The Season so far...

B Right - 7 minutes, 0 points, 1 block, and 1 foul?  This was supposed to equal J-Rich?  Right...

Tired of this argument.  You do know we make that move so we had room to sign Monta and Andris right?

And I know I will get ripped for this but I do like Mag's game better then J Rich, I think are much harder to defend when you got a guy who will drive to the hole AND have guys who can shoot from outside, with the J Rich/Baron squad we were very perimeter (except of course the occasional spectacular BD dunk).

Even though were deeper then last year, I don't think were as deep as people want to believe we are.  We have necessary roster spots for some very young guys who wont get much PT and will take some time to develop and some spots taken up for scrubs (why pick up the option of Marco if were not going to play him?).

Andris is quality, his footwork is vast improved and he's developing moves around the basket.  Look for his FG% to go down because of this but his rebounds to go up a little.

Turif is a beast, great pick up.  This team is finally getting some size.

DeMarcus has the moxie to make it in the league he just needs time to see if he can put it all together and if he can then he can be on the floor with Monta once he gets back.  His defensive skills will offset Monta's and he can be a quality back up.  In the interim it would be nice to have a vet PG to offset out mass TO numbers.

All in all its a little chaotic right now but as they play more together I think we will actually be improved in most areas (except PG of course).

New to GSofM but being out of Cali its nice to throw ideas out with other fans.

Even though were deeper then last year,

I keep hearing this but I don’t think adding turiaff, rudolf, klutz, and who else ? hendrix? makes up for losing croshere, Barnes and pietrus. Other than rony our “depth” got a lot less experienced.

croshere, Barnes and pietrus.

3 guys I wasn’t exactly thrilled with. Rony is a step up from from Croshere, Buki is a step of from Pietrus and will have more playing time now that Pietrus is gone, so I guess the guys comming off the bench are better even though were still only 7 or 8 deep but other then that I agree. Let’s just say I like the “potential” of SOME of the guys on the bench better then last year but were so young its hard to tell at this point.

Buki is a step of from Pietrus

Maybe, but we had them both last year. The 2007 team had Boom, Jrich,Jax,Al,and Dris, starting plus pietrus,Barnes, and Montay off the bench. Seems like we’ve regressed?

okay you can replace those guys

jax got better, we got maggette, monta got alot better, biedrins got alot better, and buike, and ronny
monta replaces jrich, maggette and sjax improvemnt replace boom
buike replaces pietrus, biedrins alot better, ronny replaces barnes by far as we have a quality big man back up
we could be better but we dont have one really good player
we just have a bunch of good players

by montadaboss on Nov 2, 2008 9:30 PM PST up reply actions

How did Jax get better?

We got Maggs, but lost BD. Monta got injured, and he might not come back to full health, how exactly does that constitute “better”?

We have no depth this year. None. Because 9 of our 10 non-starter roster spots are locked up in young “potential”: Randolph, Wright, Belinelli, Hendrix, Williams, Watson, Nelson, Kurz, and Morrow.

The fact that you think that having 9 guys on your team who’ve played a combined 225 NBA games (more than half of those coming from Marcus Williams) means you’re either smoking some really good stuff, or you’re an idiot. I’d like to sugarcoat it, but if you really think that starting an undrafted rookie on day 1 is a sign of depth, there’s no other explanation.

I hate Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, and Russel Peters because they make fun of white people like me. They also make fun of other kinds of people, which hurts me deep down because my ancestry is so mixed that I don't know what my official "race" is... so I get offended for all races!

action jackson got better?

I see how he got better. He just puts up better number since BD bounce back to LA. but, he does is throw up 3’s and try to plays pg and seems to be a walking TO machine. watch I swear he only probably only put up 15 and 4/4 on another team.

we are not a deep team

i hate how people say we’re deep! Deeper then who?

by stevenro59 on Nov 2, 2008 2:31 PM PST reply actions

last I check...

we are playing 7 and half guys and our roster accounts for 15 players, 12 eligible to play.

by lightz0ut on Nov 2, 2008 6:33 PM PST reply actions

We are deeper than last year...but

The genious that is Don Nelson seems to swears by a 7 man rotation.
We’ve all seen it for a few years now, and quite honestly im sick of it. No wonder our guys are worn out by the end of the season.

"We're deeper than last year"

Ok, let’s see: We’ve kept Monta, Jax, Buke, Beans, TMNT, Belinelli, BWright, CJ

Changes:

Point Guards
Lost: BD, THudson
Signed: Nelson, Williams

Summary: We lost a should-have-been All Star and replaced him with an undrafted rookie and a retread who couldn’t even beat out an undrafted rookie for a spot. Serious loss of depth.

Wings
Lost: Pietrus, Barnes
Signed: Maggette, Randolph, Morrow

Summary: We lost two solid contributors. They may not have been spectacular, but they saw the floor and weren’t detrimental to the cause. We replaced them with one quality player in Maggette and rookies who will not contribute this year. Quality is vastly improved, but depth is not.

Bigs
Lost: Croshere, Lasme, PoB, Kosta
Signed: Turiaf, Hendrix

Summary: Turiaf improves the quality here and depth wasn’t there to begin with. Again, quality improved, but depth did not.

Overall, we lost a ton of depth & quality at PG and lost depth but improved quality on the wings and down low. We need Monta back and we need to have a pleasant suprise from CJ, BWright, or Belinelli to really have any chance of depth.

I hate Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, and Russel Peters because they make fun of white people like me. They also make fun of other kinds of people, which hurts me deep down because my ancestry is so mixed that I don't know what my official "race" is... so I get offended for all races!

hmm

i think he meant we’re in deeper…..

"They can trade me," Bonds said. "I don't think they will, though. It's not like I want to be traded, man. I'm a Giant. I'm stuck here till the end."

Even though it's hard to admit it...

you may be correct on the c-mags and jrich comparison. Despite the all of the heart that J-Rich gave to the warriors, and all of those exciting years with Antawn, Gilbert, Baron, and co. Maggette does get to the line at will, he just has to stop shooting those flat footed threes. We paid him to shoot freethrows, not STACK kind of shots.

by ajgreyiii on Nov 2, 2008 7:38 PM PST reply actions

Maggs gets to the line.

End of story. I’d rather have him with the ball than JRich, and I’d rather have him on the wing for the deadly “second cut” off the dish than hoping that JRich could hoist one up from 25 feet away.

I hate Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, and Russel Peters because they make fun of white people like me. They also make fun of other kinds of people, which hurts me deep down because my ancestry is so mixed that I don't know what my official "race" is... so I get offended for all races!

by Dubs fan in Boston on Nov 3, 2008 2:17 AM PST up reply actions

I agree with this

There is a good J-rich and a bad ones. The good one will drive it down the middle and get to the line while the bad one will only stay on the perimeter all day. Oh well, he could shoots so it all good.

by warriorfan4life on Nov 3, 2008 11:56 AM PST up reply actions

overall, i agree. but last possession when refs don't blow whistles.

JRich’s go to move, post up turnaround fadeaway, is a lot more effective than Maggette who doesn’t really have a go to move. (maybe bulling ppl over?)

obviously, i don’t have the stats, but i’m guessing JRich has a higher percentage on game winning shots than Maggette. i’ve seen JR be reasonably successful with both the W’s pre-Baron and with the Bobcats. last year, w/o Brand/Cassell, Maggette was so bad in these situations that they started going to Cuttino Mobley instead.

by the evil monkey on Nov 3, 2008 12:17 PM PST up reply actions

I'd rather Maggette takes those shots than Jax

But, I’d still rather see him take it to the hoop too…
