Just a few thoughts on the current state of our team and where we might be heading soon...
-I've been complaining about Jackson all season and every time I do I always get a hundred comments back saying how good Jackson is and he is the heart of our team. Well, if he is our "heart" then our team must have none. Why on earth is Jackson Nellie's "guy"? He simply isn't good enough to be the "guy". It's like he forgot how to shoot, rotate on offense and defense or play fundemental basketball now that the true heart of our team is gone (that's BD if you didn't already know. lol). As much as people bitch about Corey I would personally get ride of Jackson before him. I think Jackson is a cancer and with all this loosing he will snap soon. This is going to be interesting.
-I'm curious why Crawford isn't fitting into our system better? With Monta out he definitely has the most pure talent on our team. And I'll argue that point to anyone that can argue otherwise, but for now I'll just leave it as my opinion. I think with Jackson handling the ball so often, Jamal is kinda left in purgatory. He's having trouble meshing well with the over-dominance of Jackson. I think he is talented enough to figure it out and once Monta comes back they will truley be able to run. I think they will have good chemistry eventually because Crawford is without a doubt the best passer on our team. I think he'll surprise us as soon as Jackson stops being the "guy". And that lead me to my next point/arguemant.
-WTF Nellie? That's what I would love to scream at the guy. I think he is the BIGGEST problem with the Warriors right now. I know his past so please don't bring up what he did before because with life, and in sports especially, it's a "what have you done for me lately world" and Nellie hasn't done s*!t for the Warriors lately. Maybe he's too confident because of his new contract and he's lost the love of the game. I think he would much rather be on a beach in Hawaii (wouldn't we all). All he wants is the money now and he's waiting to get fired so he still collects his cash. I know it's a conspiracy theory, but why the hell else would he be doing some of ridiculous things he is? He allows the team to do whatever they please without any discipline. Seems like the only two people he does discipline are Wright and Randolph. And that's only because they are the youngest players. The team doesn't rebound, box, rotate or quite simpily play with any desire or fundamentals. There are so many problem with the Warriors and none of them have been corrected through out the first 25 games. They shouldn't be making the same mistakes as they did in game one of the season. And that my friends falls strikly on the shoulders of our past-his-prime coach. He had one last gusto in 2007, but the man is done.
-Hey I'm just hoping we get Blake Griffin in the next draft. Just another lost year in Warriors world. Too bad, but it was fun while it lasted.

What really really sucks
Is that Monte is gonna come back, and Maggette will come back, and we’ll have a full squad. We’ll win many more games with Ellis, but it still won’t be close to enough (and way too late IMO), and we’ll be stuck in the fu*king middle again with the last lottery pick instead of a really high pick with a chance to get a really good player.

sounds about right
"If you hit .440 with 20 bombs, you don't have to do s---. You don't have to bring a glove to practice, just hit and leave whenever you want. You can bring a 40 and smoke a cigarette and call me from the parking lot asking me what time the game is, and I'll tell you. You can even say 'F--- you, Steve!' Actually, don't say that, that wouldn't be very nice." -Steve Friend, Head Coach, Chabot College Gladiators Baseball
if only we can get rid of Maggette
and play Randolph instead

Did you notice....
The game that Jackson missed, how well Crawford and the youngsters moved the ball around. For the only time this season they looked like a well drilled unit and they played well, I think it was a game we won?
There is no doubt, much as I like Capn Jack and think the work he does off the court is truly superb, right now things are just not wrking with him playing 40 mins a game. he needs to become a bench player to come on fresh and get that shot back… that means sitting him for a while, to practice and get the shot back, then bring him in to add a threat that the other team has to adjust to….
But wait, what am I saying, that would require a coach to realise that a player just isnt cutting it and therefore make a suitable change! Which is not going to happen with Nellie.
It's about heart, It's about fight, It's about being a Warrior!
tonight jackson was a ballstopper..
on offense lmao!
he is not a star player, he needs to be open for a shot and then get the ball passed to him. he can also post up on smaller players. he can barely take marcin gortat off the dribble, he’s lucky he got that foul called tonight.
that being said, i love jack and dont want him to go, we just need BETTER players. jamal is good he just looks really really timid right now. the man has handles tho.
The two worst moves
Were
1. Re-signing Jax to an extension….2 years early! Congrats Rowell, you failed yet again. And look at a calender every once in awhile!
2. Of course, the Maggette signing. 5/50 MM when no other teams were going to bid that much?! He was looking at the full MLE…if that! This is one of those “OMG that was dumb” that us Warrior fans seem to yell out year after year…after year.
Where do we go from here?
1. Commit to developing the young guys. They are the best bet for future success. That means having a healthy Monta Ellis. Biedrins, Wright, Randolph…and dare i say Belinelli…need to all get time on the court or else this will be another year wasted in development time.
2. I would trade Marcus Williams and Kelenna Azuibuike. Separately or together. With reports coming out that Chicago may be willing to deal , I would like to see the Warriors make a Kelenna for Thabo Sefolasha swap. This guy is a potential defensive stopper. I haven’t watched him too much, but i always feel like he hasn’t really gotten the time on the court under Skiles and now Del Negro.
The second trade would be sending Marcus Williams to Orlando for their 2010 2nd round pick. It’s not much, but we won’t get much. Plus Orlando looks to fill their backup PG position…cause Anthony Johnson and his 36 FG% is down right nasty.
This clears up a roster spot for when Monta Ellis returns (Although in reality i think we’d just go ahead and cut DeMarcus Nelson).
3. Warriors will probably end up picking 7-10 in next years lottery, barring any unforseen surge late in the season when the schedule lightens up. This means no Rubio (most likely to declare in 2010 anyway) or Blake Griffin. This is a bad year to have a high lottery pick outside of number 1. Griffin and Rubio seem to be safest bets for future NBA stardom. The freshman class has definitely underperformed (compared to the class of 06 and 07) thus far. None of Tyreke Evans, Greg Monroe, BJ Mullens, Jrue Holliday, Demar DeRozen, or Al Farouq-Aminu have set the NCAA on fire yet. It’s too early to tell where the chips may fall. But our two biggest weaknesses are Point Guard, Power Forward…and oh yea…Point Guard. If no player left on the board when GSW is picking then obviously go with BPA.
For the sake of this mock armchair GM post, i’d say at the #7 overall pick in this year’s draft, we’d have to look for a PG. We all see how much we miss a talented PG on this roster marked with holes. In this scenario look for a selection of the best player out of Brandon Jennings, Jrue Holliday or my current favorite: James Harden.
Draft night should not end there however as we’ve seen a trend for teams purchasing draft picks in the late first or early second rounds. We need to take a page out of Kevin Pritchard and Sam Presti’s book and gain assets. Dish out the $3MM or so and get back into the late first round and draft an underrated player or draft sleeper. What i would love to see is the Warriors obtaining an early 2nd round pick to select Nando De Colo from France or Victor Claver from Spain. Stash these guys in Europe until their contracts run out or their buyouts come down in price. These two are intriguing prospects that could develop into something down the road.
4. Convince one of Jack/Maggette/Crawford that being a super sub is a great role for them. If you look at when Monta comes back there may be a shortage of minutes to go around for these 3 guys. The way I see it…Maggette needs to be the 6th man in a Manu sort of way. He’ll still get to play his 30 minutes a game. The way i see it, Maggette and Ellis’ game styles are too similar to see the court at the same time for a majority of the minutes. With a starting lineup of Crawford, Monta, Jack, Wright and Biedrins…this reduces redundancy. With Maggette with the second team, he can be the man on offense. This could save Jack from burning out also down the road. CJ Watson does not have a contract that extends beyond this year. I would not resign him seeing as how we already have a lot of similar players, and he is not a playmaker. I don’t imagine DeMarcus Nelson staying with the team much longer either. So barring any other offseason trade our roster looks like this:
1. Crawford/Jennings
2. Ellis/Belinelli/Sefolasha
3. Jack/Maggette/Morrow
4. Wright/Randolph/Kurz
5. Biedrins/Turiaf/Hendrix
In Europe we’d also have a De Colo/Claver waiting in the wings.
Not the best or most wildly fantastic Mock GM. But these are the types of moves i’d like to see happening. Of course if we could unload Maggette for someone of use, but until i see it, i won’t get my hopes up.
Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.
we should combine marcus and someone and try to 2 for 1 for an average player
so we dont have to drop someone. although demarcus wouldnt be a huge loss. we definitely were 5-6 with him on the team.
Even hurt and out of position, Maggette’s played better than Crawford. Maggette’s been better defensively than Crawford. Crawford makes more money per year than Maggette. Maggette’s a guy we signed in a narrow window when we could spend… Crawford’s what we got with one of our best trade chits. How on earth is the Maggette signing worse than the Crawford trade?
We overpaid a bit for Maggette. He was absolutely going to get the full MLE from several teams, probably for four or five years, so we did have to exceed that by a bit. But it’s hard to believe that $40M over 4 wouldn’t have gotten it done. This was another example of the Warriors front office overspending when they didn’t have to.
It’s still not nearly as bad as the Crawford trade. One of our two best players is a scorer who we hope can play the point… why the hell did we bring in a vastly worse version of that guy? It’s not like Crawford’s any purer of a point guard than Monta…. Crawford can’t run an offense either. Why’d we add a middling player to the area where we’re the deepest? I at least understand that Maggette gives us: high-efficiency scoring and a boatload of free throws for everybody. What does Crawford actually contribute, other than some pretty dribbling?
There’s no reason to be excited about the Maggette signing so far, but there’s no reason to identify it as the problem, either. Let the guy play his natural position before we label him the Antichrist. We have bigger problems.
if only management could stop making moves just to make moves
no contract for maggette,
no trade for marcus williams,
no extension for jack,
no trade for crawford.
no azubuike?
heading into ‘09-’10,
(1)we’d of had a good cap situation and, providing Al opted out, been (i read) 1 of 6 teams able to offer a $10 million or more contract to a FA (pistons, portland, memphis, okc, atlanta). provided Okur opts out of the $9 mill he’s due to receive next season (likely), who wouldn’t want a pressure tested (won championship w/ the Pistons as a role player) big man shooter who played decent d against Yao in 06-07 when Utah beat the Rockets in 7 games?
okur, AB w/ wright & turiaf backing them up and kurz, AR available in case of injury?
(2)had a relatively high lottery pick with which to either trade for or possibly draft a good player.

Blake Griffin
I didnt think anyone would have the jeuvos to talk about lottery since there seems to be a swarm of converted Los Angeles fans in here demanding trades, firing coaches and immediate run at the playoffs/championship with the youngest team in the NBA.
Blake Griffin would be pretty cool, but he has to show me some skillz against bigger people. Michael Beasly put up WAY better numbers last year in the Big 12, and he is NO WHERE NEAR as dominant in the NBA, because he cant bully anyone.
Can Blake shoot 3s? Cause Beas can, and he cant pump fake anyone. Except Andris lol
They are also two different players. Beasley’s more of a combo forward—with a slight pull in the SF direction. Griffin on the other hand is a straight PF.
Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.
i don’t know, most of his highlights are just him dunking after someone makes a good pass to him. the rest consist of drives to the hoop for dunks.
in college, Beasley was listed at 6’10", 235. he measured at 6’7" w/o shoes (6’8.25" with and 239.
is griffin really 6’10"?? (also he’s listed at 239 on draftexpress). the biggest difference for college guys (as Beasley, Love & Oden are finding out) is the size, quickness, and athleticism of the big guys in the nba.
in this youtube clip vs #30, joseph jones, formerly of texas a&m, Griffin looks smaller than him. especially, when jones posts griffin up. jones measured in at 6’7.5" w/o shoes 6’8.5" w/ shoes and at 241 pounds at last season’s combine.
if Griffin is only 6’7"/6’8", 230-240; he’s going to have difficulty at PF in the NBA. you can point to Boozer (6’7.75"/6’8.5") and Jefferson (6’8.5"/6’9.75"), but Boozer came in weighing 258 and Jeff was 263. Griffin’s still the consensus #1, but there are some signs he’s going to have problems scoring inside similar to Beasley. anyway, if nothing else, it’s something to look out for.

The jury is still out.
Height is not as important as other physical attributes. Height is not as important as some might think. A player may have an exceptionally long neck—and that won’t help much in a game. What is most important as far as physical attributes is wingspan and standing reach.
We haven’t seen Blake Griffin at the combine yet so we don’t know his wingspan or standing reach or vertical. If he tests out at 6’8.75’’ without shoes and an above average wingspan (7’2’’ or so) with a standing reach of 9’0’’. These measurements are on par with Brandan Wright, Al Horford and Amare Stoudamire.
Warriors, Stupidest franchise in the league.
Height is very important
Greg Oden is playing REALLY well against smaller guys, when he comes up against someone his size, he struggles.
Blake Griffin is not a VERY good shooter, so that means his points will have to come inside with rebounding etc.. and he will have to turn around and defend guys like Amare who is 3 inches taller and 10 lbs heavier.
See where I’m headed?
Just because ESPN.com says he is #1, doesnt make him #1. Where was Brandon Roy ranked? Martell Webster?
I dont have to go down the list to show you that much like the D-League, college play does NOT translate into NBA play.
where we might be heading soon...??
Won’t be oklahoma, that train has left the station. Missouri?
