Would you want another team in the Bay Area?

Could we, would we have another basketball team in the Bay?

Star-divide

Rick Bonnell: Thoughts on Bobcats' future in Charlotte

Where would you move an NBA team right now that would guarantee profitability? Oklahoma City is gone as an option and the league obviously has sports-book misgivings about moving to Las Vegas. Kansas City has a new arena but it's doubtful that market can support three major-league teams.

So, would any Warrior fans welcome another NBA team to the Bay Area, probably in San Francisco or San Jose?  Would you adopt a new team if the the W's continued to stink, the new team played well and/or the new team was closer to you than Oakland?  Is it even realistic with the W's and Kings just in Sacramento?

The Bay Area does have two MLB and NFL franchises, could we also support two NBA franchises?

We don't need anymore teams

We already split the market enough with duplicate baseball and football teams. The Warriors are great that they are something that all bay area sports cans can come together on. It is actually kinda nice that way.

I

I wouldn’t mind. Can’t get too much basketball.

No

Think how great it would be without the Giants.

ha but in all honesty… look at a’s and giants or raiders and niners…. each time 1 team doesnt sell out fully or both r effected. Bay area fans r a bit fickle…. also its not like the arena sold out nonstop till we believe started

I'll take 'em

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll always be a Dubs fan first. But if you put a team in San Jose I’m going to go see some games and watch them on tv.

And half of GSoM would get their wish… J-Rich back in the bay!

But it won’t happen.

an NBA team in San Jose would be great

San Jose Sabercats = successful

San Jose Sharks = successful

anybody remember the San Jose Jammers???

as a kid, i attended a few Jammer games and they were pretty good. seems like any team that plays in the San Jose arena would do big things.

Earthquakes?

I admit soccer isnt a huge sport in this county, but we have a lot of residents who grew up playing soccer in other countries who should have supported this team in addition to the average americans who are becoming interested in soccer.

I just dont think san jose can support another team.

The Sabercats are a low budget deal so success is easier to achieve. The Sharks are the only hockey team for 800 miles and hickey is still a major sport in this country.

Another NBA team? too much

by HoLdEmUP on Dec 10, 2008 1:38 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Nope

I live in San Jose, I am not down for a team here. The reason we can have two teams in baseball and football is becasue they are each in two different conferences. We would have two bay area team in the same division, that would be hella lame. The Giants and A’s or Niners and Raiders have so much support because of the fans that cheer for both, people wouldn’t be cheering for both when they are in the same division. I’m against the bay divide!

Plus there is already a team in Sacramento

LA has two teams...

so yes! please let this happen! please let another team come so i have a new Bay Area basketball squad to support. not these wretched pathetic Warrior teams that will stay in limbo for an eternity! No 1st round picks forever, and no playoffs forever.. worst of both worlds.. i’m sure Thunder fans are looking forward to the NBA draft this summer!

Foster City Bobcats

or rename them the Foster City Sea Gulls

Dude

Keep in mind, LA is 2.5 times bigger than the Bay. We are not a big market. The Kings nearby already depletes from what should be our fanbase. Oh and by the way, I don’t know if you know this, but NOBODY likes the Clips in LA! Maybe here and there, but when your in LA and your biggest celeb fan is Billy Crystal, you know something is wrong!

Rooting From

I grew up in the southeast part of the Bay Area, but I now live in northern California. I still support the Warriors, as well as the Raiders and the A’s.

It’s different on the poll, though.

Probably not realistic

With the Warriors AND the Kings pretty close to one another.

I would also love to have a team move here to St. Louis, where I’m following from, but I’d be in quite a loyalty pickle ha

screw that

I get sick of A’s/Giants and Raiders/Niners arguments. The Warriors fanbase in the Bay Area is already a little shaky as it is (even though their fans can be loud as hell); it would be even worse to have TWO basketball teams with a bunch of bandwagon fans. Besides, the people in the Bay Area who don’t like the Warriors can happily join the Lakers bandwagon anyways (which happens all the time).

This topic also came up last year when I heard about the Sonics moving their franchise. San Francisco Supersonics? Thank god it didn’t happen.

How about

the San Jose Lakers? I’d be cool with that. But if not, even if a team like the Clippers moved here. What would be great would be an expansion team over here in San Jose.

YOU FAIL

Seattle Supersonics

I was actually excited when there were rumors that the sonics would move to san jose…san jose supersonics…sweet

If there were another bay area team...

I would support them. But I would not wish for it to happen. And I would be a warriors fan first and foremost, even if they won the championship and the warriors stunk.

I’d also have welcomed Charlotte’s move to the Bay Area more if they hadn’t just traded JRich….

I

find the kings as our 2nd team. they are really not that far. they are closer to us than San Diego is to LA.

So I don't have a signature well these words would do! Who knew that upgrades can have downgrades too!

well

the bay area doesn’t really need a second team as much as say, seattle deserves to get a team back. if it came down to the bobcats (or whoever) deciding to move to the bay or to seattle, they better go to seattle.

heart of a champion, will of the warrior.

Why

would we want the Bobcats? J-Rich is gone and G-Wallace probably will be gone soon too, so why would we want a team that is practically going to be D-League caliber after they unload their solid players.

by duballers23 on Dec 11, 2008 5:58 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Whos their star player

going to be, Emeka Okafor? That would be really exciting, not. The only way that I would want them to come to the Bay Area is if they pick up a top notch caliber free agent in 2010, which won’y happen.

by duballers23 on Dec 11, 2008 6:01 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Another team?

I’d rather see a minor league team in SanHo or maybe Salinas, etc. sorta like the baseball Sacto River Cats . I’d love to be able to go to lots of cheap games an it would be a great place to watch prospective NBA players learn the ropes.

haha

my first reaction to the title … was YEAH IF THEY CAN WIN! because we have such a shortage of winning teams in the bay right now but when it comes down to it, the A’s – Giants and Raiders – niners rivalries get kinda old and divide us while the entire Bay can rally behind a team like the dub thus we are all united. Idk i like it how it is. Plus I never really like it when teams move because they leave behind sad fans.

i’d take a san jose bball team.
