What impact does you believe this will have on the West?

With a current lineup of as follows:

1. Crawford

2.Morrow/Buike

3.Jacks

4.Magg

5.Andris

This is in my opinion the most "Realistic" liineup for our squad to put on the court as soon as we get Jamal in Uni.  Since Monta's wrapped up and place under our Christmas tree until we can unwrap him in late December(if that early), how do you feel about the new look Dubs?

In reading Hollinger's analysis on ESPN, this caught my attention and got me thinking....

"So in a nutshell, the Warriors improved their present without severely impacting their future, while the Knicks improved their future without severely impacting their present. All the attention will be on the latter aspect because of the implications for the Great LeBron Sweepstakes. But don't underestimate the former -- the path to a spot in the West's top eight just got measurably tougher, so fans in places like Dallas and Denver should care about this trade just as much as those in Cleveland."

When Monta comes home and we get to put a squad consisting of 4, YES...count'em....4.....20 PPG Scoreres, how well are our chances of seeing the playoffs this year?

I'm starting to like this deal more and more the day goes on!!!!

What do you guys think?

I think we can

make the playoffs as long as this team gels. By that I mean people can distribute to each other, find the open man and feed the hot hand. That is my one concern once Monta is back, that is will there be to many scorers and not enough distributing. But, we thought that about Maggette and his assists have gone up, same thing with Jackson. I hope Morrow still atleast gets a good 24 minutes or so a night as well once Monta is back. Crawfords 45% mark from three along with most 3’s made is something to get excited about.

I think Nellie encourages ball movement more so than D'Antoni

Also, Crawford was the only real offensive weapon on the Knicks, I think he will pass the ball around more now with all the scorers on this team.

Monta should and could very well be our 6th man for awhile. He wont be 100% this year (Hope I’m wrong). I think starting Morrow and/or Azubuike until Monta is near 85-90%+ will be a better solution because it wont rush Monta back, and he will slowly acclamate himself to the game again. And if More-O and Buke play well, Monta as the 6th man makes us a STRONG team

With Maggs’ contract, Jackson’s extension and now Crawford on the books, I guess that rules out Lebron coming to the bay or even any big name coming to the bay in the 2010 offseason.

WARRIORS BASKETBALL!!! Patiently waiting for a title...I may be waiting for a long time...

and we really could have gotten Nowitzki...

he loves Nelly (Nelly loves him), loves the Bay Area (was gonna go to Cal before jumping to the NBA), would fill the biggest holes on the dubs (pf/superstar player), and would be the final piece of the puzzle that would get the warriors into legitimate title contender talks.

I’m Starting the BRING DIRK TO THE BAY movement Officially…..11/21/08………………………………..

That’s playing for separate teams. Morrow shows you that you give just about any good scorer the ball and they can get you 20 pts.

Just...I never really considered the Dubs pushing for that big name.

The Lebrons and DWades of the League wouldn’t come this way without the biggest offer anyway, and With Monta and Beans already being tied up for the long haul, I gave up that kind of hope a while ago.

Seriously though, as beautiful as the BAY is, LEBRON nor any other “big name” will come here! I think the WARRIORS are doing the right thing by retaining and building around the YOUTH they have now.

Good sign for fans

“we want to win now”

I wonder what happens to those teams who shed salary and don’t get a superstar. They will overpay for lesser players, as there will be so much free cap space everywhere and people will overbird to make sure they get someone good.

Ligthz...

Let me clarify that…I mean the skillz of these players when I meatn the PPG. It takes a quality NBA starter to Average 20+ PPG. Something for example that Al has never done. I don’t expect these guys to collectively give us 20ppg and drop a guaranteed 80 spot a night.

I’m just excited at the idea of having a lineup of such talented players. I can’t really think of another team that has a collection of scorers like that? Not to mention the 15/15 that Beans has been averaging this year…that’s something to get excited about.

oh....and as for Morrow...

a guy that can give you 20 points for A game is much different that a guy you could give you 20 PPG for a season? Don’t you agree?

crawford

I just hope Morrow doesn’t disappear now that we have crawford, especially once Monta is back.

by FeartheBeard4 on Nov 21, 2008 2:56 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

He wont disappear

But hopefully CJ Watson does now, and less of Buike as well.

by pbra17 on Nov 21, 2008 3:25 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Nah its small ball

Even if Monta starts Morrow and Buike are the first two off the bench, unless AB needs out. Wright will probably see less playing time as a result. Remember 07 Boom, Monta, J-RIch, Jack, AB/AL, who came off the bench? P and Barnes. Small ball, just what Nellie wants.

Let's compare those lineups and see how we stack up (speculation)

We replace Baron and Monta with Crawford and Monta, Baron is better than Jamal, Monta is better than 2 years ago (I Hope). Jack replaces J-Rich at SF, better defense, comparable offense. Maggs is at the four instead of Jack. Better suited to play big guys. Jack shut down Dirk. Maggs so far has taken it to LMA and Camby, and he did hella well on Rasheed. Stronger, quicker more athletic than Jack. AB from this year and Ronny as the rotating 5 vs Al and a 20 year old Andris, this year is better. 2 guys off the bench P and Matt vs Morrow and Buike. Morrow is better than all three at shooting, he rebounds well, Buike is better all around. Matt and P were better than Morrow at D. Also we can go deeper with BWright and CJ. I like our odds, especially since the west is down.

PLAYOFFS!!!!!

We’ll score 120 a game. But we need to play active D and be SUPER active on the boards.
DUB FOR LIFE!!!

We’ve got a shot at the playoffs, but Crawford doesn’t have much to do with it. He improves our depth, gives us another three-point shooter, but he won’t affect the fortunes of this team much either way. If we’re a playoff team, it’ll be because of Biedrins, Monta, Maggette and Jack. Wright still has more of a chance to change our fortunes than Crawford.

by onlxn on Nov 21, 2008 3:36 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Our team ran out of gas late last year.

Maybe with our depth this year we can use a larger rotation. Some players may not like it too much, but they might have a little energy at the end of the season.

But that really isn’t Nellies style.

by GS Worrier on Nov 22, 2008 10:45 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

well

I’m not really that familiar with Crawford’s game, but he seems to be a better look at Point Guard than any of our other guyes. Now CJ can be back up point, which is a better look for him. Someone said the West is down, and that seems true. The best teams in the west got a little better (Utah, Houston, Lakers) but the middle teams and previous elites (Dalls, San Antonio) are looking vulnerable. And Monta coming back can only make us better (I like what someone said about him being our 6th man for a while). My only concern might be a possible ego problem from Monta, but hopefully nothing really sour comes from that. I like our chances.
WE STILL BELIEVE!!!
