what the warriors need to do to win

heres my brief little thing on how the warriors could stop sucking.

Star-divide

1. we could use a new owner/president. as of now our owner/president suck because they're not willing to put down the money for players that can help the team(baron, arenas, j-rich) or they put their money down on crappy players (fisher, foyle, dunleavy). we need a owner/president that is like cuban.

2. obviously we don't have a championship caliber team rite now especially that monta isnt here but even if he was playing we still would not be top 4 in the west. we needa get a true point, another biedrins type player that can score at will and whos bigger.

3. we could always get a new coach. yeah nellie got us to the playoffs good great but he hasnt done it lately. the 13 years b4 we believe season he got the warriors to the playoffs but not championship. all he can offer us is some damn good entertaining basketball. i mean if the suns cant win a championship with an even better run n gun system and better players how the hell are the warriors supposed to.

any other suggestions on how the warriors can stop sucking or hatemail comment below

Let me start off by saying that you do not sound like a knowledgeable Warriors fan. Although you stated some things we could do to turn into a championship caliber team, you do not mention HOW. You say we need this and we need that, but what are we going to do to attain these assets? Using your logic, I could say “We need to get Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul and we’ll finally win a championship.” Easier said than done.

We don’t put down money for players that can help the team and you list Baron, Arenas, and J-Rich. Hello? We offered ALL three of them money (with J-Rich leaving via trade with years left on his contract). What about Elton Brand? Come on, do you even know what you’re rambling through your mouth?

THUNDER NO MORE

Guess you don’t go to WARRIORS games, cuz THUNDER hasn’t been around since the start of the season. They definitely need to change the uni’s though, but probably won’t happen until the end of the season.

NO HAITIANS

Then all the WARRIORS will lose their powers when the owner is watching and maybe even lose their memories! =P

i wish there was a player out there that could truely score at will.

Want to get rid of Don Nelson? Ok. A few questions first . . .

1. What, specifically, does Don Nelson do that you would do differently and how would that help the team win more games?

2. What does he not do that you would do and how would that help the team win more games?

3a. Which available head coach, that would accept the Golden State job, would you hire and why?

3b. What would that coach do differently than Don Nelson that would help the team win more games?

You can answer the same questions for Cohan and Rowell's prospectve replacements

As far as a “true” point guard goes, it would be interesting to know who you’d target and how the Warriors would acquire that individual. I suppose that you’d have to know who your replacement coach is first before you’d want to find the best PG for his (or her) system.

alright alright answering your questions now...

1. small ball/run n gun doesn’t work it never will, if mike d’antoni cant do it with an all start line up then what are the warriors chances of doing it.

2. answer 1

3a. Avery Johnson, lead his team to the finals in his first season and had the most wins the following season which nellie has never done

3b. has offensive style of nellie, stresses defense more

by gswLLBatman on Nov 23, 2008 11:06 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Avery Johnson replacing Don Nelson would be worth it just for the PR storm!

I guess I wasn’t clear with my question or my use of the word “specific” wasn’t, err, specific enough.

What about small ball/run and gun doesn’t work and never will? Just because it didn’t work for the Suns and Warriors doesn’t mean that it is an inherently bad strategy, there has to be a cause for it to not ever be able to work. What is that cause? How would you defend differently?

What does Avery Johnson do on Defense and Offense differently than Don Nelson and what makes those things more conducive to winning more games?

Reduce your carbon footprint, commit suicide.

I

heard the reason to why small ball/ run won’t work on I think NBATV like a couple days ago. It would get you a couple of wins but when the playoffs arrive the tempo starts to slow down and than the complete team or the superstar would take over. The game will get slow and their would be a lot of isolation, or team pass and open shoot. We don’t do any of them. Jax has a chance but he plays to much and is an undersized SF. and since we are undersized we cannot defend the bigs when the tempo is slow good example Utah we could not do anything on them they just pounding it into boozer and than put it back out to Dwill because we got sucked into boozer. we need like 5 Chris Boshes if we are going to win with the style since he is big and can run. We need to fix the team a bit but our circumstances don’t allow that sadly.

So I don't have a signature well these words would do! Who knew that upgrades can have downgrades too!

like against the Mavs….small ball just killed us. Its EASIER to win with a slower style and better D in the playoffs. But its also EASIER to do those things with a dominant big man. Those are very far and few between. Maybe Biedrins is developing into one, maybe not. But while we wait, and while we clearly dont have the talent to contend no matter who our coach is, I’m more than happy to settle on being the most entertaining team to watch on the floor in the league. Stop whining and calling for Nellie’s head and enjoy how different this is than the 13 miserable post nellie seasons we had. (directed more at Batman than you 24k)

agreed

having the right personell is more important than having the right coaching style. if you think the warriors of two seasons ago would have been better if they ran with a more ‘traditional’ lineup, you are sadly mistaken. what nelson does very well is get the most out of the players he has. it certainly would be easier to win titles with a dominant big, a great low post defender, one wing who can kill teams in the crunch and another to shut the best offensive option down, all ran by a steady mistake free point guard, but unfortunately, those types of players don’t tend to just show up on the doorsteps of most nba arenas.

and the talk about avery is nonsense. he is a terrible overcoacher. the reason the warriors got past the mavs when they had the best record in the league is that nelson seriously outcoached avery and then the psychological battle was won. thanks to the absurd decision by avery to go small to contend with a team that was clearly less talented (how many fewer wins did the dubs have that year?) made it clear that the warriors were in their heads. the dubs expected to win and the mavs hoped to compete. that should never be the scenario in an 1 vs 8 matchup. so tell me, is avery really the better coach?

heart of a champion, will of the warrior.

i so agree avery screwed that up so bad he could of so beat us if he didn’t toy with us which back fired. he tried to show he could of used his smalls on ours totally screwing up how they got the best record in the first place. they put dirk to far out which screwed him up since the smalls could defend him out there i.e baron. they could of put the bigs on us and beat us by like 30 every game but they didnt. Freaking Chuck said it all the time and they did not listen. I do have to give it to Nellie he exploited Dirk and the rest of the mavs but as the season after showed they knew how to beat us now

So I don't have a signature well these words would do! Who knew that upgrades can have downgrades too!

alright alright

up until now no run n gun team has ever gotten gotten a championship. until all star players play in the system or it gets tweaked it may one day win a championship. avery made opposing teams score less then nellie has so im guessing his doing something right on defense or different

Nellie vs Avery

I think the coaching ability of nellie vs avery is apparent in the fact that avery coached the team 2 years and was fired. the team he took the championships was a purely Nellie built team.

On the more traditional teams Nellie has had, he’s never had a Big Man in his prime. He does now with Biedrins. Nellie signed on for 2 more years because i believe he sees the nucleus of potentially his best team, but he’s going to need 2 more years to get it there.

Monta may or may not be the PG that brings it home, but if he’s not – he’s VALUABLE in a trade. If he is, then the Warriors become contenders next year.

btw…Can we please trade Bellinelli? I’m tired of seeing him ride pine and he’s never going to break through with the W’s considering the guys ahead of him. I’ll take a 2nd rounder.
