Rowell is ruining the Warriors

Robert Rowell has struck again. His latest move: firing Mully’s right-hand man, Pete D’Alessandro. It’s really unfortunate Rowell is getting so involved with all the basketball decisions. I can’t remember hearing about this guy in the past and all of sudden he’s flexing his power and it’s disappointing. It’s like we had some success and now he wants to be recognized and show people he’s got the power.

Rowell apparently vetoed the deal that would have re-signed Baron, he’s straining the Warriors’ relationship with Monta, forcing Mully out, extending Nellie (which I like, but fear Nellie wants to retire to Hawaii soon anyway), and hopes to extend Captain Jack. I like Captain Jack, but at 30 y/o I don’t think it would be the best move to resign him to a long-term deal.

Mully has made his mistakes in some of the deals he’s made (Dun/Murph, Foyle, Fisher), but let’s not forget that he also brought the most success to the Warriors in a long time with the Baron trade and the Al/Captain Jack trade and the obvious playoff upset over the Mavs. Some of his draft moves have been questionable, but it was also under Mully’s watch when we selected Monta in the second round.

I fear the Warriors are heading down a bad road. Yes, we have intriguing young talent, but we also need to create an identity as an organization – one that regularly goes to the playoffs, has a face to hang our hat for years to come like Mully or hopefully Monta and Biedrins. I don’t like what’s going on in the Warriors front office and I especially don’t like how we never hear from Cohan or Rowell.

It’s as though the Warriors front office is content with being a sub-par NBA team. I don’t see a commitment to winning with this organization and it’s totally frustrating. I love the Dubs, but just want to see progress, commitment, a winning culture, stability in the front office, and maybe even the playoffs for a few years in a row. We we’re almost there the last few seasons, but we need to be a team that can contend to make the playoffs regularly.

I agree with your post.

And I have the same frustrations with the front office. The question is, how do we get rid of these Janks?

Maybe you should take over the front office, GoldenStateDubtronic.

Agree with the first comment

What, if anything, can fans do? It’s such a helpless feeling sitting back and watching your team being destroyed from the inside like this.

Yup

Chris Mullin is the solution, not the problem. If Mullin goes next we are in for a long ride. Impeach Rowell

We need stability, not more uncertainty!

There are so many things up in the air right now for the Dubbs. (Al’s trade, Monta’s moped drama, Capt Jacks contract extension.) Hell, we don’t even have a mascot. The last thing we need is to have the owners trying to get rid of Mully. Come on now!

by Jdubb on Nov 7, 2008 10:56 AM PST reply actions

How about...

Ronnie Lott and Brent Jones combine their billion dollar savings and take over the Warriors? Ronnie Lott seems to be really passionate about the Dubs and I think he is good friends with Chris Mullin.

Then he can take over the 49ers next.

do you even understand marathe job?

or are you just listening to what the troll barberi says.

Marathe is the salary cap man for the 49ers. Say what you want for the guys that have been signed(that’s not his job), his job is to sign them cap friendly deals, which he’s done. The 49ers are going to have about 25-30 million dollars in cap room this offseason(thats not including the cutting of alex smith, jennings and others). I know this is OT but it’s just a pet peeve of mine when people hate on something/somebody when they don’t have to the proper knowledge.

XOHennessyXO: AKA Chris Cohan family member or Cohan himself

You’re an idiot for thinking Cohan will do anything to help this team.

Straight of Wikipedia my friend:
"Cohan’s tenure as owner of the Warriors has been highlighted with the longest playoff drought of any team in NBA history. From 1994 to 2007, the Warriors did not make the playoffs under Cohan. Under Cohan, the team has had nine head coaches and did not have a winning season until the 2006-2007 season, after Cohan rehired Don Nelson as head coach. "

Cohan rehired Don Nelson….only because Mully suggested it. You must recall the Cohan and Nellie beef, so Cohan and Rowell did not think of this bright idea, it was Mully.

Speaking of XO Hennessy...

I’m looking to get a nice bottle of good Cognac. I’m pretty much decided on Remy… but welcome any suggestions. I’ll be going through Duty Free (Whoo!!!) and the selection will be pretty wide.

I hate Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, and Russel Peters because they make fun of white people like me. They also make fun of other kinds of people, which hurts me deep down because my ancestry is so mixed that I don't know what my official "race" is... so I get offended for all races!

XOHennessyXO...Maybe you're right

I remember this summer, there was a post titled something to the terms of “Fire Mullin”. Can we dig that up somewhere??? I can’t remember who posted it, but I read it and there were a lot of people agreeing. Now that it may happen, all of a sudden everyone thinks Rowell’s ruining the team. We all know that the Warriors finally got to the playoffs after Nellie came…so I think so far, Rowell’s made the most important and best move for the Warriors…by giving Nellie the extension.

by heybaybay on Nov 7, 2008 3:01 PM PST reply actions

Rowell Pushing Mully out

Rowell is just power triping…he has over ruled Mully on several matters (BD) and clearly thinks that Nellie is the guy to fix the Warriors not Mully. He put Nellie’s right hand man in there to replace Mullys right hand man. I think that Monte’s injury and Al’s complainging have only made things worse. PLUS Rowell will take most of the flack and not COHN if all fails

by GoldenWarrior988 on Nov 8, 2008 9:00 AM PST reply actions

Does anybody

know the email address to David Stern’s offices? If Rowell does in fact decide to fire Mullin, I would urge every GSoMer and then some to write to Stern, urging him to reinstate Chris Mullin and put “Bobby” Rowell on his ass. How do you think the commissioner would respond to hundreds of emails from “the best fans in the NBA” flooding his mail with shouts for help against this scum? I love Mully and I love my team. I am a true fan who has followed this team through the dark trenches of despair, praying for that one who would give us a face, some kind of identity. Do away with these false prophets promising us “entertainment” and great nights out, while they cut the fans back pocket with a razor blade. We need one of OUR OWN. Mullin is the man. He will save us and lead us for years to come.

Yes, again, he’s made bad decisions early in his tenure, he approached the job as a player/GM, with his heart on his sleeve trying to be a trusted friend more than the boss of the team. But I’ve agreed more than I’ve disagreed with his decisions, and the denial of Baron Davis for 3 more years from Rowell has poorly effected this team’s potential.

As somebody mentioned earlier, it appears that Rowell is only interested in “beating out” Warriors players in negotiations so he can bathe in his excess. PLEASE DO NOT let this man ruin our team. It is our responsibility as Warriors fans, yours and mines, to protect our own and fend the lions away from the flock. We owe it to Chris, we need to have his back now, because we are the Warriors. The team is nothing without its fans. I will take a stand and boycott the team if Rowell remains president, and Mullin finds himself unemployed. I won’t throw a penny his way, I trust you will do the same if you really care about the team. I wish it didn’t have to come to this. It makes me sick thinking about it.
