RECAP: Warriors 100 Wizards 124 - This IS a Joke
Final Boxscore | Open Thread (520+ Comments)
Eye of the Tiger?
I am not a happy R Dizzle.
About 5 seconds into the game, I lost my excitement to watch the game.
As I sit here with my bottle of Chocolate Nesquick, all I can do is ask...WHY?!?!
And then a few more things.
Peep the jump....
1. If the Warriors fell off tonight, lost to the WORST team in the NBA, would I still be a fan?
2. Did this guy really score 25 points, come down with 12 boards, and block 5 shots?

3. Did we really give up 20 turnovers?
4. Did a rookie named JaVale McGee score 14 points off some monster dunks?
5. Did Dee Brown pull down 10 points after only getting 9 in the previous 11 games?
6. Did I really liken this guy
to this musical genius?
7. Did I really just waste 2 hours of my life watching a game where the Warriors scored less points than their opponent, EVERY QUARTER?
8. How come there was no bad karma from firing Eddie Jordan while he was working a charity event?
9. Why do I have to keep writing recaps for games that we lose?
10. Why did Darius Songalia pull a rebound over Ronny Turiaf?
11. How come Anthony Morrow came back to reality and hasn't scored over double digits since his second game as a starter?
12. How come Andris didn't pull down a double-double?
13. Wait no, make that - how come no one on the Dubs pulled out a double-double?
14. Why in the world did I predict something so silly as "Warriors win by 20?"
15. Why is he still on our team?
16. How come I can only find a few pics from the game with Warriors players?
17. Why didn't my boy, Rob Kurz, get any burn?
18. How come this guy looks so angry even though he pulled off his first win as a coach?
19. How in the world did the Wizards have a 30 points lead on us at one point?
20. Who's worse on the court, Anthony Randolph or Brandan Wright?
21. What is the rest of the season going to look like if we're 5-9 off close games and silly losses?
22. WHY are we getting destroyed on the boards?
23. Is this team a JOKE?
24. Is this my future wife?
25. If the Warriors fell off tonight, lost to the WORST team in the NBA, would I still be a fan?
SOMEONE GIVE ME SOME ANSWERS!

to beat a dead horse
the jackson/nelson extentions are looking dumber by the game. they’re in danger of reaching foyle/dunleavy levels of stupidity very soon.
i don’t know why you’re calling out wright when he goes 5-6 for 10 points with 5 boards in just 16 minutes. begs the question why he plays so much less than randolph, who goes 1-7 for 2 points, 4 boards, and 5 turnovers. that falls directly on the shoulders of nelson

I feel it...
I agree with you. Jackson is only doing so bad because of Nelson, though. He still doesn’t get on him about those terrible mistakes he makes. Remember that play in the first or second quarter when Randolph got a block and when we had the fast break Jackson pulled up for a three? I think we might’ve gotten the ball back but that’s not the point! And I really don’t know why Wright’s not playing 30+ minutes a night when he’s been the most consistent player on the team all year by far.
Also, the calls were truly terrific (wink, wink). Maggette didn’t get on the line until we were down twenty something in the fourth quarter if I’m not mistaken. If Nelson were any kind of coach he’d have chosen to get thrown out of this game to make a statement. I don’t know if anyone else has noticed but the league’s about to let us turn into the team we were before the “We Believe”-era started. I know I just sound like a disgruntled fan but honestly, Washington didn’t even have all that good of a game tonight if you look at their play, and they stomp us 20+? It just makes me wonder.

Wright really does need to be in there more than 16 minutes, and NOT AT CENTER. And yes, way too many offensive drives ended up as no-calls when they should have been fouls. There was a lot of contact, but the referees let most of them go until it didnt matter.

Stack Jack
The 5 year extenstion is a bad decision. I know it’s relatively cheap compared to other NBA players on his level but his decision making is horrible. He has too much repsonsibilty and he thinks he’s better than he really is. Don’t get me wrong, he’s clutch but not constantly clutch. I just hope he takes a smaller role in the near future.

I’d like to see him as the leader of the second unit (getting 30 minutes, 10-15 fg attempts max), defensive energy provider, and crunch time shooter: basically the same role he played with the Spurs, with the added resonsibility of being the team’s de facto spiritual leader and bench coach.
When Monta returns, the starting five should really be:
Monta
Crawford
Maggette
Wright
Biedrins
With Jack, Buki, Turiaf, Morrow and Rudolph providing energy and spark off the bench.

“Not constantly clutch” isn’t discernibly different from “inconsistent” or “normal variation”.
Rowell clearly had some notion that Jax was important, a notion that seems to be based far more on what I suspect was largely a coincidental bad run while he was out. There was no reason to ‘lock him up’ and every reason to wait out his previous contract. He will not be ‘relatively cheap’ if he plays as he has which, although worse on the shooting so far, hasn’t been too out of step with most of his career.
The future of the franchise now seems to depend on Monta coming back and being able to be a lead guard. If not, if he really does have to spend his time at the 2, then there’s close to $35mil a year tied up for the next several years for 4 guys who should spend some if not all of their time at the 2 spot.

I JSUT FIGURED OUT WHAT WILL SAVE US!
it is exactly what is making us loose. The alcohol and age of nelson making him make those bad decisions will be our savior! He drinks so much and is so old he will probably be incapacitated sooner or later. im not saying i want him to die just saying if you don’t take care of your body it will come back to haunt you.

Be patient
Give Crawford a week or to gel with the team. This is year’s another re-building year (again) so don’t expect the world. When Monta gets back (hopefully at 100%) we can then judge the team.

I guess the Wizards were fired up
The ESPN recap says that Eddie Jordan was a popular coach. Did the Wizards players really like him? Were they fired up about Jordan getting canned? It kind of reminds me of us when we got fired up after that ridiculous end game T against Nellie two seasons ago against, ironically, these Wizards.
But that’s still no excuse for the way we played.

Here we go again....whine central.....
Guess what…. the wizards were on fire, it happens! Get over it!
We also introduced a player into the mix (Crawford) who clearly didnt know the plays and our entire rhythm as a squad went out of the window.
Stephen Jackson has got to wake the hell up. He is in no position to complain like he did after the last game, when he continues to make such terrible pass selections and turnovers.
Our defense was terrible and I do mean TERRIBLE!
I have no doubt once Crawford gets into the swing of things and other players know him better, we will improve.
We are hitting bumps in road, just as every other team that takes a shock loss.
Get ready for an 0-4 road trip….. BUT SO WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have a young team learning that the NBA is a country mile from College ball and it will continue to take time to get them working together, but it will come. Randolph needs a Veteran to take him under his wing, as currently his enthusiasm to block shots is overtaking his basketball IQ to ensure he is covering his area. Too often he is going for the big block, missing and finding himself out of position and the resulting gap provides a very easy basket.
So suck it up fellas and stop whining, this team needs support right now not constant bitching or I will start issuing knitting needles for all the old women that have nother better to do that slag off this team!
Finally NO…not a hope in hell that is your future wife! ;) Although the girls certainly seemed pretty good quality!
Now lets see if the guys pull off an amazing coup and beat the Celtics and the Cavs! Hell I might even bet $20 on it, just for the hell of it, I suspect I get some pretty damn good odds following tonights game.

The only people that should think this is a joke,
are the people that thought that Crawford was some sort of missing piece. This is not a good team, plain and simple. But the good news is, wait there really isnt any good news. We got our coach and our core players locked up for the next few years. So we are pretty much screwed, we’ll be somewhere between 7th to 11th in the west, bad enough to not make any real noise in the west, good enough to not have a shot at the lottery. Way to go Rowell and company.
BUT there is some good news, MONTA ELLIS is back in 16 games hopefully.

The new worst team in the league?
Why? Somehow the W’s managed to make a superstar out of Andray Blatche tonight (25 pts., 12 reb., 5 blocks, 5 steals). The rebounding and defense seem to be getting worse game by game. I can live with the mistakes, but not the lack of effort. I do like Crawfords 7 assists and the fact that he didn’t come in gunning.
There has to be a point where a team’s collective pride will not allow them to accept a beat down like this from a team that has been staggering. I’m waiting to see which team members will step forward.

Gilbert Arenas injured…Eddie Jordan Canned…the arrival of Jamal crawford and the Warriors -2, I couldn’t help but lay a bet down on the dubs…bad judgement…Today’s game hurt and hurt my pocket as well….its it safe to say this was the worst loss of the season? I think it tops the Grizz/Kings L’s

I agree
that it was extremely silly for you to predict a 20 point win over the Wizards. The Wizards are a pretty good team they’re record and injuries just doesnt show it at all. But that team is reenergized and remotivated. Its time for them to start winning again. They are not the worst team in the league like everyone kept saying in the game blog. The Thunder occupy that postion.
I always read BulletsForever blog but I like to see the opinion of the opponent sometimes.

i will still watch because
i predicted that the warriors would win around 15-20 games this season. I was After this 0-5 road trip we should be well on pace for that.
We lose 60 plus games, people lose interest, people stop buying warriors crap, owner loses money, owner decides to sell. Enter new owner, enter new culture. That’s what I’m hoping for, been hoping for the last 10 years.
Besides, the red tube x hamster tradition after every loss replaces the pain with joy in an instant, excellent coping mechanism.

I don’t know bout you guys, but I ain’t surprised. Even with all the injuries the wiz are still better than us on most nights! No consistency. No identity. Who the hell is this team!!!! And we got Monta coming back hopefully a hundo % to run this team…nope. Crawford better come through in a big way! Did you see denver with all that talent floundering? BOOM Billups. Now they have a true general guiding that talent. Now they are a real threat. A real “TEAM”. Man, we got a bunch of “Maybe talent” never getting time. Cool. I am a Bay Area fan till the day I die… but I am struggling to find hope in any our teams at the moment or for seeable future. If anything this team could be scrappy and streaky, but get used to losing to any team on any given night. Terrible team management. I hate them. Anyhow I am gonna look at our “WE BELIEVE” era as our finals ring. It was an incredible high and I’ll never forget it. As for the hope of us getting a ring in the next ten years… forgotten.

Monta Savior?
LOL Skeptic.
Monta is a quality player who has notably grown with each year of his still young career. But expecting him to run the team seems optimistic. He’s an outstanding shooting guard but I’ve not seen evidence that he creates things for other players in a dominant way. That role comes down to Jamal, and to Jax.
I wonder whether everyone is a little guilty, including the players and coaching staff, of banking too heavily on Monta’s return rather than looking at the more fundamental problems of this team. The small ball alignment isn’t likely to win too many games with the current personnel. I understand the logic of finding a way to have 3 proven scores on the court at once but Corey isn’t going to consistently come off as a power forward. I suspect that he and Jax are too similar as players – both in style and up/downsides to have on the court at the same time for long periods.
