Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

What needs to be done with Al...

It's apparent Al is not going to play for us anymore, whether he is traded or not. To be honest, we have played are best basketball of the season without him. We whooped the Clips, edged out the Blazers(I love puns), and almost beat the Pistons. Those have been 3 of the more impressive games this season. Al's absence has allowed Corey to be a stellar PF, even going up against Camby, Aldridge, and Rasheed. So where does Al fit in?

Nowhere, which is perfect. Many of you want to trade Al for an impact big man or point guard. CJ has been playing phenominal, and missing Al has lead to the growth of BWright and Morrow, also the above mentioned emergece of Corey as Don Nelson's favorite PF ont the team. If I'm the Warriors front office, I'm either looking to trade Al for a veteran off the bench who can occassionally start down low, or a bunch of scrap we can let go, send to the d league, or have ride the pine. (1 year contracts only!)

As of now, nothings needs to be done and nothing can be done. The 3 games I mentioned were the best games becasue it showed the team is actually becoming a cohesive unit that is learning not only to play welll together, but also play well under Nellie ball. Bringing in someone could screw everything up, especially if we get a big named vet who Nellie will inevitably force into the lineup screwing up the chemistry.

We should tell Al that we're not doing anything until Monta comes back so we can see how the team looks, and if we need something, we'll trade you, otherwise you have the option to leave after this year, and you can do so. Until then you can sit out with a sore back, or try to help your teammates that you like so much make the playoffs.

UPDATE: We get Crawford from the Knicks. Kinda wish we would've waited. There have been some disappointing starts to the season, we could've got something else for him.

As a side

The only big name vet I would remotely consider trading for that would only take Al and perhaps Marco because of the money, is Antawn. That’s right, the Wiz suck, so bring him back. But that would slow up the usage of Morrow and BWright and Nellie would force him into the system too fast. But I still like my idea better. Al would hate that though

Nah dude, I said I don't want a tarde

Especially one that isn’t a 1 year contract. Antawn has four left. I just said if there was a big name player that has a comparable salary that we could get, it would be Jamison. But we can’t get him and he has 4 years, so I’m sticking with my original point. Keep Al, at least until Monta’s back.

If we are good and don’t need to add anything, let him wait the year out. If we are clearly missing something. Trade him.

I like the Miami idea, I've been thinking about that for a while

Wade makes just under 15 mil a year and Marion makes 17. I think if they were going to trade anyone, it would be Marion, however, Monta for DWade seems fair. The problem is that their combined salaries are 32 mil. That would mean we would need to trade Harrington, Maggette, and Monta. Is it worth it?

I think if we made a trade like this Nelson would have our lineup be
PG-Wade PG-Monta
SG-Morrow SG-Morrow
SF-Jackson VS. SF-Jackson
PF-Marion PF Maggette
C-Biedrins C-Biedrins

Also Marion has one year left and Wade has 2. So that means we would be competing with everyone to keep Wade. I’m not sure I would give up Monta for this, unless he has to go.

The spacing got messed up. I was just comparing line ups

Monta for DWade seems fair.

Ask the folks in Miami. My guess is they’d burn down the stadium if that trade was made.

Keep him

There is no reason to trade him unless we get better value back. Send him home Marbury him but with one year left just let him expire and walk at the end of the season to open up cap space to resign other players or sign a wily vet to come play D or an energy player

Charlie V, anyone? He’d flourish under Nellie Ball, but again, it would slow the growth of BWright and Randolph. But he would be a great addition to our team, he’s in the last year of his contract for about 3.5 mil! Sounds about right. And if he does do good, we can just renew his contract after the season.

Right now i'm thinking Brandan won't ever be a player in Nelson's system.

Now don’t take that to mean that he won’t/can’t be a PLAYER in this league. It’s just that he’s not a Nellie type player and probably won’t get the kind of minutes that LMA, Bosh, Howard got in their first years in the league. I think he’s already better than Tyrus Thomas, and could eventually be better than Horford. But since he can’t shoot 3’s he’s an unfortunate casualty in the Nelson’s system.

Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.

A thought and question......

I personally think that he shouldn’t play again out of principle (but thats another conversation). But I do agree that the team is really starting to gel now and I like what I see.

So here’s my thought and question:
Let’s say Monta comes back and is not quite what he used to be, both physically and more importantly mentally due to his dumb ass agent pumping his client up that he has been harshly treated by this Franchise, who lets not forget had just been VERY good to Monta and he screwed up therefore must pay the price and learn.

If will still have Harrington at this time, plus Monta wating to be traded and throw in Marcus Williams and Marco who probably are not going to get the time they want, we could have 4 four players;
Monta, Harrington, Bellinelli an Williams for a trade to somewhere for who?

Now dont get me wrong, I DO NOT WANT TO SEE MONTA GO! But unfortunately I think the kid is showing signs of an ego problem when he should be stuffing his face with humble pie right now! Therefore the ego may force him to want a trade.

Does anyone think this is possible/viable and if so, who would we bring in that could add real experience and extra capability, thats available?

Maybe a deal with Miami? I could easily see Wade looking for a new challenge!

Utah?

Would they consider taking Williams, Harrington and Marco for Boozer?

The trade machine says the deal is possible? Any more knowledgeable minds know of any reason why this could not happen other than Utah saying….. “On yer bike!”.

Hummm...

Let’s take our best offensive weapon and trade him for a doughboy, a malcontent, and a homeless man’s Ginobli… Yeah, Utah makes that move. Definitely. You got pictures of Sloan and the Quran? A marriage certificate showing that Sloan only has one wife?

There’s no way Utah doesn’t get better offers than that if they were even thinking of moving Boozer.

Yep I figurd as much, just was playing around with the TM to see what might work economically...

Whether they do a deal of course is a different matter!!

See my trade below

It works economically too!!! Playing around with the Trade Machine is worthless… unless you’re actively trying to come up with the most lopsided trade ever that could be legally done under the CBA.

Ship Him...

If he doesnt want to be here then ship him. I understand that he has an expiring contract but to just let him sit and whine and bring in negativity to a young team with a lot of upside makes no sense at all. Everyone seems to be looking at1 for 1 trades and 2 for ones. IMO I think to get Al out of here its going to have to be multiple teams and those are complex trades. But if managment stays patient (key word) I think they could find a couple of teams to get us back something useful also while finding him a decent team to go to.

trademachine is fun when your bored….
4 team trade Utah, Portland, N.J. & GS
Utah- gets AL, Marco and Trenton Hassell from NJ
Portland-gets Sean Williams & Marcus Williams
N.J-gets AK
GS-gets Yi, S. Rodriguez and Channing Frye

only thing is it says NJ is 3mil over…thats Najera’s salary but it wont let you trade him untill dec 15. add him to GS and the trade works.

So what your stronger..faster...and can jump higher...I can FLOP better.

by BALLtilliFALL on Nov 20, 2008 4:34 AM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Again...

Utah gives away AK47 (overpaid, true, but still somewhat useful) for crap. Portland gives away Rodriguez and Frye for… Sean Williams? No. NJ gets a guy who’s overpaid and will be on the books till after the LBJ sweepstakes. Finally, GSW gives away crap and gets lots of quality young, somewhat proven talent back.

Are you even trying to come up with something that the other teams might accept? This is only slightly less ridiculous than…

the warriors are the only team that would accept that trade. you actually pulled off something rather difficult, in most 4 team trade ideas at least two teams would agree to it. keep trying and maybe you can create one that nobody would agree to.
