Is Nba Live 09 retarded???
No not Live for ps3,ps2,wii,or 360. Im talkin about Live on psp. I played it today, and i was very shocked about how they rated the warriors. Not only are we rated 91, but we're better than both the Lakers and the Celtics. But i could care less about that. The thing i care about is that half the bench is better than Monta. Monta is rated 73, while Marco is rated 80. The same goes for Stephen J and Beans who are rated 74. While Azubuike is rated 77. I think Monta should be rated in the high 80s or low 90s. And jack n Beans should be at least in the middle 80s. Marco should be in the low 70s, while Azubuike should be about Monta's acutal rating in the game. What do you guys think?

now i dont know if i should get live and im gonna get it for $20 cause i got a friend who works for EA. Should i just pay the 60 and get 2k? cause ive always been a 2k fan since the dreamcast days. first ea sports game i got i didn’t even buy it i won it from an arcade game for $0.50 madden 07. and playing it i could so tell how much 2k is better. only thing i dont want is NBA09 how could that be on PS3 and look like something from a n64?!
So I don't have a signature well these words would do! Who knew that upgrades can have downgrades too!

The only reason I got live in the past...
Was because of the Dunk contest… but if you have the dunk contest on one, you don’t need them on the rest. 2k is where its at!

it's retarded period.
I was excited to download the 2k9 demo last night only to find out you have to be a gold member to get it right now so I decided to try out the Live 09 instead.
Played it for like 2 minutes and just couldn’t play it any longer and decided to pop in my 2k8.
I seriously don’t get the people that insists Live is better than 2k8. I played Live the longest time, but like Cable internet to Modem, just can’t get back to it after experiencing the other one.

Live or 2K
Last live i played was 07 for ps2, last 2k was 2k8 on 360.
Live had players of the month, 2k does not
2k has multiple dribble+post moves live does not
Live has seasonal dunk contest + 3-point contest 2k does not
when you press pause on live it automatically showed the player stats, 2k had to go through the menu
Live offered points for doing certain things in-game that can be used for shoes and training, 2k automatically gave 7 points to develop players.
2k has a training camp period where you can use points from during the season to permanently increase a players stats (big man defense, combo guard), live you signed a coach with a certain money limit and you can choose if you want them to work on (shooting, defense, athleticism, and rebound.)
2k has 3-way trading, not sure if live has it.
Live had pre-animated block, 2k you have to time it right.
2k has an easier play-calling system than live.
live had off the ball moves where you can spin away or juke the defender, 2k either does not have off ball moves or i don’t know how to do it.
Both has putback dunks Live is by pressing Square? 2k is by pressing Left and right trigger and Y.
Live also had give an go passing, 2k9 should have a give and go passing system this year.
2k has a bunch camera angles (tv-cycle, cheap seats), live has a few camera angles.
In live when you traded someone you had to wait a few days for a response, 2k immediately sends the player to your team.
Live had more customization different headbands, socks, shoes. 2k has a few.
Live had multiple body types and players body would change every season (martell webster grew an inch, gerald green gained muscle mass) 2k has 3 body types and players generally don’t change physically although they lose attribute points (ben wallace can’t dunk anymore….)
both games can be improved
Live needs to be more realistic, more dribble moves, post moves, basically improve general gameplay.
2k can improve the different body types, more than one headband…more player customization, it would also be nice to have a 3-point contest and slam dunk contest during the season. when i played live 07 before Jason was traded i would also win the slam dunk and 3-point contest with him. The development mini-games should have its own section in the game. it can be used as a party game to play against friends for example Post offense vs Post defense whoever has more points win? The development mini-games are already in the game might as well allow people to play just that when they are bored (also post offense is great at practicing your timing and different moves.
2k is better but there are some things i liked about live that 2k does not have.
If I am wrong i will respond with a D'Oh

I stopped playing Live back in 06
I loved NBA LIVE back then and was excited about 06. That was when they had new features where certain superstars can do special moves. Like the best dunkers in the NBA would be able to do special dunks in the game, playmakers would be able to do crazy passes etc.
When I popped it in my Ps2 I was shocked. It wasn’t the same as the previous LIVE games, the players looked hella weird and the game got too ‘arcade’ like. Since then I switched to 2K. It sucks though, cause 2k5 was only 20 bucks back then but now they raised the price knowing that their product is the best.

same here
last Live I played was 06. I didn’t have an xbox or ps2 but a gamecube. So there wasn’t really a choice there. I remembering pre-ordering Live 06. Gamestop called me and when I got there, turns out the GC games weren’t there yet. I was probably the only guy who’d play Live on Gamecube. lol.
But then, when I finally got a 360 and got a tasted of 2K. I picked up the latest one and never looked back.

Guilty Pleasure...
Of all games, I will ay that I’m a big fan of Midway’s NBA Ballers series… esp. the 1st one on Xbox. 1 on1 basketball… the rise to power type deal with baller status… I know folks will rip on this game but on a personal basis, I just have fun w/ it. The last one that came out was fun… open enviornments… its the NBA- GTA style!

I played the first one on PS2
I was like in 7th grade when it came out, I borrowed it from a friend. I ended up breaking his game and I still owe him money for it even though it’s like 6 years later. He keeps asking for the money I owe him for it, when he can just buy the game for 5 bucks nowadays.

BTW
I think NBA 2k9 comes out tomorrow, can’t wait!
The thing that sucks is that the game is too tactical. Of course, it’s a good thing, but when you use a team like the Warriors the overall effect of “Nellie ball” doesn’t work in the game. You can’t throw long crazy outlet passes in the game (when you do, it goes out of bounds), and you can’t really play completely out of control like organized chaos.
The game if more of a “grind it out” type of game, when you’re playing against a good player online. I still love it though, hopefully the addition of Turiaf will help the Warriors get more boards in 2k9.

Agreed...
From NBA 2k3 to 2k6, the game was so tactical my friends knew how to beat me or at least keep the game tight… there was a time I’d lose by 20-30 points from the homies and not because I was drunk but because I didn’t use any tactics lol… nowadays its different, I adapted my play style to match the homies and I did ok on-line.
Live on the other hand was a dunk fest lol, I remember when the homies from the east side of san jose would have parties I’d pick up the controller trying 2 play D on live and when I had the ball they’d be like “Hurry up and dunk homie! I wanna do a wind mill slam next!” and the whole room would explode with “OHHHHHHH!”

yeah I remember Live being like that.
Basically you just have to keep using the right stick.
LOL, I remember all you had to do was toggle the right stick upwards to do a spin move. I would just keep spinning and spinning downcourt until I get to the paint. Once I got to the paint I would press ‘square’ to dunk. I would just do that all game, along with shooting a bunch of threes. It was hella easy to score over 150+ points in only 5 minute quarters, haha.

that sucks tho, that you gotta wait to get the money first. I usually don’t have that much money on me either, but luckily I have enough at the moment to get the game right away.
Just spend 8 dollars on the 1 month for Xbox Live. That way you’ll have a full month to save up for a 12 month (or however long of a subscription card you need).

It's all about preference...
I’ve been a LIVE dude for a while and although the 2K always has better graphics, the gameplay of Live is much smoother and overall much better. Live 09!!! “It’s in the game.”

Live 09...
is dope! I could play for days! They made the free throw shooting more simple, no more analag stick FT shooting. It’s also faster (no more animation in between FT shots). You can do so many more moves with the ball. Throwing passes across court isn’t at easy so it’s more realistic in that way. The graphics are ok. Monta must have a gotten a tan and plastic surgery for this game, it looks nothing like him (that’s my only dislike for this game). The overall gameplay is amazing! “It’s a great time out.”

i played 2k8 last year with warriors because al at center and stephen was an awesome matchup. baron made a ton of 3’s even with his 3 point rating at 75. problem was i would score a ton of points but my palyers would miss layups but make fadeaway 3’s. i also would play KG at point and it was a matchup problem. the matchups in 2k8were really good

old fart here....
Believe it or not, THE BEST NBA Live version was on the Sega Genesis (16 bit) system and was NBA Live ’95 (haha I know, I know)
The Warriors were 3-pt shooting guru’s in that game – and it was the funnest game play of any NBA game ever.
Seriously though, the graphics were not anything like todays versions, but the gameplay was sweet!
