New Blog: Anonymous Eagle covering Marquette!

Melo's historic 33 in the 3rd tonight is simply an amazing feat even if it's against the Timberkittens. It's worth noting that Carmelo's got a great chance to break that record this upcoming Saturday in Denver against you-know-who.

You say ridiculously negative things like this, coming off of a game where we could have crapped the bed, but instead played one of our best defensive quarters of the year. That’s not what has me choked though, what has me choked is that you get offended when people question your fandom.

As if fans think this way about their favorite team. When are you going to just admit that you aren’t a fan anymore. You’re a critic. You say what you want to say, without recognizing that it has a legitimate effect on the fans and non fans who browse this site. You, who once triumphed the Warriors fan base, are a cancer inside of it. Trying to train those who choose to remain hopefuls in to negative crybabies.

Um

I think you’re missing the humor. That’s what got us through pre-We Believe at GSoM, GSW BLOG, and being a Warriors fan for well over a decade and a half. This ain’t nothing new here.

I think my favorite hoops team sucks. We’ve been joking about this team for years. They’re a joke and it’s a joke that we all still root for them night in and night out. Can’t say that it isn’t funny and entertaining most of the time though.

I don’t get offended when people question my fandom or demand me to write homerish stuff to please them one bit. I just think it’s silly.

homerism/negative

same thing, just a different end of the spectrum.

Neither involve any real analysis or without bias.

Oh really?

I thought jokes were supposed to be funny. My bad. Forgot about that one.

We’ve been joking about this team for years.

Except for that nice 2007 run…then BANG blow it up again.

Belinelli

will shut him down!

by lightz0ut on Dec 10, 2008 11:25 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

SJax

shut Melo down the last time we played them from what I remember. Hopefully his hand doesn’t get even more messed up between now and then. Melo won’t even get 30 for the game. I think we should be ok.

by bogeydead4 on Dec 10, 2008 11:26 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

OMG

anyway Melo will never win championship -one of the worst team players ever

sometimes people don’t want to talk hoops, they just come here to act a fool.

by Lat We N Trash on Dec 10, 2008 11:27 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

hey! can’t say never. in 10 or 12 years he could ride some other guy’s coattails to a championship ala Gary Payton & Zo w/ the Heat.

Huh?

It always cracks me up when Warriors fans try to diss another player or team for not winning a championship.

by Atma Brother ONE on Dec 10, 2008 11:38 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

really?

Because I do believe we’re one of nine NBA franchises that can say they’ve won multiple championships.

cool to know

that something cracks you up

actually i will never understand people who are fans of selfish players (no matter how skilled those players are) -Carmelo doesn’t make his team better (considering his salary) -basketball is a team game

sometimes people don’t want to talk hoops, they just come here to act a fool.

and you don't have to be a fan of the celtics/lakers/bulls/spurs to realize that

that would be like saying, you need to be an NBA player to criticize one.

This is an NBA blog and that was a historic event. We’re hoops junkies not just Warriors fans although this had a funny connection to the Dubs. It’s on here because one of the writers of the site wanted to put it up. Thanks for volunteering to be an editor- but uh, no thanks.

by Atma Brother ONE on Dec 11, 2008 9:03 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Reallyw anna put it into context and really make it relevant then

how about sarting dialogue about what was more impressive …Melos 33 against a no defense team or Sleepy Floyd 29 in a quarter against the Lakers in the playoffs. Now thats worthy of this blog and discussion.

by smearthebeard on Dec 11, 2008 9:06 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

he might not get that for the game

well….. maybe if Maggette is back by then (and is guarding him in a scenario where Jack can’t go).

I respect you but you've changed

Atma Brother ONE was always about the joking

Let’s just say… we’re all About the jokes! (sorry bad joke)

Except it went from joking about Dunleavy to joking about the Warriors as a whole.

Atma, I appreciate what you’ve done for GSoM, but lately your more like a Troll than a moderator. Its kind of been like this since that one guy outed you for being a Knicks fan. Of course it was hard to be a Warriors fan, I’ve been a teased but its not like I go from defending the Warriors to making fun of them. Do you still get happy when the Warriors win (7 times so far) or do you not care anymore? You went from being a moderator on Golden State Warriors BLOG to being a moderator on SB Nation.

You helped Golden State of Mind become what it is today, but all your recent pessimism (even after a warriors blow out win) makes people question your fandom. When you announced We Believe is Dead It seems like your love for the Warriors died too.

My 1065th post on GSoM is my last.

Maybe your 1065th post should have been your last.

If I am wrong i will respond with a D'Oh

lol

Not that I don’t enjoy your posts sometimes Atma, but it seems like you posted a lot more after you said you were stepping down as the moderator.

by dajrichshow on Dec 11, 2008 12:32 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I respect your thoughts

But I disagree. I hold the minority opinion. I don’t rant about Nellie, Maggette, or how Wright/ Bellinelli don’t get playing time. If I did so maybe folks would be happy about what you call my pessimism. I hold a lot of alternative views that a lot don’t agree with. Believe me I’ve taken enough personal shots over the years (i.e. the personal, racist, and ignorant attacks that you curiously left out from the guy who supposedly “outed” me) for holding them. It doesn’t bother me that people disagree as long as the discussion is good and done in a constructive manner which as we’ve grown as a community seems to be a little harder.

Look back through the archive’s we’ve always clowned this team. Not just the Funleavy Foto Fun. Take a look at our draft reviews for example. Or the Missing Signatures or the Sell the Warriors campaign. This ain’t nothing new. Maybe for the folks who jumped on during 07-08, but not for those of you who’ve been with us the whole time. What did you expect? This is an unprofessional losing organization that has captivated the best fanbase in the NBA.

You went from being a moderator on Golden State Warriors BLOG to being a moderator on SB Nation.

Well we’re writers, not moderators. We’ve been forced to moderate some of the filth on this site from a select minority of spammers simply because we want to keep this a high quality family show.

I’m not sure what going from GSW BLOG to SB Nation has to do with anything. Please explain.

You know I hear from folks all the time that GSoM is filled with a bunch of “ra-ra” “let’s go warriors!” blind homers. There’s a lot of truth to that. It’s annoying that some people here think there’s only one kind of fan is acceptable.

I tell it like I see it regardless of whether it’s good or bad. I’m just being honest and trying to keep myself and other folks entertained.

by Atma Brother ONE on Dec 11, 2008 8:49 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

You tell it like you see it? So what do you see after we won two in a row? How about occasionally throwing

the team a bone. If I didn;t know better your really Tim kawakami in sheeps clothing. Tim has become a complete joke and is doing a bad skip Bayless imitation. What is your excuse?

by smearthebeard on Dec 11, 2008 9:01 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

What I meant about GSW Blog to SB Nation

Was maybe after going to SB nation GSoM became a job rather than something you simply enjoyed doing.

But wow, your response just flipped flopped what I thought about you. I originally thought you were a fan who enjoyed poking fun at some of the Warriors players. Than the Warriors went to the playoffs and everyone was having “A Great Time Out.” But since Baron left it seemed like you didn’t care. But now I see you are the same person; it is just that everyone expects their fellow Warrior fans to blindly follow the warriors like sheep in a herd.

i.e. the personal, racist, and ignorant attacks that you curiously left out from the guy who supposedly "outed" me

I could not find the link, but had I remembered all of the things said in that fanpost I certainly would not have mentioned it. I do remember that guy exposing himself to be the reason for OZ’s banning.

My only issue with you Atma was I assumed you would be happy after this win, maybe you are I cannot tell from behind a computer screen.

That is like a Morrow scoring 37 points in his first start than telling everyone else Melo went for 44. Just had to ruin the moment.

I do remember that guy exposing himself to be the reason for OZ’s banning.

That’s entirely false. As we’ve noted several times that guy had nothing to do with OZ. This is how rumors get started.

My only issue with you Atma was I assumed you would be happy after this win, maybe you are I cannot tell from behind a computer screen.

Oh I enjoyed the win, but I always look at the aggregate. This team is still headed towards the lottery. They’re still owned and run by some truly incompetent and classless people.

Case in point- folks going nuts over Marco’s past two games. Calm down ya’ll. His entire body of work in the Euro-leagues and the NBA suggest he shouldn’t even be in this league.

That is like a Morrow scoring 37 points in his first start than telling everyone else Melo went for 44. Just had to ruin the moment.

Well I threw up Nellie’s hype quotes for Morrow and Crawford after the trade. They got a tiny amount of comments. No one seemed to care. They only seem to care when they see they have an opportunity to take baseless personal shots. What can we do?

smearthebeard- to be compared to my friend Tim who is much wiser and sharper than me is an honor. I will never forgot talking about KG to the Warriors with him during a Xmas FSN Bay Area party last year- wildly entertaining. I just hope our commenters don’t get as bad as his- some real deal losers over there.

Thats all I wanted to know.

I think too many people share similar ideas/opinions. Without conflicting views I think people get bored and since you tend to have different ideas/opinions people may want to take shots at you. This website has fairweather opinions. If Marco is playing like crap people will say oh Marco sucks and when he starts playing well they go nuts. If someone said that when it came to the Warriors as a whole they would be bandwagon fans. Is there a word for people who are bandwagon fans when it comes to players?

Well I took a shot at you and come to learn that I was wrong. For the sake of talking I would like to say I think Marcus Williams is better than people think.

To 003MorrowNeverDies

How can you say Atma isn’t a fan? Is the only definition of a fan one who provides blind support for his team and doesn’t realize where it actually stands? Can’t a fan be critical of his team? Least of all, joke about it?

The way I think of it, your team is like your circle best friends. You can make fun of them all you want, but if anyone outside your circle badmouths, then you take it serious. Atma is just providing humor (and a bit of truth) that to me only displays the strength of his fandom. Just because Atma recognizes that an era has ended, or that our defense sucks (which, if you didn’t know, does) doesn’t mean he is any less of a fan. It just means that actually watches games…haha.

Atma, don’t listen to this fool – I’ve been a fan since before the DunMurphy era and I always support the Dubs regardless of their record. I want a “We Suck” shirt too!

by Debo24 on Dec 11, 2008 2:38 AM PST reply actions   1 recs

Blind support is one thing. But being negative and continuosly spewing negativity even after winning 2 in a row is a complete joke

We already have the Saintdees and skeptics tearing apart the team which is fine. They are fans and posters and have every right to do this. We don;t need the head of this blog tearing the team apart with a hidden agenda.

Yeah, Those guys give Skeptics a bad name. The only good skeptic is a homer bandwagoner skeptic.
Getting too excited over a 2 game winning streak over the Okla nobodies and the Milw. brewcrew is a joke too isn’t it? Especially if we got guys throwing up prayers from behind the backboard?

Ooooh that sounds exciting. What is this hidden agenda? Or maybe you don’t know because it’s hidden.

Hey Atma, can you unhide your hidden agenda?

Or maybe, it doesn’t exist. Hmmmm.

by Fantasy Junkie on Dec 11, 2008 1:24 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Actually

Since you’re the head editor potna, I was gonna ask you what’s the agenda. Sorta like Tribe’s- “What’s the scenario?”

Haha if anyone’s agenda is hidden it sure ain’t me. I don’t have much of a filter in what I think/ write as you have all seen over the years. My agenda (if I have one) is fairly transparent- make a ton of (bad) jokes without having to resort to a potty mouth and have a good time.

Fan Posts

They’re free to use. Go ahead and use the fan posts for your positivity after winning 2 in a row. If you feel something is missing from the front page posts that you feel is worthy of writing about, then by all means, write up your thoughts in a fan post. Take a little, give a little. Reciprocation baby!

Mello is an example of why some people don’t watch the NBA anymore. He is a piece of turd.

I’m waiting for Atma to go bazonkers here preatty soon considering how many people are poking and prodding him.
