.
Unfortuantely, I haven’t seen how he can gets teammates involved to improve offense or how he improves our team on the defensive end. Maybe that will be seen this season, but as far as I know, that basically means he’s a taller Monta Ellis type of player with better free throw shooting and a (so far) better three point shot.
Jackson does have the ability to initiate the offense (although he does veer from sets from time to time with a pull-up three), and that in my book already puts him ahead of Maggette when Monta comes back because you will need someone to navigate the spacing and create for others.
As for Randolph, from what I’ve been hearing he does have the potential to be a good forward who can handle and pass; to the effect of a Kevin Garnett or a maybe a Pippen. I understand that Randolph is at least 2-3 years away from getting consistent rotational minutes or even being a starter, but that’s enough for me to envision him replacing Maggette in the starting line-up down the road.
As for Wright, he is a energy player with a baby Antawn Jamison type game. I think that if he can refine the way he scores while rebounding at a high clip and becoming a decent weakside defender, he will be more valuable as a PF than Maggette as a SF. That’s my opinion…

ummmmm...
I’d rather have Marcus at PG and put Monta at SG

yeah, but...
marcus williams can’t even beat out cj watson… and now they brought in dan dickau? plus he rode pine in NJ and they picked up keyon dooling over him.
writing’s on the wall, guy can’t play.
besides, for defensive purposes, it’d be best for the w’s if monta works out at point.

He's barely played
That was just a bad situation in NJ. Dan Dickau better not make the team, and CJ is not going to be starting for long, Marcus will take over.

i agree, except w/ "take over" - more like handed the job b/c everyone else sucks and
Marcus Williams is at least an NBA back up. Dickau, Nelson & CJ are at best 12-15th men.
according to Steinmetz, Marcus Williams couldn’t even stop Marco Belinelli
No news bulletin here, but Marcus Williams’ troubles are going to come at the defensive end. He struggled guarding Marco Belinelli.
and Janny Hu basically calls him a slowpoke
Williams can definitely pass. He can shoot at times. He’s just not very quick. So he struggles to get by his guy — and lets his guy get by him.

i don’t remember ever seeing him play, but these aren’t good signs. add in the Jax at PG experiment and it’s clear the W’s think tank don’t think they currently have an NBA quality starter at that position. i expect Marcus to eventually beat out CJ, who probably shouldn’t even make the team if not for Monta’s injury, but it’ll be by default – not b/c he should be starting in the NBA. he’ll probably end up having Bimbo Coles/Mookie Blaylock type #’s of 11 ppg, 4-6 asst and 3-4 reb.
like i said before, it’s actually in the Ws best interest defensively that Monta and Marcus not be on the floor together. don’t believe your girlfriend on this one, size does matter.

btw, just in case
that last line is a joke in general, not directed at anyone.

Wright will be a 6th man, he won't start or get more than 15-20 mpg ever
I like wright but he doesn’t have what it takes to start in my opinion, I know it was just summer league but wright might not even get an invitation to camp after the way he looked there if he wasn’t already signed, Randolph and Morrow have the heart to start, even though A Randolph will need to restrain his emotions some… B Wright hasn’t shown me that, that’s my .02 cents

??
You’d take Morrow over Wright? Keep your two tenths of a cent to yourself next time.

there’s been all sorts of “morrow will be the greatest shooter of all time” talk on these boards. i don’t fully understand why a great summer league showing adds up to that, but that’s just my .02 cents.
anyway, on wright, i agree with him. i think he’ll be a good 1st post guy off the bench. i’m not sure i see the skill set of a starter either. he runs and can rebound and can score a little. he should be a decent player, but barring a leap forward, he seems like a role player. one who could do a lot of good off the bench for a contender, but probably wouldn’t start.
that said, i like the talk about him working on a jumper. that could push him over the top. then all of the sudden, the team looks like a bunch of slashers who can drill the midrange shot with biedrins cleaning up the boards. no true point guard still, but enough guys have decent handles to make it work. just crisp passing and cutting to the rim. so, please brandon, start hitting those jumpers.

I am not saying I wouldn't take wright, I am saying he is not showing development we hoped for
I am also saying I will be surprised if he is ever more than a 6th man off the bench, obviously morrow needed to bust his butt in summer league, but B wright didn’t hardly look like he cared, I do want heart on our team, someone with dedication like a JR, and I agree with lowchi that TMNT could have a great season with Turiaf backing Beans up now and Al getting to play 3 or 4 position more, so ss408 I said based on summer league Wright would be lucky to get an invitation if he didn’t already have a contract because a lot of other players were busting it to get a shot and he was not, and I do not think he is in a position to not play hard. A lot of other guys looked amazing that were already under contract, Thaddeus Young, Hilton Armstrong to name a few. but if you gotta slam someone, whatever makes you feel good about yourself…

tmnt?
where’s tall and (newly) skinny AL at? i think a lot of us are forgetting about him, but i really think he’s poised to have a big year. He won’t have to bump around playing the forward and center position so he will hopefully have a consistent role the entire year. I heard he put a lot of work into this off-season and I would really love to see him improve and contribute big numbers.

depth continued
Ofcourse only time will tell but, I don’t think bwright has the fight in him to really be a legit starter. From what I have heard and read randolph is confident and has a swagger. It’s gonna be interesting to see how good really becomes and maybe deserve a starting spot if not this year maybe next, that will have a huge effect on whether or not we resign al and jack. Al is poised to have a good year getting minutes at the 4 and the 3 sometimes. I see bwright just not contributing enough to be in the rotation which leads to most of the 4 minutes going to Al, randolph and sometimes turiaf. And is belinelli out of the picture now?? A lot of players on the dubs can play multiple positions which is great cause nellie can mix and match with the best of them. There even thinking about jack at point…..?? haha would that be a potential pre-monta starting five of
Jack
maggs
randolph???
al
beans
that would be kind of fun to watch

yay
PG: Baron Davis
SG: Monta Ellis
SF: Stephen Jackson
PF: Al Harrington (?)
C: Kevin Garnett
Bench: Azubuike, Wright, Barnes, Pietrus, Belinelli, O’Bryant + whoever we get in future trades/drafts/FA etc.
Earth, Wind and Fire each individually averaged 20ppg in 2007-2008. Adding Garnett to that would be crazy. I would have traded Harrington + Fillers for Ron Ron too, to start at the PF position.

so we only got kg
in a straight up trade for biedrins? man, no wonder mchale is the worst gm ever. if that was on the table, i can’t believe he’d turn it down.

Perfect World
A couple years down the road
PG Marcus Williams – lives up to his potential
SG Monta Ellis – becomes a perennial All-Star
SF Anthony Randolph – is a walking mismatch with amazing versatility
PF Brandon Wright – proves he’s worth losing J-Rich
C Andris Biedrins – developes into a very solid center even with some All-Star hype now and then
The tremendous length on the floor will make up for the skinniness plus there’s bulk on the bench
Best backups in the league
PG C.J. Watson – proves to be a consistent all around player
SG Morrow and or Belinelli – Lights out shooting and capable defense
SG/SF Azubuikie – good enough to be the sixth man on nearly every team in the NBA
SF Maggette and maybe Jackson – would be the best bench players in the NBA
PF Kurz and Hendrix – will own the boards
C Ronnie Turiaf – has everything you want in a backup center
Honestly there’s no way this team stays together like this because there is so much trade bait and sorry Al you won’t be back in a few years
The Warriors and A’s will win Championships in the next 5 years built on good young foundations, fingers crossed.

and his weight’s supposedly down. well we’ll know by opening day. hopefully, he’ll be a good player – but just like all these excited Orlando Magic fans over their Pietrus acquisition, i think we’re in for a rude awakening. though i guess you can’t blame them if they’re only looking at Mickael’s youtube highlights..
