"Jack, he was great tonight. I’m a 20-point scorer and Stephen’s a 20-point scorer. It’s kind of on us to really hold the fort. A.B. (Biedrins) was great. He’s getting better (offensively), but I don’t expect him to get 20 and 12 every night. We know who the 20-point scorers are on this team and we’ve got to make sure we do our part." -- Corey Maggette after the Warriors 1st win of the season (!) in New Jersey.
====================================================

Interesting to say the least. Do you expect Biedrins to get 20 and 12 a night? His teammate Maggette sure doesn't seem to. I think Andris is very capable of averaging a very nice 14-11 in this offense.

I think the way he said it came out poorly.

Think it is more of. we are expected to score and sometimes we will get help where its not expected from. But we still have to hold our half of the bargain.

meh

i wouldn’t read too much into it, to be honest. personally, i don’t expect Biedrins to average 20 and 12. 14 and 11, sure, but that’s not 20 and 12. But Biedrins is worth so much more than points and rebounds. He plays the Don Nelson system amazingly well. He never leaves a void at the 5, and that is really worth something.

But anyways, we could even put a positive spin on this quote, if we so chose… Corey Maggette, the supposed do-it-for-my-stats guy just said “we’ve got to make sure we do our part”, NOT “i got to put up my stats”. .. This quote doesn’t bother me, really, at all.

GSoM Blogger= dropping in once a month to take a shot at Biedrins.

“Retired” Blogger= dropping in once a month to take a shot a Biedrins.

Wait a minute… I’m just dropping in once a month to take a shot at Atma. Am I retired or not?

In all seriousness this place isn’t nearly as fun now that you aren’t around as much. Hope everything is going good for you. BTW are you guys getting a piece of this action:

Atma came back a day after this was announced.

So pretty much I’m sure he was told to keep being a part of the group and getting whatever they get, he has to post again. It’s pretty easy to connect the dots.

LOL.

Welcome back, OM! I think any GSoM lull was as much due to your absence as AB1’s, but I grudgingly admit some truth in what you say.

I guess he’s kind of the Sarah Palin of GSoM: “rogue” drama queen, wildly partisan and divisive, prone to preening and talking himself up, not always the sharpest knife in the drawer, sketchy relationship with empirical evidence … but you can’t deny that he adds hella spice.

All in all, I’ll be glad have the AB1 back in my life and Ms. Palin sent back to the frozen tundra. And having “the Barack Obama of the real world” running the free world could be kinda cool too (even if, as AB1 suggests, he’s a corporate shill beloved by whities). Fingers and toes crossed, breath held…

Election fever...

I think I’m going to be a much better Warriors fan after tuesday… and hopefully not as a way to drown my sorrows.

The good news is that even with Monta out I’m still enjoying watching the games. I’m reminded that if i could find some joy watching a team who’s starting line-up featured Speedy Claxton, Eric Dampier, Uncle Cliffy and Dunleavy, then I can probably handle anything as a fan.

BTW somebody should start a “GSoM Election Party” thread on tuesday. Nothing like a bunch of sports fans live blogging a national election. I predict 3000 posts. I’ll mark you Sam and JAE down for a couple hundred each.

i see

beans as a 17 and 11 guy this year. he’s been playing great against the 3 teams so far, but he still hasn’t gone up against the beasts in the west. The lakers, spurs, suns, trail blazers (if oden is healthy) , and rockets will be the real tests.

Context

Depends on the context. Usually players aren’t the most gifted when it comes to conversation.

I don't see 20/12

I see a career 13/10 guy, in the best way possible. It’s not a game about stats. Some guys, second rate scorers at the 2 or 3 like Barbosa will get you 35 points one night and 3 the next. Biedrins is consistent and that’s what we need.

by antihero on Nov 2, 2008 8:29 PM PST reply actions

Consistent

I just want the Warriors to stay consistent this year. I do want AB to go 20-12 or 20-10 at least, but for the rest of the season I would expect a double-double every night but not 20-12 maybe 14-10 on average and that is enough for me

I will always be your fan JRich. Good Luck

i expect

AB FG% will go down a bit later this season (about 0,585 – 0,600)
FT% will go up a bit (65 – 69%) and rebounding per 48 will go down a bit too (not per game)
about 34 m PT
