Game #17: Warriors vs. Knicks – Gobble Gobble

Golden State Warriors at New York Knicks, Nov 29, 2008 4:30 PM PST

It's time to try my act ... since the Warriors are unbearable at times!

Warriors (W-L): 5 game losing streak.
Knicks (W-L): 2 game losing streak.
Time: 4:30 PM PST
TV: CSNBA
Radio: KNBR 680

Thanksgiving is a time for sharing and a time for remembering what we all have to be thankful for. It's a time to realize that no matter how hard life can be you'll always have GSoM. That's right. And since we're all experiencing the holiday Turkey hangover and you're mostly with family and friends, I've decided to try my comedic act and see what ya'll think.

Since I'm deciding whether or not to quite my day job and become a comedian, I need to know first if I'm truly funny ... and seeing how the Warriors are on a 5 game losing streak, there's no better time than to introduce Yao's comedic corner. Are you ready?

Star-divide

Gobble Gobble

How's everyone doing tonight? Oh that's great. I love it out here in New York with all the cold and all the mugging. Honestly I do. Where else can you get mugged by a Puerto Rican Snowman? Thank you thank you, I'll be here all night.

And how about those Cleveland Knickerbockers huh? They beat the Warriors last night. You must be pretty excited to get Lebron in two years. I mean talk about all the hoopla. I haven't seen people this excited for one person to come over since the Republican's introduced Sarah Palin to the party. Let's see how that turns out shall we. (Wow, I made a political joke on GSoM. Geez that's as big of a mistake as Sharon Stone discussing politics on the red carpet. Thank you ... I'll be here all night.)

Anyways we've got a great show for you. Two horrible teams face off  in the Garden. What's not to love? I mean you pay $80 for a ticket, $20 for a hot dog and a beer, and the best show on the floor is Spike Lee's wardrobe?  Thank you Thank you I'll be here all night ...

340x_medium

Predictions:

-          Warriors win easily ... thank you!

-          Knicks ask Maubry to play but declines due to his "time of the month" routine.

-          Al Harrington says "playing for the Knicks is a dream come true" then requests a trade.

-          Crawford and Jackson have big nights to make up from last night.

-          CJ Watson retires... oh wait that's my wish sorry!

Enjoy the show

UPDATE: Whoever can post the best joke of the night in comments will get a prize from GSoM! Oh, and please keep them clean! Good luck ...

Let the "sucking" battle begin...

LOL… I typed in We suck... not realizing I made one already for the Dubz and someone up in New York had already made one for The Knicks…!

i don't know if there are any legalities involved

but you should make t-shirts and sell them for every fanbase. they’d probably be hot sellers in OKC & Clipperland. you’ll always have a market b/c there are always bad teams.

by the evil monkey on Nov 29, 2008 12:35 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

you can have them flip inside out from We Believe for the W's ones.

so when we start blowing the game in quarter X, fans can just inside out their shirts to the We Suck version.

by the evil monkey on Nov 29, 2008 12:37 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

We're so inconsistent

fans are going to be flipping their shirts back and forth until they got holes at the end of the game

i guess you haven't noticed CJ's been shooting at a Morrow-like pace these

last few games, but just hasn’t gotten as many looks.

you need a poll option for, i got the jokes, but they were (deliberately?) bad.

I know CJ is playing well ...

but i don’t like the fact that we can’t get anyone better to sub in for. I mean come on … there’s got to be someone else out there who can play instead of CJ.

yeah, no kidding... they all went to Europe?

amazing that we’ve got 5 undrafted players on this roster…1/3 of the team.

I’d say this qualifies as our biggest must-win game of the season to date. We need to salvage one win out of this trip, to stop the bleeding and the gloom. This Knicks team is also a mess… with their injuries, they’ll probably be fielding the weakest lineup we’ve played against all year.

Biedrins, Jack and Maggette had pretty short minutes last night, so let’s hope they come out sharp and we get an easy little win here. With a brutally tough December looming, we need to snag this one.

but dont we want to lose, and badly?

Somethings got to shake up the coaching staff, team, and front office.

Yaobutta,

whats your problem with CJ Watson. I am a big fan of his and am very happy that he is going to be our back up pg behind Ellis.

Ellis to the rim.

+1

He only missed one shot in the last 2 games and made all his free throws. I was pretty iffy about CJ before (okay I’m biased. He took JRich’s number so I hated him for like 2 weeks and never got the full love back hehe) but he’s stepping it up!

"We Suck"

I would really consider buying a We Suck shirt if there were any for sale. I’d wear it to the next Warriors game I go to.

That can be arranged...

How about I throw in a sign… :-)

by Tony.psd on Nov 29, 2008 1:35 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I'd buy one in size L

How much would they cost though?

LOL, a big “We Suck” sign. That would be so hilarious if I were to wave that around during a blowout loss on national television.

getting

a chill in my spine again everytime i see “warriors win….” win waht?

btw

whats the biggest turn around the wrong way for any team? like reverse boston. I mean we have to be up there. We went from pretty decent last year to absolutely disastrous this year.

by saintdee on Nov 29, 2008 2:11 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

We will not finish in the all-time top 200 in this category. The ‘98 Bulls finished 42 games over .500 and 24 below the next year, which was strike-shortened… to match that, we’d need to go 15-67, meaning we’d have to lose 56 of our 66 remaining games. That ain’t happening — we’ll get into the thirties. I’d bet good money we won’t drop nearly as far as we did between ’94 and ’95.

I’m not saying it’ll be fun to watch if we go 35-47, but let’s keep things in perspective. This team will win some games. We’ll be worse than last year, but not by some historical amount. It’ll probably end up being like the Bulls’ drop last year: a team going from kinda good to kinda bad. This happens all the time.

by onlxn on Nov 29, 2008 2:23 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Want to see more of Randolph and Wright in this game.

Maggette at the 4 spot is a disaster. When Wright, Randolph or Turiaf is paired with Biedrins our interior D is so much better. Hopefully Jack decides not to be a blackhole in tonights game.

by houseofprime on Nov 29, 2008 2:16 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Too bad you feel that way

Trade Corey

by sam23 on Nov 29, 2008 3:36 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I'm not saying Maggette needs to be traded.

He just needs to play his natural position to play well.

by houseofprime on Nov 29, 2008 3:46 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I’m sayin it. Corey needs to be traded. His signing was almost as bad as the Derek Fisher signing. A decent player, but he doesnt fit this team well, and he’s certainly not what we need. Trade him before he loses all trade value.

by sam23 on Nov 29, 2008 3:55 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

For sure

Please trade Maggette. He Makes our offense stagnent. That was the worst 32 point 12 Rebound game I’ve ever scene someone play. Down with Maggette!

No hate on Jack, but I’m glad we get to play a game without him. Should be interesting.

by onlxn on Nov 29, 2008 4:15 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Actually, I’m not sure this hurts us one bit. It might hurt a little defensively, but frankly Jack hasn’t been making much of a defensive impact of late.

The likely beneficiaries of Jack’s absence are Watson (increased PG responsibilities), Morrow (likelier to find some minutes at the 2 or 3), Azubuike (might get starters-level minutes) and Wright (basically a lock to take Jack’s spot in the starting lineup). All four of those guys have helped us more than they’ve hurt us this year… Morrow obviously hasn’t done much lately, but he’s still comfortably in the black on the season.

The guys who’ve hurt us the most have been the vets: Jack, Maggette, and in their brief spurts, Al and then Crawford. The young bench has generally helped. We’ll get more young bench in this game, and as a result, I expect we’ll actually play better.

by onlxn on Nov 29, 2008 4:27 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

At the very least, it gives Jack some much needed rest

Maybe it will give him a break. Even he’s admitted before that he’s doing a lot more than he thought he would, and it’s tired him out a bit.

of the Warriors. This can’t be a coaching thing. What’s going on in there?

by IQofaWarrior on Nov 29, 2008 5:41 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

I'd buy that except

Its the coach that should be the motivator, what ever it takes. Has Nelson even been thrown out of a game yet this year? And whats going on in practice, in the locker rooms and during huddles?

lol at the stats...

duhon needs 1 more bucket for a double double
TMNT needs 1 rebound for a double double
David Lee has good stats for a full game… 20 and 10 with 2 steals and a block

i hope we end up winning

… that’d set some kind of record right?

trade for ak47 for defense...

or is he happy being a 6th man in Utah now?

Harrington

Notice how he is making an extra effort to rebound. Wasn’t that Nelli’s beef with him most of the time? He has 9 rebounds at half

FUCK

Al Harrington

He’s not showing heart… he’s showing that he’s taller than Azubuike. Nellie’s coaching this game horribly.

I get ur point

Don’t be down on the roster. The only guy who’s having an actively terrible game is Biedrins… I don’t know what’s going on with that guy. Everybody looks bad defensively, obviously, but there’s a pretty obvious reason why.

This is 100% on Nellie. He’s coaching this game like a fucking idiot. How hard is it to put two bigs in at the same time? For Christ’s sake, AL has nine boards at the half, and Brandan Wright only merits a minute of court time?

We are not a good team, but we can be a lot better than this, if Nellie will play an NBA-sized lineup. Fuck Nellie.

he's trying to do to much

and is way out of his game because of it

by qin on Nov 29, 2008 5:53 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I’d certainly think another big guy out there would help him — it does us no favors that we can’t get a single offensive rebound.

This is maybe the single worst-coached game I’ve ever seen. What is Nellie thinking?

Seems

Biedrins has been scouted. His moves inside usually go to his left. He is being contested on all his shots now. Time for Biedrins to start thinking about moving the ball more. I think

its not just that

hes all alone in there and that’s not his game, other poster are right and he needs to play with Wright and or Randolph

by qin on Nov 29, 2008 5:56 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

agree

would love to see more of Wright and AR in certain matchups with Biedrins.

Agreed. He’s actually looking to pass a bit, to his credit.

Not totally surprising that he’s come down from where he was — I don’t think he’s a 17-15 guy with his current skill set. But we’re not doing him any favors by surrounding him with smalls.

Biedrins took the NBA

by surprise to start the year. Teams are now on to him. Time for him to adjust again. He’s smart and willing. He will be fine.
