Next 19 games critcal before Monta comes back(breakdown)
The Warriors are 11 games in and so far i have flip-flopped more than a politician on if there going to be a lottery team to a playoff team. They sit at 5-6 with one of there best players wanting a trade, there cornerstone hurt/suspended, there new aquisition has bad hamstrings, there captin playing more minutes than any man should, there young gun center making double doubles like he works at IN-N-OUT, there young lefties flashing signs of the future and an undrafted rookie who WON'T MISS! Only the Warriors haha. Now if all goes as planned, Monta will be back after his 30 games which is at boston 12/26, so 19 more to go. IF the dubs can continue to hover around .500 i strongly think they can make a push for the playoffs with a HUGE homestand in mid January and despite a ROUGH ROUGH schdule in march. Here is my guess on the next 19 games with Monta:
Nov 21 vs Chicago W
Nov 23at Philadelphia W
Nov 25at Washington W
Nov 26at Boston L
Nov 28at Cleveland L
Nov 29at New York W
Dec 1 vs Miami W
Dec 5 at Houston L
Dec 6 at San Antonio L
Dec 8 at Oklahoma City W
Dec 10 vs Milwaukee W
Dec 12vs Houston L
Dec 13at Denver L
Dec 15 vs Orlando L
Dec 17 at Indiana W
Dec 19 at Atlanta W
Dec 20at Charlotte W
Dec 22at Orlando L
Dec 23at Miami W
11-8 is my forcast but thats just me guessing obviosuly i think the Warriors can play with just about anyone (beside Memphis). So this is hard b/c the Warriors one night will beat a good team (Denver, Portland) but then get the crap beaten out them by the QUEENS. So with my forecast of sunny sky's in these next 19 games Monta would come back to a Warrior team at 16-14 STILL in the hunt for a playoff spot. Now obviously we're a way off and we dont know if Morrow or Beans can keep up there steler play or if we'll have new faces with a trade of Al.
That's my spiel

yes thank you
just about to post that, so the first game he has a chance to be back is at indiana and from what sources have said Monta is ahead of schedule so he should be ready by then. He might be ready before then so the suspension may be to long
by FeartheBeard4 on Nov 20, 2008 6:32 PM PST reply actions 1 recs
But at least it helps not rushing him.
Always better to have a few extra days getting back to it than rushing him to early and doing damage. At least the suspension may worrying about coming back to soon. Gotta look for the positives in life.

good post
didn’t monta just get screws removed from his ankle? i saw that video when he was at practice and he had no limp. does anybody know exactly where monta is at with his recovery. is he able to run and change direction yet? i think while monta is out in this time he should try and work on that 3 point shot a lot. if he adds that to his arsenal there is literally nowhere he can’t score from on the court and will be virtually unstoppable, and he already kind of is unstoppable
by montamazing on Nov 20, 2008 6:45 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
I just hope
He can be the same athletically and this injury doesn’t effect his athleticism the rest of his career. And I agree he should work on his 3’s but I don’t want him to fall in love with it because his mid-range game along with going to the cup is consistent and deadly

i agree
i dont want monta turning into jason richardson… a player with great athletisism that takes jumpshots all day…when monta comes back i think this team will be better than any other at getting to the line, they already almost are

If we go 11-8 over that stretch, I think we’d be overwhelmingly likely to make the playoffs. We’d be 16-14, with Monta and a crapload of home games on the horizon… we’d be sitting pretty.
I don’t think we’re going 11-8. I’d be surprised if we could manage more than seven wins out of these nineteen games, and I’m more optimistic about this year’s team than most. That’s just a lot of tough teams, mostly on the road, which isn’t a great formula for a young, gelling team. 7-12 would, frankly, be pretty good.

As somebody said before, if Monta is ahead of schedule, I would much rather have him take his time and take longer to fully recover so it doesn’t jeopardize his future with us for a few extra wins in a season we probably won’t even make it to the playoffs, and if we do, won’t go deep. I’d rather have us at our strongest when all the usual West powerhouses (Suns, Spurs, Mavs, Rockets) are more on the decline so we can strike when they’re in their rebuilding mode.

can anyone tell me where
I can watch the dubs in LA? I assume there’s not a pro-warriors sports bar down here, but a place with league pass where they show all the games?
I’m stranded down here in Silverlake for a month, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
there must be warriors fans in LA, do they just hide away in their apartments?
and I’d love to see them go 11-8 in those games…but it’s a lot to expect of a wildly inconsistent young team. I’d say 9-10, but I don’t think we’ll necessarily beat the teams we should and lose to the ones we shouldn’t. we’ll pull off a couple upsets and blow some easy ones.

there is a place off Bundy & Pico, in los angeles.
take the 10 west, exit bundy and head north. the next light should be pico, if not, just drive til you see pico and turn right. there is a bar a few blocks down on your left hand side. it is hang out for us BAY AREA folks that are lost in la la land.

i
saw we beat all of them because of Morrow! well i wish but realisticlaly i say alot of the W’s you put will be L’s and alot of the L’s will be W’s. i dont know which but knowing the dubs its usually opposite of what you think. but you did post alot of games you think they would Win on really hard teams. and you did overrate some other teams where you think we would loose
So I don't have a signature well these words would do! Who knew that upgrades can have downgrades too!

Monta
I’m as anxious as the next person to see Monta’s return. But the guy is trying to come back from serious, serious ankle injury. Healing it is one thing, rehab is another thing… and both processes take time. Then there’s the confidence factor and the time for him to regain that subconscious trust in his body again. And for a guy whose speed and quickness defines his game, we may not see last season’s Monta any time this season.
I hate to sound like the pessimist here, but I’m not expecting Monta to explode onto the scene when he hits the court again. I could be wrong, and i really hope that i am, but the way a lot of you are posting it sounds like you’re expecting Monta to fly into the arena like Superman and save the day.
I pray i never have to use a gun again...

I care more about a full recovery rather than rushing him back on the court to record just a couple more wins in what may be a hopeless season.

Yeah, I agree that he shouldn’t be expected to be at full strength anytime this season. He had some lingering knee problems a couple of years ago and this ankle thing is supposedly a lot worse.
I’ll be happy if he returns fully healed in 09-10 season.

good point
I don’t really think he’s going to be at 100% right away, but like you, I sure hope I’m wrong. I think we might be seeing him off the bench to start, especially if Morrow is still Mr. Hot Hand in the Arena.
And I’m not trying to hate, but to the author of the post (good post by the way, especially the part about Andris making double-doubles at In-N-Out, I’m living in Japan now, and that really made me remember home.) “There” is used to direct attention, I think in the post, you meant to use “their”.

k couple things wrong
at least one of those houston/denver games have to be switched to a win. we can beat both of em. san antonio really isnt that good without ginobli even if parker comes back, we can win that one also. and since monta’s projection of coming back is really against indiana, we should be able to beat the second meeting with orlando. other than that its a pretty realistic prediction

OK....
@Atlanta is definitely a loss, @Miami too, @ Philly probably, (gulp) @NY isn’t going to be easy (did I really just say that?). We beat Denver without Billups or AI, they’re 7-1 with Billups in the lineup. We will lose to them on the road. Houston… Orlando… yeah, we’ll take one of the four, but we’ll lose another one that we should win. I’m looking at oxln’s number, 7-12, and I still think we’ll be lucky with that.

i dissagree
atlanta will prbly be a loss. but miami definite loss, sry wrong. they are the most undersized team in the league, they’re one dimensional with d-wade. beasley gets his stats but hes a non impact player that can’t play any defense. and new york will be kinda tough, but if were playing even remotely well we should win. they haven’t beat a good team yet. they beat utah, minus kirilenko and williams. unless they’re shooting fire from 3 land they dont have a chance. they’re also undersized. and philly is playing terribly.

Would rather see Monta back maybe Feb....
He has a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG road ahead and he NEEDS to ensure the ankle is at full strength before even even considers going on a basketball court. Evene a basic jump shot in practic could be enough to put him back months if he happens to land wrong.
There is nooooooooooooo way he should be back for the Boston game and yes he had the screws taken out the other day.

you dont know where his ankle is at...
i mean i dont want him coming back too early, but if the doctors say hes good to go, and his ankle is 100% then he should play in that game.

100% ankle, means he has the capability of playing his 100%game
are you serious i would take 50% of monta’s game over cjwatsons game
by montamazing on Nov 21, 2008 2:27 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Even when he does return
1, he most likely wont start right away. 2, he’ll be out of basketball shape. 3, his ankle most likely will not be “100%” at any time this season.
It’s admirable that you’re so anxious about his return and that you expect him to pop into his first game and be all new and improved, but stop shooting down people that are trying to view his comeback with some realism. Temper your love for Monta with some common sense. Injuries take time to recover from, physically and mentally. Just because you have the green light to play doesn’t mean you pick up right from where you left off… and more often than not, you don’t.

what im saying is
if monta’s ankle is 100healed by then, then he should be playing atleast a little bit, the only thing im scared of is if he comes back on 80 and reinjures it, but if he’s 100% and this is not a possibility he should atleast come off the bench and get in game shape while playing in games atleast a little.
by montamazing on Nov 21, 2008 3:36 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
First and foremost Montamazing...
I tore my achilles tendon in my right ankle in practice following a British College Championship Quarter final so I do know a little about ankle injuries! and a little less about playing Ball!!
Therefore I know that:
A: He will be playing with an ankle strap when he does come back, which takes some getting used to and DOES limit your jump a tad.
B: You have a mental barrier to come through, everytime you jump there is this little demon in your head that says “watch the ankle”. Everytime you fast break past someone, the same little demon says “watch his foot so you dont twist that ankle…” This goes away after time..but it’s tere trust me.
C: YOU NEVER KNOW IF YOUR 100% HEALED!!!!!!!!! You certainly wont be 100% in December! why? Because an athlete of this caliber has taken years jumping, running and conditioning the muscles in his ankles to work in a certain way, to have a certain strength and he has lost a large percentage of that with this injury (mainly due to the fact that a doctor has been in there) It will take a long road as I said above to condition that back and I honestly would not expect anyone is able to say the ankle is 100% until possibly the start of next season.
So before you go throwing your over excited personal comments around, consider there may just one or two people on these boards that might possibly have some valued input of such situations to help people like you understand the true scale of what Monta has to face in his recovery.

I’ve never broke any bones in it, but i’ve sprained my ankle quite a few times and partially dislocated it once. I know i didn’t get the level of professional attention for it that Monta is getting, but i do know that every time i’ve hurt it, it’s never been the same. The physical rehab takes time. The mental rehab is definitely real and can’t be discounted. I think it’s extremely obvious that Montamazing has never had a bad enough ankle injury to even slightly comprehend the road ahead for Monta.

I think with the Crawford trade
We are looking at Monta being a sixth man and Buike or Morrow will start, at least to at the beginning of his return.
