I think I know why we are losing and it don't look good

Ok so I was on youtube checking stuff on the NBA than I stumbled upon this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qV4QLK0HnOc&feature=channel_page

Basically Key arena was renovated for the Sonics and they said it looked really nice and great. Fast forward to 2007-2008 the place turns to a hell hole that nobody wanted to go to with a horrible team, all done in order to move the team since they had an excuse.

Why I say this so Oracle Arena was not new it was renovated yes I know they were built much differently and Key Arena was done in a much cheaper way than Oracle was but for some reason the facts of both are adding up. If the Warriors really wanted to win and stay Rowell and Cohen would of done more.

I know it sounds way out there but our arena was renovated not to many years from when they did and now they are the Oklahoma City Thunder. I could be wrong it could be the Kings situation but it just sounds weird how we drastically went downhill so fast and how they try putting the group that won't work out there. and give people like Corey Magettee and Stephen Jackson huge contracts.

Who knows we could be the Kansas City Warriors and hang around with the Chiefs. Their arena is nice too.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

i dunno..dont see it happening

1) look how much drama the sonics caused in their move
2) relocations are very difficult and expensive
3) and where would they go? what major market doesn’t already have a team?

can’t see it happening

Vegas!

I would actually be in complete support of this move, since it would send my favorite team to where I live. Then i wouldnt have to watch crappy streams online to see the Warriors.

The reason why we’re losing is because our fans are TOO loyal. We rank 10th in average home game attendance numbers. All teams that have higher attendance records are ALL winning teams. And then the next 11 teams with lower attendance than us are all winning teams, with the exception of the Thunder (just got an NBA team in their town), Wizards (not living up to their potential), and Heat (a .500 club as of today).

So what does this all mean? It means that there are teams that are doing way better than the Warriors can’t even fill up their seats as well as Oracle Arena. It means that our fans are SO loyal that we can fill up the seats no matter how good or how bad our team is doing. So, if you were a business man, say Chris Cohan or Robert Rowell, and you had a product that didn’t do well, but STILL sells out all the time what would give you any reason to make your product better even if you knew if you could care less about your product, you’d still be making tons and tons of money? It may be unfair, but that’s how it is and until we get some new ownership that WANTS to win, we’ll always be losers that fills up the seats.

Hmm..

That’s actually pretty interesting. I hadn’t really thought of it that way before. The bay loves hoops too much to force management to consistently put up a competitive product? I wouldn’t put it past management to take the fans for granted, but I wonder if the answer isn’t much more complicated.

OT: what happened to your fanpost about stats? I typed up a comment and when I tried to post, it was gone.

You hit the nail right on the head

The Warriors don’t deserve the fan base that they have, they really don’t. When I lived in Pennsylvania, even when the Sixers were winning the fans didn’t fill the house the way they do at the Oracle when the Warriors are losing. There is a real basketball hunger in the bay area, and for that reason alone, the Warriors fans deserve to have a team that is at least “playoff worthy” — and by that, I mean makes a playoff appearance more than once every 12 years. Cohan & Company rape this franchise big time, took what was the first “contender” lineup in a decade and turned it back into a playoff drought lineup, and then has the audacity to raise ticket prices (and keep them raised in the midst of a recession where everyone has less discretionary income on top of it). They should be paying us to go and suffer through watching some of these losses! But like you said, until we have an owner that WANTS to win, we won’t because the winning attitude needs to start at the top. Does Cohan even go to the Warriors’ games???

Dam

you got it. It all makes sense if we keep going anyways Cohen and Rowell won’t care what the team does if they still make money. They jacked prices up so much and all they did was just bring in the rich people to fill the seats. Do you think we should just stop going but if we do that we might go to what i just said for this post. it would make a product nobody cared about and would make the team look good to leave just like how the soincs fans stopped going because they knew what was happening.

Is it that simple?

I wonder what the range and median ticket prices are per team around the league. How many sponsors (corporate naming rights to stadiums, as well as luxury box seats) does the club carry? What is the average cost of living and what are the range and median income of people attending games? These are just a few variables to consider.

It's just like the movie Major League.

All we need is Wild Thing and we’ll win the NBA chanmpionship!

Haha

That and a life sized cardboard cut-out of Cohan that the players can strip the clothes off of one win at a time.

I propose we go to Oracle bearing torches and pitchforks looking for Rowell and Cohan. Who’s with me?
