Gerald Wallace will be traded
Reports say that Wallace will be traded in the very near future. Would he be a good fit for the dubs? The guy is like a bigger JRich who could be traded for Al and pieces. Would that be something that could benefit the dubs in any way? They have enough swingmen, and Al has been a very valuable player.
Would Wright Turiaf and Biedrins be able to hold it down on the inside? Would Nelly play him at the 4 being so athletic? He played Pietrus at the four and he was 6'6".
I just don't want to see an unhappy Al fail to produce for 20 more games until he realizes he's not going to be traded. This is a very rare opportunity to get a great player. Thoughts?

I'd be all for it if...
the right deal comes around., The guy’s a hell of a player and he would fit well in our system. How bout Harrington, first round pick and Belli. They probably wouldn’t take that though.

They're looking
but that doesn’t mean they’re selling .. it’s going to be a while before there’s real headway here

thanks Pree
what other teams would be looking, and do you think that the Dubs would want to go for him with all of the contracts they already have and will have if Jax gets an extension?

wow
I’d be all for it, he’s crazy athletic.
by semarubaka on Nov 6, 2008 11:03 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
would be a great addition
He’s a pretty good rebounder for his size and a pretty good defender. He’s also not known as a 3pt shooter so one less guy to rain threes. If Bobcats would somehow take Al for him, then it’s a can’t miss deal for us.

AHMAGWAD
can you imagine the dubs with gerald wallace ?!
PG: Monta Ellis / CJ Watson / Nelson
SG: Sjax / Monta / Nelli / Morrow
SF: Corey Maggs / Azubuike / Randolph
PF: Gerald Wallace / Brandan Wright / Hendrix
C: Beans / Ronny

i think wallace would be a great addition to the team. however, i have no idea how the warriors can get him. a third team might need to be involved for it to work. hes also only 26 which is a plus.

Ideal for us...
I think that would be great for us but what would it take to get them to make the deal. It’s easy to say trade Al for Wallace but what kind of sugar will it take to sweeten the deal?
Would Al and a 1st rounder be enough? probably not… How about Al and two 1st rounders? the more it hurts on our end the more likely it might be realistic.
What about Al and Randolph? yeah, that one hurts so we might be getting close… Al, Randolph and a 1st? Could they turn that one down?
I’d love to see what Nellie could do with him on this team. We would be much better this year and next if we do any of those trades. I’d have to seriously consider anything including Al and any player that won’t get consistent minutes this year and draft picks.
Also, I read somewhere that the Bobcats were interested in being involved in a three team trade with the W’s and Knicks where they could end up with Lee. I don’t know if there is anything to that rumor (I don’t even remember where I read it) but that could be another interesting option.

Sorry, Bobcats not interested -- allegedly
by Epicurious Cowboy on Nov 7, 2008 12:19 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah,
That’s actually where I read about them possibly wanting a three way deal with the Knicks.
If the Bobcats have any role in Harrington changing teams, it would likely be as a facilitator in some three-team deal. The Knicks are particularly interested in acquiring Harrington, and you can see how he’d fit in Mke D’Antoni’s uptempo offense.
I was posting in the other thread that Curry to the Bobcats might be a possibility but I’m not sure if they are interested in him or not…

doubt it, since Larry Brown used to coach the Knicks and allegedly wanted to trade all of the key players

but
Curry also had one of his best seasons under him. Lee and Curry maybe, Charlotte could use the size, they could start an athletic 4/5 with Lee and Okafor and bring a fat 4/5 off the bench in May and Curry.

good point. relative to the rest of his career I guess. Still piss poor statistically.

What about Al and Randolph?
That would be a good deal for us if they took it.

Probably
Unless Randolph becomes a crazy hybrid of Scottie Pippen and Chris Bosh. In which case we could all commit kara kiri.
But of course, contrary to the mindset of the typical GSoM trade conjurer, you gotta give to get. Throwing in Rudolf seems like the most realistic way to get Wallace here.
I’m a bit torn: with Maggette in the fold, SF isn’t really a position of need, but Wallace is a dynamite player — cheaper and better all-around than TMNT or JRich. With his athleticism and versatility, he was born to play Nellieball. His contract is a bit long but pretty reasonable (5/just under $50M, including this season) and he’s still young: just 26 as of July. Bringing him here would allow us to let Jack walk at the end of next year, which seems like a much wiser course of action than extending Jack for his age 32-33 season and beyond.
All in all, yeah, if Harrington+Randolph gets it done, I’d probably go for it.
Monta
Buki
Maggette
Wallace
Wright
Turiaf
Biedrins
Makes for a pretty solid young core…

Wallace is frustrating. He will give you glimpses of greatness than will sit out for two weeks with a bad back. Bad backs are contagious, they turn into pains in the ass for those around them. He is a beast on the boards and a hell of a good guy and if there was any remote chance we could get him for Al and a bag of chips, I’d be in. But, no way in hell I’d throw Randolph in for this guy.

I hate being THIS guy
But come on… does anyone not see this obvious trade on the table?
Golden State Gets:
Gerald Wallace
Raymond Felton
New York Gets:
Al Harrington
Marco Belinelli
Charlotte Gets:
Eddy Curry
Marcus Williams
Why it will work: We essentially trade Al and Marco to D’Antoni who would KILL for two guys like this who can score in an up and down situation. Charlotte gets rid of salary they dont like to get Curry on the rental until his salary clears like they want, as well as Marcus till the end of the year, leaving them with some flexibility. The Warriors get a player they can USE in Wallace will sacraficing by taking on Felton’s deal to do it. Wallace is a game changer in a winning situation, and would tear it up in a system like ours. Felton can run a team in the simplest of ways, and we can run Demarcus or CJ as the back up 2 if we want to go with the 2 guard look.
Felton comes off the books at the end of the year and we can turn his 4 mil a year into another big man ini FA this year. Hell.. throw in the 1st rounder, its a weak draft anyway and we don’t play rookies anyway!!!
Man, this “pretend you are the GM” thing is kind of fun. I can see why everyone and their mother likes to do it!

i doubt Larry Brown wants Eddy Curry... remember he wasn't too thrilled to have him when they were both in NY
by the evil monkey on Nov 7, 2008 10:34 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
People are
quick to point out that Curry had some of his best years with Larry Brown. These people are not me, so I cant back it up with stats but I would venture to guess Curry could complete that lineup they have there with a fresh start

throw in Lee to Charlotte for it to have any chance of happening at all. Charlotte is not goint to give up 2 of their 4 best players for our trash + the Knicks mega-trash.

Wallace has many years remaining on his contract. He’s a good player. He could help if used correctly, but he’s not our biggest area of need and if he’s acquired, we have to plan on him being here for a long time.

aw crap. so we're looking at a stopgap PG that's signed for 3 yrs.
hopefully, you mean in a 3 team trade. supposedly, the reports say Al doesn’t want to be a Pacer again, but I guess he doesn’t have much say in the matter.

Like everyone was saying, get David Lee and Eddy Curry to Bobcats, but we send out TMNH, Marcus Williams, and a future protected 1st round draft pick. I don’t think we should give up on Marco yet, I still have hope for him!
Gerald is also kind of expensive too and a long contract…doesnt give us any room to work with in the crazy 2010 offseason. D Wade to the Dubs, anybody? haha, I wish…
