Who we need to sign now!

Looking at this team and its progression you can't help but notice one person’s fingerprints are everywhere. Chris Mullin! You think about how bad we were for so long before he came into the front office and turned everything around, and even when Higgins bolted for Charlotte we still had a phenomenal 48 win season. It's truly remarkable what he has done in such a short period of time. He got Baron for two useless players. Drafted young stars like Biendrins and Ellis, and has a team full of young talent. Randolph, Wright, Belinelli, and others are all parts that he has put together. Not to mention the totally lopsided deal he worked to get Jackson and Harrington. I think that Mullin is one of the most important pieces in the organization and need to be signed before we lose him. What are everyones thoughts?

Mullie

Bring him back on the court to shoot threes for us!

by Pearlsofwisdom on Nov 12, 2008 9:33 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

Definitely bring him back...

He should be judged with “what have you done for me lately?”. In the last three years, he definitely has done something positive for the Dubs, starting with acquiring BD and convincing the Nellie to come out of retirement. Next he drafted and traded players to form the “run and gun” Dubs. And now, we have these young guns who look very promising so far. With Nellie around for the next three years, there is no reason why they should fail. Mullie played a major role in putting together the previous three years and the current roster. Also, it seems like the players like him, therefore that is a plus management should NOT overlook. So, what is the problem bringing Mullin back? Management should stick with running the front office and leave basketball operations to Mullie. There is definitely NO reason why he should not be back. He corrected the mistakes in the past and should be judged with the present. He brought excitement and hope back to us DUBS fans. We have something to look forward to for at least the next four to five years and it’s all because of the moves the Mullin made. GIVE HIM A RAISE!

Warriors need to bring back Mullin?

We should leave it up to Jason Richardson. Thumbs up or thumbs down?

As much as most Warrior fans want Mullin back, he probably won’t.

Most likely end up in the front office for the Knicks, or the Brooklyn?\ New Jersey Nets.

Too much drama in the Warriors front office. The people who have continued to ruin this organization will stay, and those who have contributed to the organization for the best will all be gone. Those janks will continue to rip Warrior fans off financially and team product-wise, because they know we are loyal fans that continue to go to games no matter what.

I think its pretty sad because Warrior fans deserve the best product. Any loyal fan deserves that.

With the terrible front office continuing to take control, it could cause alot of the good talent of the future (Monta, AB, AR, BW, etc..) to leave us and go somewhere else where they will be respected.

It has slowly gone in that direction so far. Jrich…then Baron….who’s next?

Players like them and with that kind of talent deserve Respect, especially with all the heart, dedication put into the game, and appreciation to the fans.

I know we have a good product now and is just missing a consistent PG, but we lost a leader that is hard to replace with that kind of skillset and swagger. We shouldn’t have to go through a rebuilding process unless we are forced to.

Im going to hope for the best and hope the core we have now stays. Maybe we can make a wish to the Baskeball Gods for the punk front office to go away.

Maybe we can boycott the front office or something.

I dunno. I’m sure this has been on some fans’ minds or has been talked about on this site 37 times. Just wanted to vent.

Go Warriors still.

Let Mully go?

Maybe, it depends on what you think about his ability to evaluate talent. If you think he’s been doing a great job then keep him. If he’s be average or less then let him go. I know Mully’s made so some great gambles (Biedrins as a 17 yr old lottery pick, Monta in the 2nd round, Azubuike of the D-League, trading for Davis, trading for Jackson and Harrington). As well as some questionable moves (Draft O’Bryant, signing J-Rich, Foyle, Fisher, Dunveleavy, and Murphy to long term contracts, trading J-Rich to save money, etc).

For as much as I like Mully for the old Chris Mullin hair cut nights and the fact the Mully was a Warrior lifer, I do not think should just give him a new contract. I think Riley or even Nelson himself would do just as good of a job in evaluating talent as Mullin currently does.

A Sonics fan without a team.. Though I'm auditioning GS Warriors this season.

you bring up good points for both sides of the coin.

i would resign him because of his ability to judge talent. i dont think he should be involved with the $$$ side of things though. eventually he will learn $$$ side.

be the change you wish to see in the world.

Rebuild

Cant win a Championship with Baron, and no one wants to play out here you have to build young.

We get one of these threads a week. If you are looking for short term success becomes a Lakers fan, or Celtics, they buy Championships.

Unforunately I dont care about Hockey, and Oaktownboy just sounds desperate.

who said anything?

About short term success moron. Don’t insult me and tell me to go become a fan of another team because I bet you can’t name half the players on our team you clown. I’m just saying that he does a great job with finding hidden talent, and has made more good then bad during his time here.

Hi

You said he was one of the most important pieces, and I was disagreeing, in fact I dont think Mullin is a great GM. This is why the owner has such a short leash on him. He’s given out alot of crap contracts and up untill this year, he had done 0 in free agency.

In fact every year we seem to be talking about a major trade in Golden State. How is that supposed to reflect good on a GM? Also he ruined the Al Harrington situation. Who is he Donnie Walsh? Gonna pay a guy to not play? ERRRRR…. he has a back injury!

Ill say it again, dont confuse Mullin the player with Mullin the GM. 2 different people. If I was an owner, and my GM did what Mullin had been doing, I’d fire his ass.

Also, you must only read here once or twice a year because if you’d ever read anything I have ever posted you’d know I know my basketball, especially Warriors. But of course with a name like “Future Giants GM” you must be a Basketball god yourself.

Clearly.

Naw

Brotha I’m always on here, but I never ever post. I post on Mccovey Chronicles more thats why I have that Screen Name. And Sjboy is clearly a name that shows your basketball knowledge. I’m not trying to fight with you at all, I’m just saying your post had nothing to do with the question. You said,“We get one of these threads a week. If you are looking for short term success becomes a Lakers fan, or Celtics, they buy Championships.” Thats a shot to me not an answer to my post. So I’m just saying don’t question the fanhood.

It's been made pretty clear over the last few weeks that Mullin has little command over the current situation

His right hand man getting fired, Rowel’s name popping up in newspapers more often that his… I doubt Mullin had significant input on the Al Harrington thing. And players get phantom injuries all the time (See: Paul Pierce in 07, entire Bucks team in 07…). Not playing a guy you’re paying millions of dollars is a fact of NBA life. Every owner understands that. Mullin has made far stupider decisions and not been fired.

ESPN-Rick Buker

Watched a report on NBA Nation or whatever they call it on ESPN when they just show bits of games around the NBA while guys talk about varous teams, trades, yada yada yada. I forget the reporters name for ESPN, but I think its Rick Buker who used to be a local reporter, but he said there are some major contradictions going on between Mullie and Nellie and the rest of the organization. Had to do with direction and power…I hope the Dubs don’t dissolve into pure crap like they did for 14 years previous to 2007.
