Someone we should make a run for...
If he opts out of his current contract, I seriously think that we should try to entice Carlos Boozer to become a Dub next summer.
I hated him during the 2007 playoffs because we couldn't stop him. But....I'd love him if he could do things he did against us then FOR us.
In light of our HORRID game tonight, I took a quick peek at our rebounding stats. At one point, they said that we were at 54-34 (we ended up 54-40 on rebounds, but the game was already decided well before then). Those rebounds led directly to more shot attempts (something like 20 more?) by the Wizards and ultimately the 124 point assault we just got out of.
Biedrins is playing superbly this whole season, and same goes for Wright and Turiaf (Turiaf mainly because of his defense, which is something you can't usually associate the Warriors with). But getting an all-star big man like him would serve many purposes:
1. We'd be better defensively (and perhaps a little better offensively too with him getting a good number of offensive rebounds to enable a shot at second chance points).
2. He could teach the youngsters (props to Turiaf again, I'm sure he's doing a little of that right now).
3. He'd help Beans out a lot by taking some of the defensive pressure off (kinda falls into reason #1).
Of course, he may not be the best fit for Nellie's run and gun system....but I think it would give the team more flexibility. Use run and gun when it'll work, but then have the big guys able to come out if it's gonna be more of a slow-paced defensive game.
I'm not a basketball analyst by any means, but I'd like to know what you all think. If he was immediately available and I was in charge of the Dubs, I would do whatever we could (like getting rid of some of our expendable 2's and 3's) to make space for him.

We got outrebounded by 19.6 boards a game during that GS/UTAH series
Boozer was just too athletic in the post. If the Rockets won Game 7 @ home against the Jazz and advanced to the 2nd round, the Warriors would have ran Yao out of the building and Golden State would have made it to the WCF.

seriously
i thought we could of even made it to the finals it would of been a long shot but we could beat the spurs that year.
So I don't have a signature well these words would do! Who knew that upgrades can have downgrades too!

ummm...
HOW? I really doubt Crawford will opt out….why the hell would he? Even if he does we still dont have the money to land Boozer.
Boozer would be a godsend for this team, but he ain’t Nellie-friendly, and there’d be almost no way to get him here. We can’t sign him, as we have no cap room. We’d need to cobble together a package that the Jazz would like enough to work a sign-and-trade with us — that package would need to be more attractive than the cap space it’d displace. That’d be tough.
But, for the hell of it, let’s throw a trade together. Boozer will probably command a max contract or close to it, meaning $16 million a year. That means we’d need to work at least one big contract in there, if not two. The Jazz would have no interest in Stephen Jackson or Jamal Crawford, given their contracts (I don’t see Crawford opting out). We would probably have no interest in giving them Biedrins… it’d sort of defeat the purpose of adding Boozer to the frontcourt. The Jazz do like Corey Maggette to some degree — they were one of the teams who offered him their mid-level exception in the offseason — but I don’t know that they’d be interested in him at his current price. If anything, I’m guessing they’d prefer ‘Buike, who’s a slightly worse player but much cheaper.
The only big-contract guy that might make the Jazz think twice is Monta. The Jazz have a pretty damn good young backcourt already, but Monta might be better than anyone they could sign with their cap room in ‘10, if only because Utah’s such an unappealing destination for free agents. So what about, say, Boozer for Monta and Azubuike? (I don’t know if this would work cap-wise, but I think it’d be close.)
Does it work for us?
PG – Jamal Crawford
SG – Stephen Jackson
SF – Corey Maggette
PF – Carlos Boozer
C – Andris Biedrins
…with Wright, Turiaf, Randolph, Morrow, Harpring and Watson on the bench. Pretty interesting team. You’d still kind of want a pure point guard, but that’s a BIG team, with scoring galore and credible defense. Works for us, even if Nellie would hate it.
What would the Jazz look like?
PG – Deron Williams
SG – Monta Ellis
SF – Andrei Kirilenko
PF – Paul Millsap
C – Mehmet Okur
…with Brewer, Azubuike, Korver, Miles and Price on the bench. Would that be worth it for the Jazz? Mayyyybe. If they re-sign Okur, they probably won’t be real players in the 2010 FA market even after losing Boozer… maybe this is the best they could do. But they’d be starting Monta at the expense of Brewer, who matches up better with Williams on defense. It’s not a no-brainer for them. (Another option would be Monta/Maggette for Boozer/Harpring, but I just don’t see the Jazz biting on Maggette.)
This trade would require the Jazz getting desperate and Boozer wanting to play here, neither of which is likely. It’d require Nellie abandoning small-ball, which is even less likely. But would it be good for us? Sure.
but he ain’t Nellie-friendly
That’s all that needs to be said.
Carlos Boozer could openly declare he’d take a drastic pay cut just to sign with the Warriors and only the Warriors and Crawford could – for some divined reason – opt and the team could somehow dump Maggette for nothing and then get the team could get Boozer and
STILL Nelson would either leave Boozer around the three point line or just relegate him in the depth chart behind Stephen Jackson as the starting power forward.

Yep I already looked at this recently.....
But as somone else pointed out to me, much as I would like him here…..he is going to a big team, for BIG BUCKS!
He is solid and solid is a real nice asset to own!
I would love to see Magette become that type of solid player for us, but unfortunately he keeps launching stupid threes!!
I would rather have a player that gives me high percentage “2 point probability” rather than a low percentage “3 point” whore!
Unfortunately, I just dont see us getting him.

I don't exactly how any of this applies to this conversation.

Are you serious...or did you just not bother your a..... to read it
I already did a large view on Boozer druing the Harrington trade discussion so my title above and the first three lines all relate to the subject matter smart ass. i.e Carlos Boozer
I then go on to give my opinion that a player like Boozer who gives high percentage two’s is a better option to have than a 3 point shooter with lower percentage.
Finishing with, “I just dont see us getting him”
So which of all of the above does not apply to this conversation?
