Monta next??

Just thinking outside the box i like to guess what might happen by evaluating whats already happened. Let me preface what im about to write by saying that im a big fan of this trade and think crawford (poor man's boom dizzle, without the girth) will surprise many here, grow to be loved by most and excel with nelson and monta by his side. However, i cannot help but wonder with roughly 40 million invested in 4 perimeter players regardless of where nellie start maggs, who is the odd man out? obviously not jackson. and probably not maggette. i love what he bring to the team, ft shooting combined with an ability to get to the rim and a killer midrange game but would personally trade him and not signed him in the first place. i wouldnt put it past the organization to trade him quickly but i doubt it will happen. crawfords skills are raw and im worried about his shot selection but this dude is a straight up baller!! doesnt rebound, but he will replace ALOT of what diddy brought to the table. he complements monta perfectly and will be very interchangeable peices with PG duties shared offensively by him monta and sjax. we bring morrow and bukie of the bench, and thats the rotation. sounds good, but standing pat and letting our bigs develop could be that plan and just trotting premiere high priced perimeter players out there. obviously cj is lost in the mix but something is telling me we could be going in another direction come the trade deadline. you heard it here first. MONTA WILL BE TRADED!!

-Given the bad taste left in both parties mouths i suspect a move will be made to trade monta or void his contract (doubt but still a possiblity.) If mullin is indeed monta biggest fan and he's on his way out he is easily our biggest asset to get a real prize out on the open market. toss in belinelli and wright and could be lookin at a real prize, but who is anybodies guess. i just hope its an allstar caliber big who truely compliments AB. consequently, i think that person just got traded to the clips but thats just me. Could this happen and who would it be for??

I think if any of them gets dealt it will be Maggette, though he’s not eligible to be traded til December.

by sam23 on Nov 21, 2008 5:18 PM PST reply actions

Agreed

Maggette goes(probably not this year though), Steinmetz has been stupid until recently, and by the end of the season Monta is once again going to be everyone’s favorite Warrior. There is too much speculative drama within the Warriors right now.

So Randolph was the the best all-star caliber big to compliment Latvia? Randolph is just one of those things….big.

Nah

I’m just funnin’ with you. I may be wrong, but I’m pretty sure WarriorForLife is a dude. IIRC, the webin is some 16 y.o. chick from a Filipina version of American Idol. If you’re lucky, maybe WFL will link the clip for you…

Peace.

And hey, I totally understand: I think I asked WFL about the comely young lass in the purple top when he first started posting her, too. Then I felt incredibly lecherous when I realized she’s young enough to be my daughter. By the “half plus seven” rule, I’m not even supposed to look at women under age 27… :-O

if a trade for monta

can land us a bonafide superstar you would be crazy not to take it. Off hand (not that i would do it really) I tried the trade checker and this worked…basically Monta/mags/bukake/wright/marco/marcus for jason terry dirk and a draft pick

Terry
Crawford
Jackson
Dirk
Biedrins

Randolph
Turiaf
Morrow
CJ
our own 1st rder
dallas’ 1st rounder
Nelson
Kurz

Thats a team that would go deep in the postseason

did you just trade

monta and maggette for dirk and terry… i mean seriously? you think dirk is gonna win a championship? seriously? terry… well he’s just a good shooter not a star… and then u traded buike, wright, marco and marcus, for a draft pick… seriously. seriously?

...trade checker...

espn’s trade checker is probably the worst thing to happen to nba message boards…

(i know you prefaced it by saying the trade makes no sense…but you’re right…it makes no sense…)

I can't even read

Learn to break into paragraphs.

But I hear it. Too many swingmen. A major trade is lurking.

The pop ups on this site are starting to piss me off.

by danielholl on Nov 22, 2008 3:24 AM PST reply actions

Seriously

Can we please get some grammar in here. All of the misspelling, lack of punctuation, and no attempt at structure makes posts like this a pain to read. I don’t mean to pick on this person, because the content was interesting; but man, is it that hard to use commas?

Also, trading Monta would be a huge step back. If any big trade is made, it should be someone more like Corey Maggette and some of our extra bench players for a good Forward to compliment Beans.

by Aware1 on Nov 23, 2008 4:44 AM PST up reply actions

GOD I HOPE SO...

We definitely have a log jam at guard, let the dealing continue !

IF....

Grant Hill can come back from huge injuries and consecutive surgeries and still have a decent nba career at HIS age, then Monta should be able to come back and still have a GREAT nba carreer at HIS young ripe old age.

Why mess with that?

by meximocha on Nov 22, 2008 10:05 AM PST reply actions

ummmmmmmmmmmmmm

no. i think youve forgotten how integral monta was to last years team. he’s not going anywhere for the next 3 years, at least.

U gotta tell these ppl to stop posting these monta trades,

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Monta is Montazing. Trade Corey Maggette…He is, what is the word…REDUNDANT.

God what an awful awful signing. Trade him for expirings if there is a team willing to take him on for the terrible 10 mill he’s making…jeebus….weren’t the spurs interested in him? Maybe they will panic and package Kurt Thomas and someone like Matt Bonner for Maggs….they both come off the books in 2010 and Thomas could be a useful banger down low.

More trades

More trades thats exactly what we need!!

Trade Corey Maggette…He is, what is the word…REDUNDANT.

He’s not redundant, the players similar to him are. Keep the best of the lot and move the others. Same with Montay and Crawford, see which is the best 2 guard and move the other for a point guard, Figure out which SF we want and get a real power forward by trading the other skinny guys. It’s not rocket science unless you are Houston.

Maggette Redundant?

I second the rebuttal above….he is a great shooter who gets to the line a lot and actually makes the free throws. He brings something to the table we haev been missing for 13 years.
He may not be a great defender, but he seems to be improving with every game and he is strong as hell which is a good foundation to build on.
I would say Bicepts Buike is the redundant one at this point.
